Chapter 420 Her Savior
“I made a point of keeping an eye on Mrs. Webster’s previous trips. Mrs. Webster once
went on a sudden overseas study trip ten years ago and didn’t return until shortly before
her marriage to you.”
She suddenly left the country?
Donahueiel had a strange moment of restlessness as if he was about to touch the truth,
and yet he couldn’t.
Donahueiel’s eyes sharpened on Alfred. “Go on.”
Alfred opened his notepad and relayed his findings to Donahueiel.
“A decade ago, Mrs. Webster’s father was in charge of the Longfellow
Group. In an accident, Mrs. Webster’s family was involved in a car accident. On the day of the accident
, Mr. Webster, you had passed by the scene.”
The scene of the accident?
Donahueiel was stuck in memory. Ten years ago, he had indeed witnessed a car
accident.
He was driving alone on a business trip when he saw a car overturned on the
ground on an overpass, gasoline dripping down and forming a small puddle on the ground, with smoke
billowing from the body.
Once the car caught fire, it could explode at any time.
Donahueiel was lucky. Before the explosion, he carried the girl leaning on the side of the car faint away
from the scene, and saved her life.
However, the project was very important at that time. Donahueiel was in a hurry to
go to a meeting, and took the girl to the hospital and then left.
When he returned to the hospital after work, the girl was already missing.
So, Janet was the girl he saved back then?
“Mr. Webster, it seems
that you and Mrs. Webster’s destiny has been predestined for a long time!” Alfred was smiling.
Donahueiel felt his chest clogged with a mass of inexplicable emotions, something
called destiny growing wildly in his heart.
That was the first and only time he went into the fire to save someone.
He had experienced that accident when he was a child. If Anastasia hadn’t saved him, he
might have died in the fire.
From then on, Donahueiel developed a fear of fire. A little spark would make him panic, and sweat.
But in that rescue, he did not have any fear.
“Mr. Webster, what were you thinking? Did you rush in and save Mrs. Webster without any hesitation?”
Alfred had been around Donahueiel long enough to know him well, naturally, and he knew the presiden
t had a shadow over the fire.
“How did you find out about Mrs. Webster?” Alfred asked curiously.
Donahueiel’s gaze softened. “When I turned the corner, I hastily swept a glance in the rearview mirror.”
That glance went through the smoke and fire. His heart was like being gripped by a small, isolated han
d that made him get out of the car.
Donahueiel smiled tenderly as if something had occurred to him.
“She has a dirty little face, like a little flower cat.”
By the time he responded, he had already walked up to Janet.
She was leaning weakly against the back of the car, her eyes feebly half–closed. Her clothes
were tattered and torn by the fire, and her bare arms and neck were covered with fine wounds. The blo
od coagulated into scabs, and it looked hideous and horrific.
Flames rushed to the sky. The car made one jarring sound after another, and would soon explode.
Donahueiel did not have time to think about how Janet escaped from the car. He bent
down to pick up Janet, and quickly back to the car.

Sarine
Janet was a teenager then, more petite than now, almost weightless in his arms.
Donahueiel
gently placed her in the spacious back seat. Janet’s body was soft, and Donahueiel gently shook her s

“Wake up, wake up!”
It took seven or eight shouts in a row before Janet’s eyes finally opened.
Her body was covered with blood and soot, only the deer–
like eyes were clean, like two crystal clear gems.
Janet’s eyes went from bewilderment to horror. She sat up abruptly and fell back into the seat because
she was dizzy.
Donahueiel hurried to help Janet, sweeping a glance at her tattered clothes. He hastily averted his eye
s, took off his own suit Donahueielet, and put it on her.
“Don’t move until the ambulance comes, lest you aggravate your internal injuries.”
Even Donahueiel himself did not notice the tenderness in his tone.
Janet, as if she hadn’t heard, struggled to sit up again, knocked Donahueiel away, and rushed outside.
As soon as her feet hit the ground, her legs sank, and she fell uncontrollably.
Donahueiel was worried, grabbed her, and said, “Don’t go there! The car could explode at any time!”
“But my parents and my brother are still inside…” Janet’s voice was hoarse, like the
desperate hiss of a small beast.
Her eyes were red, but she didn’t drop a single tear.
Janet’s lips, which were dry and cracked from lack of water, trembled uncontrollably, and her two small
hands clutched Donahueiel’s sleeves.
“Please help me, help me save my family…”
Donahueiel looked
down at Janet, whose eyes were full of helplessness. With slight pressure on his hand, he pressed her
back behind the car door and told her to hide.

“Wait here.”
Get Bou
Donahueiel sprinted toward the burning car, strands of fear that had just vanished
twisted up and choked his throat, making him difficult to breathe.
Donahueiel bit down hard on the tip of his tongue. The pain allowed him to breathe. Just
halfway through the journey, there was a sudden flash of fire in front of him, and a wave
of heat surrounded him in an instant.
He subconsciously raised his arms to resist, dodging behind the barrier.
The fire raged, swallowing everything around him. Donahueiel’s hair was burned short.
“No!”
From behind him came Janet’s heartbreaking
cries. Donahueiel had a premonition and grabbed her in his arms, stopping her from running to the fire.
Under the smoke and fire, Donahueiel held Janet tightly. She couldn’t hold on any longer and collapsed
in his arms.
“It was a hard fate for Mrs. Webster to see her family buried in the fire.”
Alfred couldn’t stop sighing.
“She was all alone and miserable, and was taken over by the bad guy Dereion, and then
got married and lived…”
Alfred abruptly stopped talking, cursing himself for being too blunt, lowered his head,
and did not dare to look at Donahueiel.
Donahueiel felt his limbs and organs were cold.
“I’m sorry to Janet. I’m the one
who didn’t do my duty as a husband.” Donahueiel clenched the pen in his hand, his knuckles pale.
Donahueiel dared not imagine how Janet had waited alone during the three years of marriage, or how s
he had spent one long night after another.
He was the one who sowed the seeds of hurt, which now finally turned into a sharp knife of remorse to
strike back at him, returning the pain Janet had suffered.

“Mr. Webster, it’s not too late to make amends, is it?”
Alfred wanted to comfort Donahueiel, but he thought for a moment that Janet had
suffered three years of cold violence. If he were Janet, there was no way he could easily forgive Donah
ueiel.
Donahueiel’s chest rose and fell, and he exhaled a deep breath.
“Help me make an appointment with Janet.”
He wanted to ask in person if she had liked him for ten years because he had saved her
life.
Alfred wordlessly exited.
Donahueiel turned on his computer and typed quickly with his fingers. In less than three
minutes, he hacked into the system of that hospital back then.
He clearly remembered that day. However, in the hospital’s system, there was no Janet,
not even a girl about her age, among the people admitted that day.
