Clara and her entourage stormed up to Sebastian. Their expressions were fierce and menacing, as if they were ready to pounce on him.
"Ms. Clara, you've got to stand up for us!" the housekeepers pleaded, their faces smeared with fake tears.
Anyone unfamiliar with the situation might have believed they were the victim.
"Fool, how dare you strike them? Who gave you the nerve?" Clara asked angrily.
"Ms. Clara, I didn't hit anyone. They attacked me first," Sebastian explained.
"Shut up! Do you think they could have broken their own limbs while attacking you? You've already committed an unforgivable act by hitting someone, and you still refuse to show any remorse? You're beyond saving. Someone, break his limbs!" she ordered.
Sebastian's face remained impassive as he stared at the group. He couldn't understand why they targeted him. He worked diligently every day and never caused trouble. So, why were they set on bullying him?
Kevin and the others surrounded Sebastian. They cracked their knuckles and sneered.
"Stop! What are you doing?" A voice interrupted just as they were about to act.
Everyone turned to see a striking woman striding toward them.
"Ms. Artemis!" Everyone except Clara quickly bowed in respect.
Artemis, the third in line, was a direct descendant.
"Seamus, are you okay?" Artemis approached and voiced her worry.
Sebastian shook his head.
She looked at the housekeepers with broken limbs and then turned to Clara. "Is there some kind of misunderstanding here?"
"With their limbs broken, how could there be a misunderstanding? Am I supposed to be falsely accusing a housekeeper?" Clara snorted.
"That's not what I meant. But I know Seamus, and he wouldn't attack without reason." Artemis said. She turned to Sebastian and asked, "Tell me honestly what happened here?"
"Ms. Artemis, they forced me to wash a huge pile of dirty clothes. When I refused, saying it wasn't my job, they attacked me and ended up breaking their own limbs," Sebastian explained.
"Hah!" Clara scoffed, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Artemis, have you ever heard of someone breaking their own limbs while trying to hit someone? Do you really think anyone will believe that story?"
Artemis frowned, sensing the implausibility of Sebastian's account. She turned to him and asked, "Seamus, you need to tell me the truth. Only then can I help you."
"Ms. Artemis, I swear it's the truth. You have to believe me," Sebastian stated firmly.
She frowned, unsure of whom to believe, as his word seemed far-fetched.
"Artemis, surely even you don't believe his story. There must be repercussions for those who hurt others. Otherwise, how can we justify the harm done to these victims?" Clara said coldly.
"Please do this for me as a favor. Spare Seamus this time, and I promise it won't happen again," Artemis pleaded desperately.
She knew all too well how ruthless Clara could be. To Clara, breaking bones was only the tip of the iceberg.
"I suppose I can cut him some slack, but I have to ensure justice for these injured parties," Clara said.
