Chapter 21: A long time friend
Stephen unclenched Bonnie’s right hand and they both stared.
At first, Bonnie was shocked as she remembered holding the note in her hand but it was suddenly gone.
She regained her composure and looked up at Stephen. “What the fuck are you looking for? What is happening?”
Stephen’s face went into shock and he tried to conceal it. It was as if he wasn’t expecting what he saw. He cleared his throat meaningfully. “I’m sorry but we got information that you were with an incriminating note. I’m sorry for the inconvenience.”
Bonnie shook free from the soldiers and feigned annoyance. ” Are you normal? What do you mean by an incriminating note? Who the fuck sent you here?”
Stephen looked away. ” I’m sorry,” then he looked away. ” Let’s go.”
And before Bonnie could say another word, Stephen was already walking away with the rest of the men.
Bonnie slowly released the breath she didn’t even know she was holding. She was grateful that they didn’t see the note with her, yet she wondered where she had dropped it.
Her heart skipped at the fact that the note might have dropped in her hand on her way. But what if someone else had taken it?
She managed to walk back inside the room and her legs threatened to break under her. Her heart was still pounding madly in her chest and a headache had suddenly set in.
“Who the fuck are you?” A soft voice sounded behind her suddenly.
Bonnie looked back at Mercury and her skeptical gaze. “What do you mean?”
Mercury turned around and opened the door. She stretched her head out for a moment and soon closed the door.
She took a step closer to Bonnie. “You’re not Luna, you are not Gwen. Who the fuck are you?”
Bonnie’s lips quivered. ” What the fuck are you saying? Are you trying to look down on me?”
Mercury regarded her for a moment. ” Then I should have handed the note to Stephen the other time.”
Bonnie went gobsmacked again. ” What note!”
” The note you took from Elixir. I saw you and well, it dropped from you and I picked it up. I’ve also read the content. It’s really incriminating. If Stephen had found it on you, you would have been gone.”
Bonnie blinked once, then twice. She went incoherent for a moment, unable to believe her eyes or her ears. It was actually Mercury that had saved her?
Bonnie let out a sigh finally. “Why didn’t you hand it over?”
“Because,” she stretched out the note. “You were about to get killed, whatever you are.”
Bonnie blinked again, skeptical but she took the note from her.
” You saved me because you knew I would be killed if I was caught with it? But why?”
” I work in good faith. I don’t have a master but I follow what’s right. And it seemed like someone is playing this part and you are definitely one of the characters that will die in the movie, if care isn’t taken,” she explained with a straight face.
Bonnie regarded her for a moment. “Thank you,” she looked away again. “I guess I should tell you who I am as a payback for saving my life,” she sucked in breathe and looked up again, to meet Mercury’s gaze. “I’m not Gwen, I’m Bonnie.”
It was Mercury’s turn to be surprised. “Bonnie? But how?”
“My father was framed and I was supposed to step in as Gwen before she was found,” she sobbed silently. It wasn’t because she wanted Mercury to pity her, it was because she didn’t even know what to do.
Mercury took another step closer. “Bonnie? You,” her voice went off for a moment. ” You don’t remember me? Mercury, when we were twelve years old?”
Bonnie’s eyes thinned on her as she tried to remember something. Was there any Mercury she knew?
“It’s a lion!” A tiny voice screamed in her head suddenly and Bonnie saw an image displayed in front of her. She saw her young self, staring at the lion.
“I’m scared. I don’t want to die,” another young girl sobbed. She was on the floor, just opposite the lion. The lion was watching her as if deciding on how to attack her.
Bonnie took out her little fireworks and quickly set it on fire. The fireworks exploded in the air and she looked back at the lion.
The lion crouched for a moment and suddenly advanced closer to the young girl.
Bonnie leaped forward and caught the lion. The lion took her instead and pinned her to the floor. It roared and moved his face closer to her body.
Suddenly, it was yanked away from Bonnie and a loud howl filled the air.
“Dad!” Bonnie smiled happily and raced back to the girl. “Are you ok? My dad is here already. He will save us.”
The girl looked up at Bonnie with a bright smile. ” Thank you.”
“What’s your name? I’m Bonnie,” the carefree girl introduced with a wide smile.
“I’m Mercury,” the second girl reciprocated her smile.

And the images extended further but Bonnie was quick to jerk back to reality as she pulled Mercury into a bear hug.Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
“It has been a long time!’ Mercury said as she hugged her back. She suddenly pulled back to look at Bonnie again. “But what, does this mean that it was your father that got poisoned?”
Bonnie nodded sadly.
” But how come. Why did the Alpha accuse you guys of something like that?”
Bonnie sobbed quietly. ” I wish I knew. The only thing I can pick up right now is the fact that I can’t trust Elixir now. Something tells me she has already betrayed me.”
Mercury raised skeptical brows at her. ” Does she know who you truly are?”
Bonnie nodded and spread the note to check what was on it. She read; I’m sorry Bonnie but I was truly the one that killed Gwen. I thought you could have a nice life like that. And it was also a way to get back at Xavier. I will kill myself. So, you are supposed to pretend you are Gwen. You can get out of the palace and return as Gwen. Then, everything will be fine. And you will be fine.”
Bonnie’s mouth went open in shock. She doesn’t even believe it! Why would her father write such a note! Why would he?
“What the fuck is happening here?” A thick voice jerked Bonnie out of the thoughts she was about to put herself in. She vibrated slightly and needed no one to tell her who it was.
The note was still in her hand as she stared at Xavier.
