Chapter 332
Chapter 332
Naomi was telling the truth; Wendy was friendly, easygoing, and a caring woman, unlike Scott's mother.
Even though she and Scott had been married for three years, Naomi had always felt like an outsider to his family, especially his mother, but Charles' mother was different. Even though they had only met for a few hours, Wendy had gone around and introduced her to every member of their family. That made Naomi feel extremely loved and treasured.
She could easily sense when someone liked her or when they did not, and it was clear that Wendy liked and, most importantly, respected her.
Charles froze.
He stared at Naomi for a moment, reading her facial expression. It was full of gratitude and sincerity, without a single hint of hurt.
Was she telling the truth? She was not upset about his mother's comment at all?
Charles wanted to ask her more, but the more he stared at her, the smaller his doubts shrank. He finally smiled and relaxed. "Thank you for understanding. I was worried my mother had scared you off. She's a rather outspoken person and I was worried she'd come off too strong."
Naomi chuckled. "No, it's fine. In fact, I love how outspoken she is. She's such a cheerful person. Don't worry, Charles, I'm okay."
She even smiled at him again as she thought to reaffirm to him that she meant it.
Charles stared at her for a moment, then burst into heart felt laughter. The tense atmosphere immediately dissipated. "That's good."
The two of them made their way to Amelia's room.
Meanwhile, Amelia was sitting up in bed, tapping on her laptop as she tried to catch up with her work. She had missed out on a lot of work due to her sudden hospitalization and needed to catch up.
Sabina did not dare to disturb her while she was focused on her work. Instead, she sat patiently next to Amelia and only left when Amelia instructed her to do something.
The entire room was silent, with the only sound being Amelia's fingernails tapping at rapid-fire speed on the keyboard.Text © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
All of a sudden, the sound of a muffled ringtone echoed through the room. Amelia froze, then frowned." Whose phone is ringing?"
Sabina suddenly recalled that she had placed Amelia's bag inside the closet and covered it with a layer of clothing. She had forgotten all about it because Amelia's phone had not rung even once until now.
Sabina immediately leaped to her feet. "It's your phone, Ms. Reed. I put it inside the closet."
With that, she opened the closet door, fished out the buzzing phone, and handed it to Amelia.
Amelia furrowed her brows. The image of Sean's rather annoying-looking face appeared in her mind.
However, a split second later, she shook her head. No, it could not be him.
Sean was probably on the plane at that moment, so he could not possibly be phoning her. It was probably someone else.
Amelia took the phone from Sabina.
