Rules Of Our Own: Chapter 43
SOFT LIPS PRESS against my temple, drawing me slowly from sleep, and my eyes blink open. River’s sitting on the edge of the bed, leaning over me with a soft, boyish smile. They’re becoming less and less rare, and it sends warmth flooding through my chest.
“Morning.” I bite the corner of my lip.
River’s hair is all over the place, some strands pushed back, others dusting the corner of his eyes. “Morning, Love.” He guides a strand of my hair behind my ear, and my skin tingles under his touch. “I’m going to make us some breakfast.”
I go to sit up, but Alex’s arm tightens around my middle, and he mumbles into the curve of my neck. “Five more minutes.”
A bubble of laughter builds in my chest, but it’s cut short when he places an open-mouth kiss on my shoulder, his tongue running along the edge.
“Hmmm…taste good, Kitten.”
I stiffen. “Shit! Crookshanks!”
“Don’t worry, I checked on him last night. He’s all set,” River says and stands before walking out of the room.
“See? All he wants—” Alex places barely there kisses up the curve to my ear. “—is to take care of you.”
I tilt my head to give him better access. “And you.”
He freezes behind me, and several seconds pass before he speaks again. “I kissed River.”
“I know, I was there. And?”
I can’t see his face from this position, but I can almost feel his hesitation. “It…made me come.”
“Why is that so fucking hot?” I hum and turn in his arms. I’m immediately accosted by the sight of his naked chest.
“Hot? Hey, Kitten. Eyes up here.”
My gaze snaps to his. He still looks so uncertain that my heart aches. “Sorry.”
Alex searches my eyes. “You’re not mad?”
“Mad? Why would I be mad?” The sight of River’s tongue stroking into Alex’s mouth will be permanently imprinted on my brain. The moment felt right, almost meant to be.
“Well, jealous?” Alex clarifies.Property © 2024 N0(v)elDrama.Org.
I go completely still, ice freezing my lungs. “Why? Are you saying that you guys want your own space?” I take a deep breath, struggling to get the next part out. “ I can do that.”
His brows shoot up. “No, of course not.”
“Asshole. Don’t scare me like that—”
He cuts me off, kissing me long and deep until my fingers curl in his hair. “We’re in this together. All three of us, right?”
“Yeah.” My voice comes out as a rasp. “I say have some fun. Explore, see if anything sparks in you.”
He nods, then runs a finger down the bridge of my nose and smiles. “River said you’d be cool about this.”
“Did he?”
“Said you knew.”
“I’ve known about how he looks at you.”
His eyes widen. “What does that mean?”
“Oh no. You two have to figure that out.”
Alex makes a playful growl sound, pulling me over his chest and kissing me hard. Once we’re both panting, he pulls back. “So we’re good?”
“Are you good?” I ask. “Does it turn you on to know that River wants you?”
“Yes.”
“Then we’re good.”
He nods, his eyes focused on the ceiling, and I can practically see the wheels turning in his head.
I run my thumb along his jaw and tilt it down. “Hey. Just remember, this doesn’t mean anything has to happen. Hell, you might just like the idea of it. Feel it out. Go at your own pace. There’s no pressure, however this goes. It’s okay to be unsure. There’s no one making you label anything. Trust River. He’ll help you figure it out.”
Alex rests his nose against mine. “Thank you.”
“For what?”
“Everything.”
