Millie’s words elicited a chuckle from Joanna.

“Millie, you’re quite strange, aren’t you? After all, I’m Win’s next wife. Yet, here you are, calmly chatting with me.”

Joanna could not help but burst into laughter.

Millie rubbed her nose, thinking that Joanna was a fool. Of course, she was sitting there to enjoy the spectacle.

Putting on an aggrieved expression, Millie responded, “What else can I do? With your cunning ways, I can’t possibly outwit you, Ms. Lowell.”

“It’s not that you can’t outwit me. It’s just that Winston’s not backing you up,” Joanna countered. With Winston supporting Joanna, she had been able to get away with her antics all these years.

Millie never liked it when Joanna spoke. However, she silently acknowledged the truth behind her

comment.

Millie lowered her head.

The corners of Joanna’s lips curled into a smirk. She felt satisfied. “What’s wrong? Did I hit a nerve? Honestly, I’m curious, Millie. Since Winston doesn’t love you, how did you manage to hold on for three years?

Millie locked eyes with Joanna. This text is property of Nô/velD/rama.Org.

Sitting on the opposite side of the coffee table, Joanna bent forward and stared at Millie.

Didston ever touch you?”

Millie’s breath caught for a moment before asking in return, “Did he touch you?”

Speaking of this issue, a subtle hint of anger flickered in Joanna’s eyes.

She had been dating Winston for three years. Yet, she had not been accepted by the Greer family. To make matters worse, Winston had never touched her, too.

She could not help but recall that night by the beach when she had leaned in to kiss him, only for him. to avoid her instinctively.

That was utterly humiliating to Joanna.

She gulped before staring at Millie, asking, “He’s a normal man who loves me so much. What do you

think?”

How could she possibly admit to Millie that she had never been intimate with Winston?

Although Winston had never touched her, she was determined to convince Millie otherwise.

Joanna batted her eyelashes and shyly asked, “Wasn’t it obvious enough when you saw me wearing his clothes that morning at the villa?”

Memories of that morning flooded back to Millie.

Joanna had been wearing Winston’s white shirt while he had just finished showering.

Millie figured they had slept together countless times over the past three years.

Given Joanna’s allure, it was no wonder Winston did not spare Millie a single glance for three years.

“I really pity you, Millie.”

Joanna’s voice was like a thorn, piercing into Millle’s heart.

Millie lowered her gaze, a faint smile playing on her lips.

Not being touched was not pitiful. What was truly sorrowful was holding onto such a marriage and

partner.

Joanna glanced at her phone and could not help but complain inwardly, “It’s already past 1:00 pm. Why isn’t M here yet?”

Was that scammer going to stand her up again?

Sensing Joanna’s inner anxiety, Millie suddenly said, “Joanna, I won’t tease you for not knowing M.”

Joanna frowned as soon as she heard that.

Just as she was about to scold her, Millie continued, “Look, so much time has passed since the time you agreed to meet. He clearly isn’t taking you seriously.

“Joanna, I’m not waiting anymore. You can wait on your own.”

With that, Millie stood up. It was evident that she did not believe Joanna knew M.

Joanna panicked. “M will definitely come today! If he doesn’t show up, I’ll jinx myself!” she shouted.

“But it’s been so long,” Millie reminded her in a hushed tone.

Then, Joanna retrieved her phone. “I have M’s contact. I’ll text him right now!”

She approached Millie and insisted on showing her the conversation she had with M.

After that, Joanna opened their conversation. But before she could send the message, she noticed

that M’s profile picture and last–seen status were no longer visible.

“Um…” Millie began.
