Chapter 73
Chapter 73
“With the party going on, no one would come here. Please give me the earring,” Sheridan demanded when they reached a summer hut. There was nobody there, and it was exceptionally quiet as everyone was enjoying the party indoors.
“If you just wanted the earring, then you wouldn’t have brought me here,” Alpha Nick analyzed before* asking, “How did you know that I had it?”
Sheridan felt cornered but did not relent. Her head was lifted high, and she looked dazzling. Alpha Nick did not take his eyes off her all this while. It was as if he would miss something of great importance if he did.
“The manager you called informed me. I’m already aware of your partnership, but can we keep our relationship professional?” Sheridan asked seriously, and Alpha Nick’s gaze dulled. He realized his mistakes too late and didn’t know how to reach out to her.
“Sheila, Sheridan. Who are you?” He asked in a pleading tone, Sheila’s head was still raised as she stretched her arms towards him…
“I’m Sheridan Warner, the Alpha King’s only daughter with seven elder brothers. And you are?” She pretended to not even know him, making him grossly upset.
“Cut the crap, Sheila. So you think I didn’t deserve to know?” Disappointment laced his voice as pain shone in his eyes. Sheridan didn’t feel like she owed him an explanation, and his painful look was merely a façade.
“I already told you. All this meant nothing to me. I gave it all up before, but sadly, I had to return to it. Do I have to remind you that we are divorced?” Alpha Nick understood what she was driving at, but the more she spoke, the more he felt like she was hiding something. Then again, he woke up naked with her earring. How could that coincidence be explained?
“How did your earring get into my hotel room?” He asked seriously, guilt flashed in Sheridan’s eyes but was soon gone.
“You tell me.”
Ipha Nick balled his fingers, trying to calm his rage. “Sheila, something happened between us,” he irectly pointed out, and Sheridan’s heart thumped. If she admitted it, he would insist on taking
esponsibility and would never leave her alone.
What would she tell her parents? That she slept with another woman’s mate? No, this was too much for
her to bear.
‘What are you talking about? Nothing happened. You approached me and got into a fight with AlphaProperty belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
Ansaldo. I separated you both. I must have lost the earring by then.” It wasn’t in her to lie, but the
situation demanded it.
Unfortunately for her, Alpha Nick was far from believing it. “My clothes were scattered on the floor when
I woke up, but the earring was underneath me. You are lying this time,” he accused her, feeling
disgruntled.
“I think you had a little too much to drink. You can keep the earring.” Sheridan turned to leave. She would rather let go of the earring than have him back in her life.
Before she made a move, Alpha Nick grabbed her arm and swung her around, caging her safely in his‘
embrace. Sheila’s heart thumped wildly at the closeness, so many things began to rush through her
mind.
This was the first time Alpha Nick held her so close. He also didn’t look drunk but in his right mind. She had wanted this before but not anymore. Regaining herself, she began to pull away from him. “Let me
go.”
Instead of letting go, he buried his face in the crook of her neck, nibbling slightly at her smooth white
skin.
Sheila’s eyes were teary as she felt strangely hot. She thought she had gotten over him, but it didn’t seem so. Ashamed and feeling upset with herself, s
his gaze was dark.
“How is it that you have the same scent as the sheets in the hotel room?”
Sheila gasped. She forgot that Alpha wolves were very sensitive to smell. No wonder he buried his neck in the crook of her neck. He was sniffing her scent. If she had known, she wouldn’t have used her
favorite cologne for the party, but how could she have known that he would attend?
There was no way out with the lies, so she came straight. “I was drugged, and so were you. Everything that happened was an accident. Can I have the earring now?” She asked, eager to leave.
Alpha Nick’s heart warmed. So, it was Sheila he had se*x with. That was a great relief. Since they were married before, they could make things right, and this time, he was sure to treat her better as she deserved.
Still, he couldn’t help but wonder. “Who drugged us?”
Sheridan did not want a war between two packs because of her. Knowing Alpha Nick, he wouldn’t let it go. “It had nothing to do with you. I was the target, but you were just the victim.”
“Tell me, is it Charlotte?” Alpha Nick asked, suddenly lining Charlotte with all his misfortunes. Sheila was surprised as he never believed anything negative about Charlotte before, so what was going on?
She knew that Charlotte was involved with Alpha Nick’s best friend, but she was certain that Alpha Nick did not know about it.
“Why are you thinking so badly about your mate suddenly? No. It wasn’t her, but I took care of it,” Sheridan said honestly, not wanting to create problems for him. They were divorced, and he had a mate waiting for him.
“And you wiped the cameras. You had no right,” Alpha Nick said sternly, thinking about all the sleep he lost thinking about the mysterious woman. Sheridan had no regrets for doing what she did.
If not for her earring, Alpha Nick would not have found a clue, but how could she have found it when he had slept on it? Luck did not seem to be on her side.
“I did what I had to do. Are you not afraid that your mate would find out?” She asked with a cold glare. Alpha Nick wanted to tell her his findings about Charlotte, but then Sheridan might think it was the reason why he came.
“Aside from Sherry’s couture and hacking, what else are you good at?” Alpha Nick asked curiously. Sheridan shrugged, a small smile lining her face. She saw that he asked with good intentions and responded,
“Well, you just have to search it out.”
Alpha Nick smiled back and held her two hands in his. “Sheila, the pack needs you. Ma’am needs you, and I also need you. Let’s get married for real.”
