I Want You Back

Chapter 13

Angel Leffman

I arrived at Andrew & Leffman and went straight to my office. I hadn't even started when I received a message from John and Carmen that Sofia had left, making my blood boil in anger. "Why does she have to be so stubborn?"

I got another message, and this time it was from Harry saying that he was at Let-Tech waiting for a response from the secretary. I hope that this time we can make an appointment with the company. After a couple of hours, I asked about Sofia, and I was told that she was still not in the company.

Diether came to my office and saw my wound. "Did you fight with someone?"

"With an idiot that is probably unrecognizable by now," I said with a smirk.

"What did he do to you?" He asked in curiosity and amusement.

"He messed with something he shouldn't have. What are you doing here?"

"I brought the documents for the new automotive image to make the design official for the next meeting."

"Why don't you close it yourself? You are the new automotive engineer."

Diether rolled his eyes. "Because you're the one who designed it from the last meeting, Angel. I have always been an engineer. Now I am the director of the area because your wife decided so; it is not my fault. These are your designs, so stop acting like a child."

I gave him an irritated look. Sometimes, I want to knock some sense into him, but I remember he's a friend and a colleague. He and Harry are the only ones who can talk to me like that. "Okay, I'll check them and sign."

"So, who had the unlucky chance of fighting with you?"

I stared at him and thought of what happened yesterday and earlier with Sofia.

"Who else but Sofia? Diether, what do you think of Elisa back at the university?"

He looked at me in confusion. "Where did that come from?"

"I'm just trying to remember what happened in the past, but I can't remember much. Now, I'm starting to question everything," I told him with a sigh.

"About what?"

"Elisa, Sofia, the marriage, and the reason behind it."

"You married Sofia because you loved her, and now that Elisa is back, you are just confused, and you hurt Sofia."

Diether had no idea about the truth behind our marriage, although he was my best friend. Harry is the only one who knows because he was the lawyer I chose for our marriage agreement.

"Dieth, there are some things that are hard to say and explain, but you didn't answer me."

"Angel, every time we talk about Elisa, we fight, so I choose not to give my opinion."

"I won't this time. Just tell me what you know."

He looked at me skeptically but opened his mouth. "Angel, Elisa is different from what you knew back then. There are rumors about her."

I cut him off. "Exactly. Rumors. You can't judge someone based on rumors but on their actions."

"Well, sometimes, the truth is in front of us, but we just refuse to see it. I just don't understand how you woke up one day and decided to marry Sofia, but then chose Elisa and became her puppet. I'm sorry for the choice of words." "Puppet?!" I repeated with a mocking laugh. "Right. I became a puppet of two women, and I don't know who to believe."

"About what? Tell me what's bothering you, man."

""Diether, it seems that..."

We were interrupted by the door opening, and Elisa entered. She had an annoyed expression, and I couldn't blame her after I stood her up last night.

"Elisa, I didn't know you were coming. You should have told me."

"Should I tell you whenever I'm coming now?" She asked, and she was clearly pissed.Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.

"Everyone has to inform my secretary of their arrival or appointment, Elisa. It's protocol just in case I am in a meeting."

She quickly cuts me off. "But you are only with Diether and not anyone. We need to talk." She strode to my desk, and I didn't like her tone.

"It's always a pleasure to see you, Elisa. I see that you haven't changed at all," Diether says sarcastically before turning to me. "I'll leave you with your problem, and we'll talk later."

"I am not a problem, but his girlfriend is," Elisa said with a glare.

"Elisa!" I couldn't help but shout her name because we agreed that no one else could get to know about our relationship until the divorce was official. "Sofia is my wife, and she's the only Mrs. Leffman."

At what I said, her sharp eyes turned to me, and they filled me with anger. Diether looked at us both before leaving without a word.

"May I know what's happening with you? You stood me up yesterday after I made an effort to surprise you. You weren't answering my calls, and now you're treating me like this and even defending Sofia," she said with an upset voice. "Elisa, you need to understand that we're not the same anymore. I told you I have responsibilities now, and that includes Sofia."

"Yes, but..."

"No buts, Elisa. When we met again, I told you the truth. Sofia and I's marriage isn't what you see on the news, but we respect each other. You told me you understand and that you can wait."

"You took me to dinner with your family. You told me you were divorcing her and that we would continue our plans before Sofia ruined them."

"Yes, I said that. I also said that I would compensate you for the loss of our child but at the right time. You can't just go around telling everyone you're my girlfriend."

She took a deep breath, and her eyes softened. "Okay, I'm sorry. I'm just angry and upset that last night didn't happen."

"I had an urgent matter; I told you in the message."

"I know, but I just had my doubts. Is there anything or anyone more important than me?"

"There are many things to do, Elisa. I have work, plans, clients, and meetings I suddenly need to attend."

"With Sofia?" I frowned at her statement. "Someone saw you leaving a restaurant with her," she finished in an accusing tone.

"Yes, Elisa, sometimes I need to attend meetings with Sofia. I told you we still have an agreement."

"You don't have to explain, Angel. It's just that... when it comes to Sofia, I wonder if they will be a boy with your intelligence or a pretty girl like me," Elisa said in a sad voice.

I smiled at the thought of our child with my qualities, or Sofi-wait, what? Where did that come from? Damn it.

"Elisa, I'm busy. I'm sorry about yesterday, but let me handle this, okay? I don't want to lose everything I work hard for."

Elisa nodded with a smile. "I understand. It's okay, and I will not force you. Take care of it like you've always told me before; just don't leave me."

"We were young back then. We are adults now with responsibilities. We need to think first before saying or doing anything."

"Alright. I just remembered that I promised to go with your mother and sister to the clubhouse."

"Go and have fun."

She tried to kiss me, but I turned my head. I just don't feel good when I'm with Elisa or Sofia. What do I do when I don't know what I should feel for them?

"I'll call you later."

She nodded and left my office.

I have been hating Sofia for the past five years because of everything she's done for us. I will never forgive her, and I understand Elisa's pain. Now that Elisa's back, I feel the need to avenge her. But where does Sofia stand in my life?
