Winning Her Heart Again

Chapter 12: Someone Like You

Chapter 12: Someone Like You Jasmine POV

"Are you ready?" I fixed his clothes and combed his hair. He repeatedly nodded, showing how excited he was. He was wearing their uniform, while I chose to wear a red dress enough to show my curves. I just let my long hair hang in the air. I smiled. He's enjoying having friends and going to school. I want him to be happy and away from sadness.

"I'm excited, Mom. Our teacher is teaching us well. Everyone has their partners," he said, even in a slow manner. All of the parents were invited to their kids' presentations. They were chosen to perform dance with partners.

"Are you guys ready?" Diego appears at the door while fixing his sleeve. He's wearing a black sleeve. I noticed that he forgot to fix his scruff.

"We are ready; you forgot to fix this", I said and fixed it together with his necktie. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

I saw how adam's apple moved upward and downward. And I saw him start to me, which made me distance myself because we're too close to each other.

"There, it's all done. Let's go?" I smiled at him while David held both of our hands. I knew he was staring at me, but I acted as if it was nothing.

"Let's go, ma'am. We're getting late!" David grabbed our hands while he was running. I laughed because he never let go of our hands, and he was really pulling us.

"Don't rush, David; your mom is wearing high heels. Do you want him to go on a trip?" Diego said that made David stop running.

He shook his head as an answer to Diego's question.

"I'm just excited daddy Uncle, my classmates were already in the school "he pouted that made Diego mess up his hair.

"Don't worry, the event won't start until we're there," he said, carrying David, which made him smile. I wanted to hit him on the head because he was telling nonsense to my son.

"Really Dady Uncle? Does that mean that we could go there late? Cause they will wait for us?" David asked him while we were walking through the parking lot. Diego's face grimaced because of what my son said. "No, David. Your Daddy Uncle is just joking. Don't believe what he just said." I pinched his cheeks as we went inside the car.

Every time David has a family event at their school, Diego always accompanies us. He never failed not to attend.

As we arrived at the school, the program started exactly.

"You can go there now. Good luck!" I hugged him, and he hugged me, too.

"You can do it, "Diego said, helping him go backstage. After that, we went to sit down to watch.

In five years, I've experienced so many different things. It's not easy to give birth, I was wrong before that I can do it alone where in fact I need someone's help.

Diego never leaves me; even at the crucial moment, he always stays by my side. I remember when I was eight weeks pregnant, my tummy was so big, and it was hard for me to walk and grab things I needed. Instead of going to work, he would stay and help me until the day that I'd been waiting for. I'm so scared, I don't know how I will be able to surpass that day within Diego by my side.

I kept on crying because I worked for twenty-four hours. I couldn't sleep, and my tummy always hurt. Diego always says that it's normal and that he won't leave me.

He acted like a husband and father to me and to my son. Everything was new to him. One day, I caught him reading books, researching how to take good care of a pregnant woman and a child.

When David was born, he was always there to assist me and help me. We are both unfamiliar with how to take good care of a baby. Especially when David keeps on crying, Diego hushs him like a father always to their baby.

He never leaves when David has a high fever, even if he's tired from work. From doing household chores, he would help me rush him to the hospital.

He did too many things for us. I thought my son would never experience the love of a father, but Diego is the one who keeps on fulfilling that promise now.

"Are you alright?" I looked at Diego, and I couldn't help but smile. He suddenly touched my face. I didn't know that I was crying.

"I am. I couldn't believe that we did it." I smiled at him, and he hugged me. He put in so much effort and sacrifice to help me raise my son.

"I know; stop crying now, Jaz." He said, and I nodded.

I'm happy that I don't have to worry about my son's future. I've already saved enough for him.

"And now let's welcome our Third performers!" We gave them a round of applause, and I waved my hand so David could see us.

"Mommy! Daddy Uncle!" He shouted and giggled. He also held his partner's hand because the music was about to start.

"I'm proud of him," I uttered. That smile of his is the smile that I have always wanted to see. Baby, Mommy will always do everything for you.

"I'm proud of you too, Jaz. I will always be proud of both of you," Diego said while he couldn't take that smile off him.

While they were performing on the stage, David kept on looking at us. After the event, we decided to go to the nearest restaurant because David had said he was hungry.

"When I grew up, Mom, I wanted to find someone like you. "David uttered while we were eating. That surprised me.

I looked at Diego, and he shrugged his shoulders.

"What do you mean?" I fixed his hair, and he looked at Diego.

"Daddy Uncle said that you always have a tough day, but you always think positive. He said that a woman like you is rare. That's why when I grew up, I wanted to meet someone like you."
