Chapter 31: Date?
Chapter 31: Date?
I chuckled and crossed my arms. I saw how he smiled and fixed himself to look presentable.
I smiled broadly, and he thought that I would agree easily.
"Mr. Peterson, I'm sorry to reject you, but I have no interest in dating." I politely said and excused myself, but he walked beside me.
"I'm just kidding. I shouldn't leave a bad impression on someone who is as gorgeous as you, especially since this is our first meeting, Ms. Stewart." He winked at me, and I secretly rolled my eyes.
Did he think that he could get me by doing that stuff? I stopped and looked at him.
"Mr. Peterson, I'll just find another way to compensate you," I said. I was about to walk away when I suddenly tripped. I closed my eyes and waited for my face to bump on the floor, but seconds had passed, and I found myself in Paul's hand. He caught me, and his face was too close to me. He's staring at me like crazy.
We had just separated when I heard someone cough. Paul helped me stand up, his hand still on my waist.
"Travis! Cousin!" he exclaimed. There, I realized that they are related to each other. I thought he would accept Paul's hand, but he didn't. Paul just chucked at him and looked at me.
"You know each other?" Stacy asked him, pointing at me. Does she have to know everything?
"Yes, and I'm courting her" My eyes widened because of what he said. What the?! Is he for real?!
I looked at him and glared, but he just laughed. I sighed and looked at Travis, who was now showing a dark expression, while Stacy was surprised as always.
"Oh! I didn't know that you were too close with different guys!" She furrowed her eyebrows. Here she goes again.
I hate seeing her here, and I especially feel allergic to her presence.
"Jasmine is just friendly. And that's what I like about her" he winked at me, and I just smiled at him.
I think I have to enjoy this night. Just this night. I smirk and look at Paul.
"Paul, could you please take your hands off me for a while?" I politely said, and he laughed and did what I said. I'm not comfortable with his hands on my waist.
"I'm sorry, babe," he laughed and fixed himself. What a jerk. He already thought of something that he could call me.
"Ladies and gentlemen, I want to express my gratitude for attending my birthday party." Sabrina is now talking on the stage. Paul invited me to sit on the chair, and I accepted his offer now that I could see how Travis looked at him furiously. Travis also sat in the opposite chair without inviting Stacy with her,
which made her irritated.
I didn't care about the way she looked at me; I just listened to Sabrina talking on the stage.
"You want something?" Paul acted like we've known each other for so long, though he's not a bad-looking guy. He looks handsome, yes, tall, has black hair, and most importantly, he looks like a playboy. "Nah, just a drink, I guess," I said. He nodded and called someone who was serving champagne. He handed me a glass of drink, and I smiled at him in return.
"So tell me, when did you meet her?" Stacy asks while she's looking at me with that judgment in her eyes.NôvelDrama.Org owns this text.
"I don't think you still have to know about that", Paul casually answered him, and I wanted to laugh for real because of the way he was talking to her.
I saw Stacy's face grimace because of the answer she received from Paul.
"And now, since she's already here. I just want to call her "In front of one of my special guests and my biggest investor, Ms. Stewart!" I heard Sabrina say it, and I couldn't believe she would call me.
She looked at me and signed me to come in front. I shyly stood up, and the guests clapped their hands while I was on my way through the stage until I already went closer to her.
'This woman beside me is Ms.
Jasmine Stewart. She's been
supporting my business since day one. Though we don't see each other in person because she stays abroad, she still invests in my
company. I'm not talking about a
small amount but a huge amount of money." She laughed. I told her she shouldn't tell those things to them, but she just shook her head.
"And now, I've heard that she went here for business. I just want to grab this opportunity to thank her, because she's one of the reasons why my company is getting known to other countries," she said, and I chuckled.
She's right. When her company went into great bankruptcy, she asked for help, and I didn't hesitate to invest money. Now I don't regret doing it. "That's why I want to thank you, and please enjoy this night," she said, and everyone stood up and clapped, not including those two monkeys in the middle. I went back to my seat, and I saw how Paul smiled so big.
"That was impressive, babe," he winked, and I just laughed at him. I enjoyed how Stacy glared at me while Travis showed a cold expression.
"That was just nothing" I smiled broadly, and he offered me a drink again, and I accepted it. While Stacy excused herself and went to the restroom.
"Here, take some more," he offered me a glass of champagne again, but before I could accept it, someone snatched it in my hands and drank it in just one gulp.
I looked at him, his eyes on fire, while looking at Paul, who showed no reaction at all and just smiled at me.
He poured another drink into my glass and gave it to me, but Travis snatched it from me again and drank it. He looked at me with a serious face.
"You have to go home now."
