Chapter 97
FOUR YEARS LATER
"Athena, dance.".
Atlas
I
I beamed.
was the one talking and my heart warmed to see my daughter dancing like Atlas's asked her to.
say 'Jack Robinson,' she walked up to her brother, took his arm and bit hard into it.
That meant she understood what he said and that was human. Who said that my daughter could never have a human part? It was down there. It just needed to be pulled up to the surface. She's dancing weirdly, Conn, her twin brother scoffed.
Conri cried out.
Before Mom!!" C Panicking, I rushed to them and tried to pull Athena away, but my efforts were futile. The twins were both of Beta blood and that made them stronger than I was even though they were just four. Athena, on the other hand, was more like her father, so she was stronger than her brother.
As a result, none of us were able to stop her. The only person here that could help was...Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
"Athena,"
Atlas yelled and he pulled her away from her brother, his nails sinking deep into Athena's shoulders.
Atlas's Alpha instincts had kicked in and he saved Conri from his twin sister. Atlas took her into his arms and made her wear her mouth guard. "Aunt, take Conri to the hospital. I'll take care of Athena," Atlas said.
I looked at them, a bit reluctant and confused. Conri's healing was slow and he was bleeding profusely, but I could not leave Athena with Atlas. What if she did something to him? Atlas had Alpha blood flowing through his veins and he was a year older, but I was told to expect anything with Athena.
I
I won't be able to forgive myself if anything happened to Atlas and I was sure the pack won't forgive me if anything happened to their heir. "Mother," Conri cried out t weakly.
I
"Take him to the physician," Atlas yelled. "Now!" Without wasting time
and
with tears in my eyes, I rushed Conri out of the room.
I looked back into the room. If Athena went wild, there was nothing much I could do anyway. She was stronger. She was only four but she was half as strong as her father, a Beta. I trained as a warrior, but as a werewolf with no rank by birth, and with the strength bestowed
on Athena as a as a result of f her moon sickness, I could not handle her. Her brother, perhaps, but Athena's strength was something else. The only wolf that could handle her was a wolf of Alpha's blood.
I took in a deep breath and rushed Conri to the physician like Atlas asked me to. In less than ten minutes, Darius, my mate chin. my joined me and more tears ran down
Darius was right. I should have listened to him. I should have listened to every one of his warnings, but I was just too greedy. "You were right," I cried out. "I should have listened to you."
Darius walked up to me and hugged me. "Your wants are totally valid. You did nothing wrong for wanting the things you do.

I blame my bad genes and that this had to happen in my time. I should be the one apologizing to you."
"That's not true," I said. It was not, I should be the person apologizing, not him. He could not control his genes. I, on the other hand, could control giving birth to a pup with moon sickness. I was blessed with twins. All I needed to do was to take out the pup with...

I had a break in thought. Why was I thinking of this? I felt guilty for the thoughts I had of Athena, but I couldn't help it. My eyes fell on Conri and more tears formed. I was a bad mother for letting this happen to him. If I was not selfish, he wouldn't be lying on a physician's bed now. He would have been running up and down the compound with his friends and he would have been playing pretend Alpha and Beta with Atlas, but no, I decided to be greedy. I wanted Athena too, but that was because I was a mother and that was totally normal of me, right? "You're brave." Darius planted a kiss on my forehead. "You're a warrior after all and we are in this together. We have to make sure she always wears her mouth guard. We should never take it off from now on."
I began to sob. That was not enough. I did not want my daughter to be like this forever. I wanted her to be normal and to never need a mouth guard.
"Stop crying. I'm trying my best to find a cure and I will never rest until I find one."
I believed him when he said that he will never rest until he finds a cure for our daughter's illness, but that does not mean he will find it. He could search every corner of the earth and do so all his life and still not find a cure. Him not finding a cure was the scary part of everything.
"I should have listened to you," I said, sobbing and he held me closer.
"I'm glad you did not. I love the twins so much. Both Conri and Athena. If you listened to me, there would have been no Conri and Athena. That would have been sad." He cupped my cheeks. "I'm glad you did not listen to me."
The physician was finally done with Conri and we took him home.
When we got home, we saw warriors and guards who belonged to the Alpha and not us.
"What is happening?" I asked when I saw our own guard and the reply I got was far from what I wanted to hear.
At first, the guard looked away, unable to say a word. "What happened?" I had to ask again.
"Talk," Darius, my mate, thundered. "My mate is asking you something. All you have to do is to give her an answer."
"It's Athena."
My heart skipped a bit. I looked around and she was nowhere to be found. Atlas too. My heart sank, hoping it was not what I was thinking.
"Athena is missing."
