Aurelia was speechless.

Evelyn was the sister of his first love, so everything she did was right. Cunningness was touted as

wisdom, nepotism as networking skills…everything was an advantage.

Just who was she, a plain jane, to compare with?

Everything she did became his pet peeve, a source of derision.

Every word she spoke was mocked by him.

A blatant double standard!

As she was fuming, Leopold’s phone rang. She took a glance, it was Evelyn.

He stepped out onto the balcony to take the call, his voice barely audible. Despite straining her ears, ConTEent bel0ngs to Nôv(e)lD/rama(.)Org .

Aurelia could not make out the conversation.

Without guessing, she knew it must be sweet words, not meant for her ears.

Leopold ended his call, came back and picked up his coat from the couch, “I have to go. Competition.

breeds progress, it’s not a bad thing for you.”

Aurelia was speechless, sticking her tongue out at his retreating back.

She was sure he was off to meet Evelyn.

Such a philanderer, no loyalty at all.

But, it was not her who was being cheated on, poor Elowen!

After biting into an apple, she walked into her room, only to find her oil painting missing from the easel.

She hurried to Laura’s room and knocked on the door, “Laura, where’s my painting?”

“It’s in the trash…by the master.”

Laura sighed.

She had planned on buying a frame to hang the painting, but as soon as the master arrived, he had

walked into the room, grabbed the painting, and torn it to shreds without a second word.

Laura was worried whether Aurelia had upset the master and they were going to fight, but thankfully

everything seemed calm after.

Perhaps the master just didn’t like the painting.

Aurelia was flabbergasted. She walked over to the trash can and saw the crushed remnants of her

painting, her rage boiling over.

What came over him?

Why did he rip her painting?

How audacious!

She would definitely confront him tomorrow.

The next day, at the weekly meeting.

Aurelia threw a glance at Leopold and Evelyn. Both looked refreshed, clearly they had a wonderful

night. together.

Images of their lovey–dovey moments filled her mind, making her skin crawl.

Disgusting!

She hugged herself and rubbed her arms.

Leopold noticed this, his brow furrowed slightly.

She could at least wear a jacket if it was cold, did she want to freeze his children?

He immediately instructed his secretary to switch off the air conditioning.

Evelyn, being the newcomer, was the first to report. She formally proposed a competition with Aurelia

for the position of director.

“My proposal is, Manager Aurelia and I each lead a team to design this winter’s new products.

Whichever team has higher sales, wins. I’m not sure if Manager Aurelia is willing, as most of the

designers in the department want to join my team, leaving only four assistant designers under Manager

Aurelia.”

This was a blatant provocation!

Evelyn has already dominated the Design Department; her opponent should graciously concede and

roll

over!

But could Aurelia not know that?

She was very calm, a faint smile on her face, “Having them four is enough, the “Whisper‘ series was

completed by me alone, and the ‘Mystery‘ and ‘Secret‘ series were done by me, Jenny and Darcy

together. No one else was involved. It’s not about quantity, but quality!”

The ‘Whisper‘ series had already broken the sales record of Astral Enterprises, and the ‘Mystery‘ and

‘Secret‘ series, which had only been launched a few days ago, had orders piling up. The major

jewellery factories were ramping up production, ready to break the sales record again.

With a few simple sentences, Aurelia made it clear that the many people under Evelyn were of no use.

Leopold could hear the hidden meaning in her words, the corners of his mouth twitched in a barely

noticeable smile.

In the game of verbal sparring, she was second to none.

A cold light flashed in Evelyn’s eyes, but she maintained her smile, “Since Manager Aurelia is so

confident, let’s settle for that.”

She spoke like a superior to a subordinate, but Aurelia didn’t bother to argue.

The one who laughs last, laughs best!

As they left the meeting room, Aurelia followed Leopold, looking for an opportunity to ask about the

painting Evelyn brushed past her and walked up to Leopold, “Leo, shall we have lunch together?”
