Chapter 281
Chapter 281 It Is Suffocating!
“Those reporters are so annoying. No wonder Ms. Maia and Hope’s faces were so dour. How could they ask such disgusting questions?”
“They just got off their flight. They must've been exhausted, yet they got bombarded with such brainless questions. If it were me, | would’ve already yelled at those reporters!”
“We all agree that reporters are annoying, but I’d like to say something random. Ms. Maia looked so beautiful! She has such a fair complexion and such a slim waist! Her legs are so long too! If only she’d join the entertainment industry, she would definitely be Starlight
Entertainment's biggest star!”Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
“| agree! As a fellow female, | couldn't believe how good Ms. Maia could look in just a spaghetti strap top, I’m envious! Hope looks lovely too! They’re really a pair of beautiful sisters!”
“Ms. Maia is the definition of a sophisticated lady—boss!”
Maia, Hope and the rest of the guests were waiting at the parking lot. Hope took the opportunity to scroll through Twitter and she smiled at the comments before showing them
to Maia.
“Maia, you should see how they’re talking about you. You're the new definition of a girlboss!” Hope teased playfully as she was happy that so many comments were praising her sister.
“Well, they certainly have good taste,” Maia smiled and commented.
Moments later, a few Rolls-Royce sedans drove into the area. Some of the artists were surprised at the sponsor’s generosity. “Wow, are those cars here to pick us up? It’s so unbelievable!”
“| thought it would just be an SUV sending us to the resort in groups!” The artists continued to chatter excitedly as they had never experienced something like this before.
Even Hope was surprised by the gesture as she reached out her hand to hold Maia’s. Hope had been to many kinds of award ceremonies and official events, but she had never experienced such an extravagant welcome before.
She knew immediately that Mr. Cedric was behind it. Who else would be able to afford to own so many Rolls—Royces?
Under the surprised gazes of everyone, the driver of the car came down and opened the door as Cedric walked out of the arrival hall.
“Mr. Cedric, after you,” The driver said respectfully.
Cedric nodded, but he did not get into the car. Instead, he walked to Maia’s side and held her wrist.
“What are you doing?” Maia questioned softly. She did not want to cause a scene as so many were present. “Sending you to the resort.”
“There’s a whole fleet of cars here, | don’t have to take the same one as you do!” Maia hissed.
“Those are for your artists, not you.”
“It’s fine, | can share a car with them.”
“You're their boss, so you need to start acting like it,” Cedric reminded her.
Maia was frustrated by his actions.
The other artists pretended not to see what was happening as they got into the cars under Baz’s instructions.
Maia knew that she had to give in to Cedric as they were still at the airport. If anything were to happen here, it would only end up on the internet. Without a second thought, Maia grabbed Hope’s wrist and brought her along.
When Cedric noticed what Maia had done, he stopped in his tracks and frowned. “We don’t need a third wheeler.”
“We're strangers, so it’s safer to have someone else present as well. What if something were to happen on the way? At least | have a witness.”
Hope was amazed at her sister’s ability to come up with an excuse.
Cedric raised an eyebrow at what Maia had said. “So, we’re strangers now?” “Yes, we are,” Maia insisted.
Cedric just smirked at her as he remained silent.
Hope shifted uncomfortably as she tried to get out of the car. Unfortunately, Maia had stopped her. “We're sisters. Aren’t you supposed to help me in a situation like this?” Maia whispered in
her ear.
Hope swallowed hard. All she wanted to do was to get out of the car and avoid this agonizingly awkward situation.
Before she could voice hér discomfort, Maia turned to Cedric and asked, “Aren’t you getting in? There’s not enough room, right? Why don’t you get in another car instead?”
“It’s fine,” Cedric retorted and climbed in.
Maia frowned at his reaction. She was so sure that that he would not want to squeeze in with them.
Hope was seated in the middle, separating the two. Nothing was more suffocating than sitting between her boss and Cedric. Their presence was just too overwhelming! Hope could only cry on the inside as she was overwhelmed by the tense atmosphere.
Suddenly, the driver hit the emergency brake. This caused Maia to fly out of her seat in shock. Immediately, an arm shot out from beside Hope and grabbed Maia firmly. This managed to stop Maia from colliding into the seat in front of her.
Hope was surprised by what had just transpired as she heard Cedric asking Maia, “Are you okay?” He had ignored Hope’s presence entirely.
Maia did not look at him, she only nodded in response. Cedric was not at all bothered as he continued to smile gently at her.
