Chapter 23
Chapter 23
Her face turned a shade paler, her heart trembling in fear“I don’t have a passport. I never planned to go
abroad, so I didn’t get one” Aurelia said.
She glanced at the steak on Leopold’s plate, quickly using it as a diversion, “I’m not a big fan of steak.
If you send me abroad, I’ll starve to death.”
He wouldn’t want to be responsible for three deaths, would he?
Leopold’s thin lips curled into a derisive smile, “I thought you weren’t picky, easy to feed”
“I’m not picky, as long as it’s homemade food, I can eat anything. I just can’t handle some certain types
of food. That’s why I’ll never go abroad in my life, no matter how much you beg or force me.” Aurelia
spoke earnestly, indirectly making her stance clear.
Leopold looked at her with an odd expression, seemingly finding her peculiar, “So, you’re not planning
to go to the Paris Jewelry Show?”
What?
Aurelia was taken aback. She almost forgot about the event, one of the largest exhibitions worldwide.
Astral Enterprises, a renowned jewelry conglomerate, participated in every edition. And it was a dream
of hers to
attend.
But if she went, would she be forcibly detained and never be able to return? NôvelDrama.Org content rights.
She was torn. Her fingers were constantly fiddling on the table, caught in the most challenging decision
of
her life.
Leopold took in her strange reaction.
“Your body isn’t suited for long–distance travel, better let Kelly go.” Leopold said.
“I can do it.” She blurted out, as if stung.
This was a once–in–a–lifetime opportunity, and she didn’t want to miss it.
The reason Kelly was still standing was firstly because a new product had just been released. If a
plagiarism scandal broke out, it would seriously affect the sales of the new product. Secondly, she had
enough reputation in the jewelry world. To replace her, an outstanding opportunity was needed.
“The Jewelry Show is next month. I have just passed the critical period and can fly. Paris is cold. I’ll
wear a coat, all wrapped up. No one will be able to tell, so there’s no need to worry.” Aurelia said.
She held onto a glimmer of hope, wanting to take a gamble. Perhaps Elowen was just trying to scare
her.
Leopold’s deep, dark eyes shone mysteriously under the light. “You pick the staff from your department
to go with you” Leopold said.
“Okay” Aurelia nodded with a beaming smile, quickly finishing her meal, “Mr. Leopold, I’ll get back to
work now, and get my passport tomorrow”
Watching her leave, Leopold’s lips curled into a sly smile. Although she was a bit scheming, she was a
model employee for the company.
Back in his office, he took a small sip of his Earl Grey tea. Kevin whispered, “The arrangements have
been made in Switzerland. When the time comes, we’ll quietly transfer Ms. Aurelia from Paris to
Switzerland for a secret delivery”
He nodded slightly, his eyes gradually darkening.

Back at her desk, Aurelia couldn’t help but fantasize about her trip to Paris.
Paris, the city of art, was a dream destination for every artist. Notre Dame, the Louvre, Eiffel Tower,
and Palace of Versailles. All were masterpieces of art. Most importantly, she could seize this
opportunity to showcase her talents.
Then, a client from the Haute Couture Department came in. He wanted a custom diamond necklace
and specifically requested Aurelia to design it.
Aurelia was surprised to see it was Arnold. She escorted him to the meeting room. “Is it a gift for your
girlfriend?” Aurelia asked.
Arnold shrugged, “I don’t have a girlfriend. It’s for my aunt. Her birthday is next month.”
“Your aunt? Ms. Elowen’s mother?” Aurelia asked.
Aurelia remembered Laura mentioning that Elowen’s mother was Chad’s sister.
Arnold shook his head, “Her mother is my younger aunt. The one I’m talking about is my elder aunt,
biological one.”
He then looked down, a touch of sadness in his eyes, “My mother passed away early. When my father
wasn’t home, my aunt took care of me. Now, with my father gone too, my aunt is the closest family I
have.”
His words struck a chord with Aurelia.
Once Leopold and Elowen get married and have children, wouldn’t her child become redundant?
Would they end up in a similar tragic situation?
“Was your mother always abroad?” Aurelia asked.
“Yeah.” Arnold nodded, his expression even gloomier, “When she died, I wasn’t there. I didn’t even get
to say goodbye.”
Aurelia’s heart clenched. Was Elowen not bluffing? Was she really going to be forcibly sent abroad, and
to die in a foreign land?
