The Russian Don – A Dark Mafia Romance

7

After peacefully having a cup of coffee, he decided to take a walk to a nearby neighbourhood. His eyes were watching the busy streets with people walking around and children’s laughter as they kept playing at the park. Being a mobster is not an easy job and it’s quite a dangerous lifestyle. Nikolai always wanted to have a family of his own but he realised he could never have one.

As he stood there, across the road watching a 5-year-old boy playing with his mom, his childhood rushed to his mind. He always wanted to be close to his mother and craved her attention which he never got because of his father.

He has always been envious of Enzo for getting love and attention from his mother. No matter how hard he tried to meet his mother, Boris would do something that would ruin his plans.

All of a sudden, someone ran straight into him making him stumble a step back. His eyes landed on the medium-height woman, her brown hair was all over her face and her hands were in the air. His instincts kicked in and he quickly grabbed her wrist and pulled her to him before she could fall down.

Her tiny head hit his huge chest and her long fingers clenched his coat tightly, he felt her sharp intake. He tried to look at her face with great curiosity but before he could see her face she grabbed his biceps and turned him around.

What is this woman doing? He thought while staring down at her in confusion. He watched her curiously as she peeped through him and a gasp left her lips, she quickly hid between his tall figure and wall.

“God! Why can he just give up already,” he heard her mutter while glancing at someone behind him. He glanced back curiously and saw a guy searching for someone, looking around and cursing under his breath. Nikolai then realised that this woman was hiding from him and decided to cover her.

He noticed her clutching his coat tightly and pressing her forehead to his chest, hiding from the guy. He watched her peep again and mumbled something under her breath while shutting her eyes tightly.

She looked like a kitten to him and unknowingly a small smile appeared at the corner of his lips as he watched her. As she released a breath of relief and suddenly she pulled her hands off his coat while stepping back.

“I’m so sorry,” She apologised while staring at his coat and stepping back,

“I really didn’t mean to… I’m so sorry… I…” she looked up at him and as his eyes met her hazel eyes something in him clicked. She had those brown and gold flecks which were both the sunlit branches and the soft moss that covered the hazel tree.

Her perfect brows, beautiful eyes, small straight nose, pink bow-shaped lips, and her spotless fair skin.

Average but beautiful!

He has seen more beautiful women but something in her eyes clenched his heart and he didn’t understand why he felt like that. As she stared at his eyes, his heart began to pound rapidly against his ribcage which was strange to him. The sensations he felt were foreign to him.

He was confused and curious, why does his heart beat this way! Why do I feel bothered?

He stared at her, trying to search for something in her eyes, something which could answer his questions.

“I’m sorry,” she said in her low, timid voice.

Nikolai watched her curiously as she cleared her throat, “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to do that… I was just trying to get away from him,” she said, looking at him. The nervousness in her tone didn’t go unnoticed by Nikolai and strangely he felt slightly worried for her.

Before he could understand why? “Are you… Alright?” he asked,All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“Ye-Yeah!” she replied while blinking her eyes in surprise,

“Thank you… for umm… helping me… hide… earlier…,” she said while smiling at him awkwardly.

“Thank you,” She added and walked away from him but his eyes followed her.

Who is this woman? And who was she running from? Questions kept running in his head as he watched her turn back and walked past him. He stood there until she disappeared from his sight.

Suddenly his phone began ringing, he quickly pulled it out and answered, “Hello,”

“Boss, Cole is coming over to pick you up… We need to visit the club!” Darwin said,

“Okay,” he replied and hung up. As he was about to turn, his eyes caught a phone laying on the ground.

She must have dropped it in a hurry! He thought while bending down and taking it. The screen of the phone turned on and a picture of Julianna and Stella flashed on the lock screen, they both were smiling at the camera looking happy.

Since in the lock screen wallpaper both Stella and Julianna were wearing the name tags, it made it easy for Nikolai to reach Juliana. After work, he asked Cole to drive to the dine, but before they could reach Julianna, the Dine was closed.

Luckily Cole got the additional information about Juliana like where she lives to make it easy for his boss. While driving to her apartment, Nikolai saw her walking alone to her house and stopped the car.

He walked up to her but she mistaken him as some kidnapper and threw pepper spray on his face. This made Nikolai furious, no one ever dared to touch him but this woman not only pepper sprayed at him but also yelled at him to die, not once but thrice.

He scolded himself for trying to help her, he should have left the phone there and mind his own business.

Women never appreciate help, this is expected to happen, he thought while turning back and climbing into his car.

But what Nikolai didn’t expect is finding her in his mansion along with her best friend.
