One Night With My Alpha Professor

Chapter 53

"That was a nasty spill."

I looked up, my heart pounding in my chest, to find myself cradled in Edwin's strong arms. His stormy gray eyes met mine, and I felt my face flush hot with embarrassment-both from my clumsy fall and the sensation of his hard chest pressed against my side. "You're okay though, right?" he asked, his brow furrowed with concern.

I nodded, suddenly very aware of how close we were. "Y-yeah, I'm fine. Thanks for catching me."

Edwin carefully set me down. His hands lingered on my waist for a moment to make sure I was steady, his warm fingers feg like hot flames through the thin fabric of my sweater. I swallowed, looking away nervously. "How did you...?"

He shrugged and smoothed down the front of his shirt as he straightened. "I heard a commotion and came running. Good thing I did, too."

"Yeah... Good thing," I agreed, still a bit dazed. How had he managed to catch me in time? It was impressive, to say the least.

Edwin bent down and picked up one of the fallen posters, his eyes scanning over the text. "Male modeeded for fashion show?" he read aloud, raising an eyebrow at me. "You don't have models yet?" Isighed, running a hand through my hair. "Yeah, my team and I are in a bit of a bind. Our models-twins, who both gotNôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.

strep throat at the same time-canceled on us at the last minute, and now we're scrambling to find replacements before the show."

"I see," Edwin said, his expression thoughtful. His gaze lingered on the poster for a moment longer before he lifted his eyes to meet mine. "And why didn't you ask me to model for you?"

I blinked at him, wondering for a moment if I had misheard. "You? But... the fashion show is hosted by your company year. Wouldn't that be a conflict of interest or something?".

Edwin shrugged, a hint of a smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "I could wear a mask. No one would know it was me. Besides, I'm not one of the judges, so it doesn't really matter all that much."

I stared at him incredulously for a moment, trying to gauge if he was serious. "You're joking, right? You actually want to model for us?"

"Why not?" he replied, crossing his arms. "Unless you don't think I'm up to the task?"

There was a challenge in his voice that made my back straighten. "Alright then," I said, gathering up the fallen posters. "If you're serious, come back to the studio with me. You can prove your modg skills there." Edwin paused for a moment before nodding. "Lead the way," he said with a wave of his hand."

As we walked back to the studio together, I couldn't help but sneak glances at him, trying to picture him on a runway. He certainly had the height and build for it, but could he pull off the attitude?

I wasn't so sure. But I supposed we would find out soon.

When we reached the studio, I flicked on the lights and headed straight for the rack of men's outfits. "Here," I said, pulling out a tailored suit. "Try this on."

Edwin took the suit without hesitation and disappeared behind a privacy screen. While he changed, I set up my phone to play some music, creating a makeshift runway atmosphere.

BOR.

When Edwin stepped out from behind the screen, my jaw nearly hit the floor. The suit fit him perfectly, accentuating his broad shoulders and tall frame. He looked like he had just stepped out of a high-fashion magazine. And it was all I could do to quell the redness in my face.

"Well?" he asked, as he adjusted his cuffs. "How do I look?"

I swallowed hard, trying to find my voice. "You look... really good," I finally managed to say after a beat of awkward silence. "But looking good is only part of it. Can you walk?"

Edwin raised an eyebrow at me. "I think I can manage putting one foot in front of the other, Audrey."

I rolled my eyes, fighting back a smile. "You know what I mean. Show me your catwalk."

I hit play on my phone, and the sound of music filled the studio. Edwin took a deep breath, then started walking. I watched, stunned, as he moved with a grace and confidence I hadn't expected from the stiff Alpha. His strides were long and purposeful, his expression intense and focused.

As he walked to the music, I couldn't help but notice how... da***

He stopped just inches away from me, and suddenly the air between us felt charged with c**ng electricity. I caught my breath and looked up at him, suddenly acutely aware of how close we were standing.

For a moment, neither of us spoke, and I could practically feel the heat radiating off of his taut body in waves.

Finally, I cleared my throat. "That was... really good," I said, my voice coming out a bit breathier than I intended. "I think you might have just saved our show."

Edwin's lips curved into a small, albeit uncharacteristic, smile. "Does that mean you want me to be

I nodded, still a bit dazed. "If you're really willing to do it, then yes. Please be our male model."

"I could do it," Edwin said with a curt nod.

your male model?"

My eyes widened slightly as I watched him turn on his heel and disappear behind the privacy screen to change back into his regular clothes. "Just like that?" I breathed. "I could pay you..."

I heard Edwin scoff from behind the screen. A moment later, I saw his suit jacket toss over the the unmistakable form of his shirtless silhouette showing through the thin plastic.

"Why are you always trying to pay me back for things?" he asked, utterly unaware of the heated look I was giving him through the screen.

I shrugged and turned away, even though he couldn't see me. "You just keep doing so many nice things for me. Paying for dinner, buying me a new phone and a tablet, and now this..." Edwin was silent for a moment, save for the sound of fabric rustling as he changed. "Maybe I just want to do something nice for my devoted teaching assistant," he finally said.

My mouth opened, then closed again of its own accord. Nice... Was that really all it was?

Before I could dwell on the thought for too long, Edwin emerged from behind the screen in his regular clothes once more, his tweed jacket slung over his shoulder..

"Well, um... Thank you," I said, shooting him a grateful look. "I appreciate it."

He nodded. "The show is in two days. I'll be showing up in a mask, so just... don't tell anyone that it's me," he said.

I nodded stiffly. "Of course. Goodnight, Edwin."

"Night."

I walked him to the door, still in a bit of a daze. As I watched him leave, I knew that I couldn't let him do this without some kind of thank-you; and if he wouldn't accept payment, then it had to be something else. Something special. Something to show him how much I appreciated everything that he did for me.

Suddenly, an idea struck me. I knew what to do.
