In fact, I really like that white dress qutside too. If we’re short on fire,

that one will do. It’s this

As the person spoke, they emerged from the office. Millie glanced up, meeting their startled gaze.

“Millie?”

Millie narrowed her eyes. Who else could it be but Joanna? It really was a small world. She couldn’t even pick out a gown without running into

Joanna

Joanna raised an eyebrow, then broke into a smile. If Millie was at the boutique at this time, it could only mean….

“Are you here to find a dress for the cruise party?” she asked.

Millie pressed her lips together and calmly answered, “Yes.”

“What a coincidence! I’ll be there too,” Joanna replied, crinkling her eyes slightly, a gesture that only made her look even more beautiful.

Millie nodded. She wasn’t surprised at all. After all, the cruise party was the kind of event that wealthy families would attend. As the heiress of one of the Four Great Families, there was no way

Joanna would miss it.

“But I’ll be going with Win. I’m his plus one.” Joanna’s smile widened, revealing a hint of smug satisfaction.

Millie’s eyebrows shot up. Yet, she remained indifferent. She then turned to the staff and said, “I’d like to try on this dress.”

“Millie, you’ve got your eyes on this dress too?” Joanna immediately

glanced at the white gown hanging before them.

Millie smiled. “You like it as well?”

“We really do have the same taste, don’t we?” Joanna couldn’t help but

sigh as she stared at the dress.

From their education to the man they liked, and now this–everything they were interested in was the same,

“So it seems,” Millie agreed. “Ms. Lowell, since you like this dress, I’ll let you have it.”

In fact, it wasn’t just this dress. Millie was more than willing to let Joanna have whatever she wanted. After all, those who were truly strong wouldn’t get caught up in life’s little obstacles.

“Listen to yourself, Millie. You make it sound like I’m always taking what you love!”

Joanna lifted her chin, cast a quick look at the dress, and said flatly, ” But since you like it, I won’t insist on having it. Winning too much is pointless, anyway.”

Millie rolled her eyes inwardly upon hearing that. Besides Winston, what exactly had she won? Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.

Joanna continued with a smile, “I’ve already had Leah work on a custom design for me. She’s on a break and isn’t taking new clients right now. But Win has put in a word for me, and she agreed to help me out.”

“Oh? Is she not designing for others anymore? I was thinking of asking her to make something for me too.” Millie narrowed her eyes and intentionally played along.

Joanna brushed her hair back and crossed her arms, looking arrogant. You? Leah only takes orders from the Four Great Families. Even I had to rely on Win’s influence. As for you… I highly doubt she’d take on your

request, so you might as well go with this white dresa ”

Clicking her tongue, she commented, “Besides, it does suit you quite

Joanna’s underlying message was clear. Millie had to settle for this rented gown. The disdain in her voice was unmistakable, and Millie found it incredibly frustrating.

“I still want to see Leah,” Millie responded with a smirk

Joanna scoffed. “You can’t just see Leah whenever you want. She’s not some local dressmaker. She’s a famous designer! You should just give up on that idea.”

Millie nodded in acknowledgment. However, she refused to listen.

At that moment, a woman walked out of the office.

“What are you talking about? I could hear you from upstairs,” she remarked with a smile.

“Leah!” Joanna immediately rushed over to greet her, saying. “This is Millie Caldwell. She wants you to design a custom dress for her. But i told her you’re not-”

Before Joanna could finish her sentence, Leah pushed her hand away and approached Millie. “Millie, you’re here!”
