Miss Raven
Chapter 2 Miss Raven
Raven glanced at the young doctor from over her shoulder, then smiled gently – Lee had been a source of great help to Lockheed.
Sporadically, she wondered how she could ever repay his kindness. The young doctor came to Mr. Salvador’s bed stand while smiling brightly.
“Good morning, Mr. Salvador and Raven. Your night wasn’t horrible now, was it, birdie?” he grinned and lowered his hand to ruffle her fluffy locks.
“Hey!” She slapped his hand off playfully, and they all shared short laughter. “My dad’s back, my awful nights are over” Her gush was thrilled.
“Oh, so you did miss me that much?” He snickered tauntingly at his daughter, only for her to flicker his forehead mildly. Lee, who was now checking Mr. Salvador’s vitality, glanced at the sweet father and daughter duo – how childish they were.
“Mr. Salvador, I’m excited to announce that you’ll be discharged sooner than expected. The operation improved your health quite profusely” Lee told them, and it placed a dent in their conversation.
While Mr. Salvador beamed widely, Raven contemplated shortly before finally asking her question. “So his operation was done, but who paid? I mean, the bill, the money was quite a sum, how was it settled?”Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Raven’s utterance unexpectedly got the whole ward enveloped in dead silence – the two men were seemingly sealed, and she confusingly diverted her gaze from her father to Lee.
Did she say something wrong? “Dad?” Raven stared inquisitively while growing suspicious about his incessant silence.
Who the hell paid for his operation? Couldn’t he at least tell her whosoever did it name? Her father was somewhat of a loner, so he didn’t have any friends, and they weren’t originally New Yorkers – they were Mexicans.
So, how did he obtain such a large sum of money? By any chance…had he borrowed it from some shady organization or something related to that?
“Dad, don’t tell me you borrowed money from some mafias. Y’know how dangerous those fuckers can be!” Raven scolded sternly, and she couldn’t help but notice how he flinched at the mention of the word ‘mafias’.
“Did you borrow money from T-”
Her question had to wait due to the sudden ringing of her phone. A grumble elicited from her lips then again once her eyes beheld the caller’s ID, she gulped down emptiness.
“I forgot to inform him I won’t be coming to work today. Shit!” Raven excused herself from the ward, heading to a restroom.
Meanwhile, Mr. Salvador and Lee exchanged worried glances.
“You’re yet to tell her? Sir, you have to” Lee blurted, obviously concerned about the man’s safety. He exhaled heavily, then inhaled.
“I’ll be fine. I just need Raven to get out of this country before the Graveyard comes looking for me. I can’t afford to pay the money Ramos Escobar lent me, but we can come to another form of settlement. Perhaps, I’ll work as his servant for some time or something” Mr. Salvador spoke, fear laced in his voice, yet he tried to act courageous.
Lee attempted to say something when the ward’s door got pushed open brutally before a dozen men, each cladded in dark suits, rushed in, with guns in their possession.
Lee gritted his teeth hard and went to stand gallantly in front of Mr. Salvador’s bed when Ramos Escobar, the second most lethal mafia in the whole continent, marched in.
His mode of dressing was slightly different from his subordinates – a dark hat, a floating coat, and a stick of burning cigarette embedded in between his darkened lips.
A handsome man of 45 yet had accomplished so much that the mere mention of his name sent shivers down the spines of leaders – Ramos Escobar, the leader of the Graveyard Cartel!
Meanwhile, in the restroom, Raven, done receiving an earful of yells from her boss at the restaurant, could be seen rushing back to her father’s ward.
But to her greatest surprise, someone in a dark suit stood in her door’s path and…held a gun. Instinctively, she hid behind the wall and then grimaced furiously – her father did borrow money from some mafias.
“That fucking geezer!”

Once she kicked the door down, numerous nozzles were pointed directly at her figure, yet Raven had eyes only for one particular person.
“Raven?” Mr. Salvador gasped shockingly at her entrance – laying unconsciously behind her was Ramos’ subordinate and in her hands was a pistol which she aimed fearlessly at Ramos.
The middle-aged mafia who stood next to Mr. Salvador and lay by his feet was an unconscious yet bloodied Lee – the sweet thing tried to save Mr. Salvador, but instead got beaten rather easily.
“Oh, gorgeous” Ramos commented, immediately his sight landed on the intruder – definitely, she was Salvador’s daughter; they shared some special facial features.
He gawked admiringly at her, while her eyes portrayed deadly intentions towards him; she’d kill him if he tried anything funny with her father.
“Lower your guns” Ramos smirked largely, walking towards Raven while his men dropped their guns immediately. Ramos expected her to do the same, but she merely snickered and then cocked her gun.
“You’re not the boss of me, shitty geezer!”
Within the blink of an eye, she pulled the trigger and the bullet flew straight to his left arm, piercing violently into it flawlessly.
