Vera had truly run out of options. In the end, she could only turn to Skylar for help.
Her grandpa and uncle firmly believed that Ursula and her mother were in the wrong. To them, the mother and daughter pair were ordinary people, and being noticed by people like them meant they shouldn’t have thought of resisting or holding a grudge.
So, for them to seek forgiveness. from a deceased woman and a young woman was out of the question. To them, it would be no different from killing them.
This path was completely blocked, leaving no other choice. All their hopes rested on Skylar.
Denton believed that Skylar surely had a way to help them, and if they offered enough money, they would get what they wanted.
After hearing Vera’s plea, Skylar responded directly, “Sorry, I can’t help you. Other than sincerely repenting and seeking forgiveness, there is no other way. This is the only path you
can take.”
Vera let out a deep sigh, feeling utterly helpless. “Is there really no other way?” Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Skylar simply replied with a hum.
With no other options, Vera could only hang up the phone in frustration. After ending the call,
she looked at her father.
“Dad, other than the method I just mentioned, there’s no other way. Grandpa and Uncle Marlon have no other choice,” Vera said with a heavy heart.
Buck nodded gravely, “Alright, I understand. You’ve done your best in this matter, and that’s enough. Now, we can only hope that your grandpa and uncle can come to their senses.”
Vera nodded with reddened eyes, feeling the pain of watching her relatives reach this point. Even though she knew what they needed to do to save themselves, they just couldn’t bring themselves to do it.
Perhaps that was the fate they had chosen for themselves.
In the hotel suite, blackout curtains blocked out all the light. The entire room was dim, with hardly any light.
A man lay on the bed, asleep with furrowed brows.
Whatever he was dreaming of, a layer of sweat suddenly formed on his forehead. Then, he suddenly opened his eyes.
Even in the dim light, he could make out the surroundings of the suite. He was in a hotel.
The man woke up fully.
In his dream, there was a thick white mist, and behind the mist stood a woman who constantly looked at him.
But he couldn’t see her face clearly. He felt that this woman was very important to him. For the past three years, he often had this dream.
But ever since arriving in Jipsburg a few days ago, this dream haunted him almost every night. Every time he thought he would see the woman’s face, it remained obscured.
The man got out of bed, opened the curtains, and a knock came at the door.
“Ned, are you awake?”
A woman’s voice called softly from outside, careful not to raise her voice, probably afraid that the man inside might still be asleep.
But he had always been disciplined, waking up at precisely the time he set for himself.
He could handle any difficult task without showing any sign of stress.
Hearing the woman’s voice, the man’s expression softened slightly. Then, he walked over and opened the door.
