Chapter 58
Elise felt a heavy weight of pressure on her shoulders as she muger back to her room, after her talk with Rygan; it took a lot of silent stare–downs before they’d agreed on her training alone with him.
She knew Rygan was only trying to protect her and going out of his way to help her shift, even though she had tried her very best to avoid him, it still ended up this way with them being alone after all. Her wolf beamed with happiness from it.
But she hated what this men to her wolf; she would be close to him again, and Moon knew what kind of things his proximity would do to her heart. It left her tossing and numing all night with questions until dawn came.
She made it out the door to Vienna’s cottage, recalling that she left her trainingar in Vienna’s care since her cottage had become a close comfort for Elise. She even had a cozy spare room kept for her, courtesy of Vienna’s doting
She goes to the pantry the moment she steps into the warm, cory house and the large fireplace. Knowing where Vienna kept her amazing cookies, she takes a piece, sits down by the kitchen Counter, and nibbles on the sweet snack when a door at the end of the small hallway opens.
Elise then heard the fast pattern of someone walking before Vica came into view, a look of relief on her face when she came into the kitchen. “Moons, Elise, where did you go after solstice night?” She asks the head female, who sits up and gives the healer atired smile.
I’m sorry it was so sudden”
“We were extremely worried; Bellamy was ready to go ransack the whole moon house and pack looking for you; it was only when I met up with Taz that he explained to me that there was an urgent meeting
“So you did meet “Taz?” Elise 1
mutters with a knowing smirk and brow raised at Vienna.
“This is not about what I did yesterday or who I met,” she scolded. “So don’t you dare change the subject, El?” she muttered. with a growling blush on her cheeks.
“I’m sorry I missed the rest of the show. I was called in because it was important. I’m sure my leaving was bizarre, and I’m truly sorry.”
“I mean, it’s not as bizarre as what happened in the clinic early this morning: Zach and his friends came in to treat a broken arm, but it was weird; they could hardly look at me like they were afraid of me; it was weird and almost hilarious,” he says to Elise.
But Vienna got quiet when she saw that there was hardly a smile on Elise’s face. “So something did happen; don’t make this burden too grave on yourself, Elise, I’m here for you,” she tells Elise, who finally takes a shuddering breath.
She tells Vienna what she cans; it was still a well–hidden secret until the ceremony, but she tells Vienna what she can.
“You mean to tell me that
Rygan is going to allow that monster in here?” She started with rage.
“Because I told him to,” she explained, but Vienna was far too angry to understand what she would do,
“Why? Just hearing about what you went through. Elise, it doesn’t even seem fair that the monster is still alive in the first place; talk more of him coming into the pack!!” She says.
“He won’t have his way. I’ll make sure of that, and it’s either we lei Kyren in or he calls a deadly duel with Rygan, and there is no reason Rygan should be fighting for me when I’m not his mate, and I’m tired of seeing people get hurt because of me,” she proclaims
Vienna could see the distraught and solemn look on Elise’s face before she hugged her. She understood why Elise was scared; she felt she still didn’t deserve to have a peaceful life.
“Alright, but if you need agghing. I’m here for you” she assured KliseBelongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“And 1 do have ent more thing to confess, Vienna” she utters the healer. “I kind of messed with Zach and his lackeys,” she blurs. There was silence as Vienna’s eyes widened, and the burnto laughter.
* knew it?” she smiled, jumping into Elise’s arms. “I’m proud you can fight hack and win against three malest You’re amazing. E” She called with a sense of pride showing on Vienna’s face that Elise could hold off on her own and had gotten a taste of her strength.
After her talk with Vienna, she changed into her sparring clothes and went to the arena. She was surprised to see it empty- well, almos empty
She bears grunts and noise coming from the ring room. She walks closer to the voices, entering the space to reveal shirtless Tazmın and Rygan, who were in a grappling match.
Their laser focus on each other caused goosebumps on her skin, as it was intriguing for Elise to witness. She couldn’t help but watch every muscle react with each attack from both men, her wolf a bit pleased by the sight of bare chests, until she beard a whisper
“It looks like you’re enjoying that view a bit too much. A low voice echoed in her ears, and she almost jumped as she turned around to meet Kaide’s gaze.
She recalled that they hadn’t fully talked alone since that night, especially since her whole apology was flushed down the drain the minute Kyren was brought up. “I was just… she stuttered out Kaide’s amused face was priceless, as he was trying hard not to laugh.
Moons, Kaide,” she mutters, lightly hitting him on the shoulder as she leans over the wall and covers her petite frame till herausion is closed off from the ring and to him
She could see his gaze soften with amusement, but there was something she couldn’t grasp from those dark almond eyes that had always been a mystery to her.
But she knew what she wanted to say. “Hey, I’m sorry about what happened that night; I didn’t mean to do that to you… To call that name, I don’t know what came over me,” she apologizes, embarrassed by recalling the situation.
“I told you it was alright: I get you’re still trying to forget and get over that phase in your life”
“I am over it,” she argues curtly.
“I don’t quite believe you,” he says, and Elise immediately looks worried that he’s still affected by it. “But I might, if you promise me another date when this is all over.”
Her face brightened in relief in an instant, but their small conversation was immediately interrupted by Taz, who cleared his throat very loudly and awkwardly, worsening the situation.
They both look to the fighting ring. Elise’s gaze He instantly meets Rygan’s gaze, sending those butterflies to her stomach. He doesn’t take his eyes away from hers until she does. “Look, we’ll both leave so you can spar with Rygan, Taz mentions to Kaide
From how tense their relationship was, they still hadn’t talked since that night, more like Rygan was holding onto how much self–control he had not to attack Kaide for betraying him.
“Are you ready to start your training?” Rygan asks Elsie, who nods. “Then let’s start, shall we, darling?” He called casually, and Elise froze from how tenderly he called her darling before reaching out a hand for her to climb up.
Elise controlled her heart so as not to skip a beat. As he pulled her up the ring, she couldn’t control her movement and ended up so close to him that they were less than a foot apart. She swallowed before she replied.
“Yeah, let’s do this.”
She only hoped her body wouldn’t give out before her heart wond,
