Chapter 8
Veronica looked at Alpha Derick with a pitiful expression, unable to believe that he wouldn’t pity her.
Alpha Derick appeared weary but spoke with unwavering resolve, “She is my Luna, not someone you can hit at will.” Veronica’s eyes widened in disbelief, her face contorted with rage.
For the first time, Alpha Derick chose me over her.
For the first time, Alpha Derick publicly let her endure such humiliation.
In the past, I would have been moved by Alpha Derick’s actions.s.
But now, my heart was summoved.

I werent straight home and began packing my thinings.
I had stayed in this house for Hadley’s sake.
But now, there was nothing here left to cherish.
I packed up a few things and prepared to leave.
Turning around, I saw Alpha Derick standing at the door.
He looked haggard, as if he had aged a decade in an instant, no longer the vigorous Alpha he once was.
His eyes, red and filled with sorrow, gazed at me.
“Eileen… please don’t leave. Stay and let me make it right.”
Seeing me with my bags, Alpha Derick felt as if he were losing something forever, desperately trying to hold on to me.
“Do you really think you can make it right?”
My voice was hoarse, but my gaze was devoid of emotion.
My heart had already died, and my wolf had lost its spirit. We no longer trusted him, even if it meant being cast out of the pack and becoming a rogue.
“I know Hadley’s death is my fault, but if you leave too, I honestly don’t know how I’ll go on.”
Alpha Derick spoke urgently, “I know I’ve neglected you and Hadley for Veronica over the years, but there’s really nothing between us. Her parents were old friends of mine. They fought to protect the pack and died. Before they passed, they asked me to take care of her. I’ve always treated her like a sister and never done anything inappropriate. Believe me.” As he spoke, Alpha Derick reached out to grab me.
“Don’t touch me!”
I stepped back, avoiding his touch. “What happens between you and her is none of my concern! I’ve already rejected you!”
“No! Eileen, I haven’t agreed to this. We’re destined mates by the Moon; you can’t leave me!”
Alpha Derick looked at me with a strange expression. “Eileen, after being together for over twenty years, you’ve always cared for this family. You wouldn’t just give up on us so easily, would you?”
