Take Me Away

Chapter 96 Worries

Chapter 96 Worries

At the conference room

It was around 11:00 p.m. when the emergency conference came to a halt. Spencer massaged his

temples as he looked at his watch.

"Spencer, we will get going if there's nothing else." Eric stood up. "We have a meeting with the

representatives from P City tomorrow."

Spencer nodded. "Okay. You should go."

"You should head back too. We have a lot to do."

"I know. I'll leave in a moment."

"Okay, we're leaving then." Eric stood up with the rest and headed back.

Once the others all left, the conference room became silent. Spencer took out his cell phone and dialed

Terence's number without a second thought.

The phone rang for so long that Spencer became annoyed.

Just when he was about to hang up, Terence attended the call. Spencer heard his angry voice coming

from the other end.

"What are you doing, Spencer? You'd better have something really important to say! Else you'll be

dead meat!" Terence said furiously.

Spencer chuckled. "Were you asleep? Don't you have a nightlife? Terence, it's high time you get a

girlfriend."

"Yeah, right. I can't compete with you, Mr. Cheng. You're so indulgent with your women." Terence tried

to calm down, but his emotions got the better of him. "How does it feel to have Celine and Fiona

clinging to your arms all the time? Is the excitement so much to handle that you're calling me to come

over to help you?"

When Spencer heard this, his handsome face darkened. "I was going to talk to you about something."

Terence snorted. "What a show-off! I have enough things to deal with already. Don't try to spite me by

showing off your girlfriend collection to me."

"Spite you? Why would I try to do that? Stop being so annoying. I'm going crazy," Spencer retorted

furiously.

Finally, Terence's curiosity got the better of him. Besides, he found Spencer's anger amusing. "Fine,

what did you call to talk to me about? Tell me now."

"Two women are too much to handle."

"What's wrong? Did Celine get into a fight with Fiona?" On second thought, Terence realized that it was

unlikely for that to happen. "Wait, no, that doesn't sound right. Fiona would never get into a fight with

someone. It's unlike her. Did you fight with her?

It's okay if you two fought. I'll gladly take Fiona's side without thinking twice." Spencer stood up and

paced back and forth in the conference room with his hands on his hips. "I wanted to take the two of

them to the base so that I can protect them, but it seems I miscalculated the situation. Celine and Fiona

aren't getting along at all, and I'm torn apart between them. I need to put an end to this."

"That's simple! Ask Celine to leave and go back to M City. Your birthday is coming up in a few days and

I'm pretty sure you wouldn't want Fiona gone."

Spencer snorted. "You brat! Celine got shot because of me, and she still hasn't recovered, so it's not

good to send her back. And besides...I don't want her gone."

"I never thought of you as a greedy person, Spencer! You want to date two women at the same time,"

Terence cried incredulously.

"What the fuck are you talking about?" Spencer shouted back. "I just don't want her to be targeted if

she goes back. I still remembered what happened at the airport last time. The people from P City are

here to help us solve the problem. I am not as bad as you think!"

"Who knows! It is possible to rekindle the flame between you and Celine. She sacrificed her life to save

you. Isn't it possible that that might move you to fall in love with her again?"

Spencer's expression darkened. "This is exactly what I'm worried about. Celine... Ultimately, it is my

fault. Six years ago, I promised to be there for her, and yet I let her go."

"She is your sister. But if you can persuade your father and Anna to get a divorce, you can be with

Celine." Terence sighed.

"What? You're kidding, right? Terence, you can't sound so serious when you're talking rubbish. This is

my life matter. Stop joking around. I'm asking you for a solution, not to make a fucking joke of my

problems!" Spencer was upset.

Terence frowned. "I really was being serious. If there was an option to stop being Celine's brother,

would you be with her again?"

For a moment, Spencer was dumfounded. Then he said, "What are you saying? Even if she's not my

sister anymore, do you think Grandpa would ever agree to let us be together?"

"Don't run away from the question! Don't use your grandpa as an excuse. I want to know what you

think."

"I..." Spencer trailed off, and then smiled. "Of course not! I'm already married. Since Fiona lost a child

because of me, I will make it up for her."

Terence finally smiled. "You're so stubborn. You confessed to me last time, remember?" Then, he

repeated Spencer's confession in the same tone he'd used earlier. "I like her. I don't know when I

started to have feelings for her and I don't know how serious I am about her."

When Spencer heard his own words, his face turned red with embarrassment. "I clearly remember

what I said. I don't need you to remind me again!"

Terence burst into laughter. "All right, all right! As long as you remember it, it's all fine."

"Stop laughing! You haven't given me a solution to my problem yet." Spencer found that dealing with

women was harder than dealing with his work.

"Does Celine still love you?" Terence asked him.

"Well... maybe." Spencer frowned.

"You need to let her know that there's no hope for you both. Tell her you don't love her anymore and

that you've fallen in love with Fiona now. Let bygones be bygones."

"Easy for you to say."

Terence shook his head. "Is it that hard to do? I don't think so. Are you going to keep leading her on?

What about your wife? You say you love her, but you won't let go of Celine, who is your sister now. Isn't

that sick?"

"You're the one who's sick!" Spencer roared. Then, calming down, he added, "Besides, Fiona still

doesn't have a clue about my feelings for her."

Terence was speechless. He had a lot of things to say but the words were stuck in his throat.

"Hello?" When he didn't get a response from Terence, Spencer got confused. "Why aren't you saying

anything? Is the connection bad? Can you hear me? Terence?"

"Dude! Are you nuts?" Terence yelled after a long pause. "Did you hide your feelings from Fiona on

purpose? She went through an abortion because of you. You should have at least confessed your

feelings after that. Or would you rather have her hate you? Why haven't you told her yet? When you

confessed your true feelings to me, I thought you told Fiona as well."

"No. She said she hated me! That's why..." Spencer wasn't so confident anymore. "I don't dare to say

anything to her. I think she will reject me. I bullied her so much before..."

"You deserve it!" Terence spoke mercilessly. "You brought this upon yourself! You take care of Celine

because of your guilt, but Fiona doesn't know that. She thinks that you still love Celine. She has no

idea that you're in love with her."

"Shit!"

Spencer cursed under his breath. "If what you say is true, what do I do?"

Terence shook his head in disappointment. "Confess to her, of course. You should tell her how you

really feel. Don't you want a life with her? Once you tell her your true feelings, she will be all yours."

"She is mine," Spencer grumbled.

"You don't believe that yourself," Terence said firmly. "Do you trust me? If you trust me, you should let

Fiona know that you love her. If not, she will get the wrong impression."Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.

"Tell her?" Spencer gulped. "Why do I need to tell her? We're already married. It's over. This is boring."

"I don't care anymore!" Terence yelled impatiently. "I'm so tired of trying to talk sense into you. I haven't

even sorted out my own life yet."

With that, he hung up all of a sudden.

Spencer froze. "Why is he so angry? Humph! What a jerk,"

he grumbled to himself and rolled his eyes. 'Terence does make sense. It would be a serious mistake

to not confess to Fiona. I have to do something before it's too late. But what do I tell her?' he wondered.

The truth was, he felt embarrassed. He loved Fiona, but he didn't know how to verbally express his

feelings for her. It wasn't like him to talk about feelings.

In her bed, Fiona tossed and turned, unable to sleep. The moonlight shone beautifully outside her

window. Even under the warm covers, she felt cold. Was she unable to fall asleep because of

Spencer's absence?

'What an idiot,' she cursed herself.

Then, suddenly remembering the provocation from Celine, she felt a surge of discomfort.

At that moment, she heard the click of the door being unlocked.

Then, someone crept in.

It was Spencer! Sensing him walking towards the bed, Fiona finally felt a peace of mind.

Spencer didn't turn on the light as he quietly walked to the bed. He took off his clothes and slipped

under the covers. When he reached out to hold her, Fiona said in a cold voice, "Don't touch me."

"Fiona, you're still awake?" Spencer withdrew his hand feeling embarrassed.

"I will sleep soon," Fiona said with a hint of anger.

"I see." Spencer took a deep breath and pursed his lips. "Well... Fiona, I... I..."

"I'm sleepy. Let's talk tomorrow." Fiona shifted away from him and closed her eyes.

All the courage Spencer had mustered vanished into thin air. "Well, goodnight then."

In the dead of the night, Fiona snored in her sleep while Spencer was still wide awake.

'Fiona, I love you. I wish you knew that,' he said inwardly.
