Chapter 36
Chapter 36
Mikayla stood before the big floor–to–ceiling window, watching the busy traffic below.
Even though she had delegated tasks properly, the most important thing was finding a suitable manufacturer within two weeks. Salvatore Group had its own long–time manufacturers. A discussion with Maxius revealed the manufacturers‘ equipment could no longer meet their latest needs. It was most likely the reason for their previous failed breakthrough attempts.
She asked the manufacturer’s person in charge, and they agreed to bring in the needed equipment, but only if Salvatore Group paid 17 million dollars in advance for it.
They were still in the trial–and–error phase. Investing so much in materials from the start could be risky–if the attempt failed, they’d be left with useless inventory. The company wouldn’t fund it without some results, and she couldn’t afford the risk.
Plus, Salvatore Group had a ten–year contract with this manufacturer. Breaking it to work with someone else would mean huge penalties, which wasn’t worth the trouble. The board would be furious if they found out.
The manufacturer’s contact listed two names, but it was actually one person. She had sent someone to investigate. The contact would pocket a small profit through underhanded means but was smart enough not to go overboard. He was playing a dangerous game. He was meticulous, had a good wife, and stayed away from other women. His personality made him a good business partner, but it also meant he was tough to influence. She couldn’t find a weakness to leverage, making him hard to deal with.
Mikayla plopped back in her leather chair, tapping her fingers on the documents on her desk, feeling utterly stuck.
At that moment, there was a knock on the door. Quinnlyn walked in with a beautiful bouquet of champagne roses and a sealed file. “Ms. Salvatore, this is from Mr. Caldwell. He said you’d know what to do with it”
Mikayla reached for the file and nodded. Opening the file, she looked at the contents and the intriguing photos. Her frown immediately smoothed out. Carlos really knows what I need, she thought.
She picked up her phone to call him, but before she could, he called her.
“Did you get it His voice was magnetic
“Yeah, I just got it!” Mikayla smiled inadvertently. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
Quinnlyn, arranging the flowers, was taken aback. Mikayla rarely smiled, but when she did, it was captivating. She looks so elegant even in the company uniform,’ Quinnlyn thought
“Is it what you wanted?” He asked.
“How do you always know it?” she inquired.
“Because our hearts are in sync,” he said.
Mikayla bit her lip, catching the waft of fragrance in the room. She hesitated, not sure how to respond.
“Deal with your work first. I have a call coming in. I’ll pick you up later he said.
The night before, Carlos‘ sister didn’t show up. Selena had invited Mikayla to their house, saying Carlos sister wanted to meet her but was too weak to go out. Mikayla had agreed.
“Oka. After hanging up. Mikayla felt a sudden emptiness. But soon, she set her feelings aside, noticing Quinnlyn was still there. She put away the things on her desk. “We’re heading out. Call Patricia.”
At the Municipal Government, Juliet opened the door of Brantley’s office and saw Brantley reviewing documents.
He was frowning and looked serious. The light from the window gave him a kind of halo. It reminded Juliet of the first time she saw him in school and was immediately drawn to him.
Smelling a familiar scent in the air, Bramley looked up. His eyes were indifferent, making it hard to read his thoughts. “What are you doing here! Didn’t last time…
Before he could finish, Juliet opened the lunch box she had prepared and handed it to him, cutting him off. “I figured you’ve been busy and might have forgotten to eat, so I brought you some food”
Brantley glanced at the delicate dishes in the lunch box with slight displeasure.

Juliet noticed and quickly added, “Remember to eat. I have an appointment with Mikayla, so I’ve got to run!”
