Chapter 17

"Well, you're right, but I do entertam feelings and manners. As a CEO, you should know those are the traits of a successful

leader"

Kage went a step closer. Do you think you're in any position to lecture me. Mr. Harper? That'd be a grave thing to do

Westley met his gaze unflinching. Now, Sylvie didn't like the look of things. If she didn't intervene, she might see things she didn't want to.

"Okay, okay, that's enough" She got slightly in the middle. Then, with pleading eyes, she turned to Kage

"Please, I know you're not happy about this, but let it go. I'm begging. Kage. I'm hungry, and I need to eat. This is lunch time, and it's not fair that you interfere with it."

ry over the fact

She knew when Kage was very angry and that moment, he was. But she couldn't really understand if he was angry over that she was going out for lunch, or Westley was taking her.

His chilly gaze lingered on Westley for a moment before he retreated.

"Lunch time ends by two, he uttered before going to his car

Sylvie let out a deep relieving breath.

**********

It was the next day.

Sylvie had a lot of work on her desk, but the dizziness was overwhelming, she couldn't resist taking her nap.

She was deep asleep with her head on her desk when someone tapped her.

Jerking up, she found a bitch before her, a bitch she'd been hoping not to see.

Lana crossed her arms, giving her a puzzled look as she tried to shake off the dizziness from her head.

"Seriously? Sleeping during work hours? Are you for real? Is Kage even aware of this?" She asked with a crumpled look

Straightening her hair, Sylvie looked at her. "What is it. Lana? You don't work here, so there's no way you're in my office to pass me an information. And you'll never be my friend, so there's no way you're paying me a visit. Why are you here?" Lana laughed to that

"You're right. Sylvie. I can never be friends with a lady who manipulated an old man into making her marry his son."

The marriage is over already, get over it. Or are you having issues with having Kage to fall in love with you! You've realized afterall, that I wasn't the one getting in the way?"

A frown flickered across Lana's face before she concealed it with a smile.

"We're getting married. Next month, her eyes beamed.

Sylvie swallowed hard. She's heard the rumours.

"Well, good luck with that. You'll finally get to know what I went through being married to him. Only difference is, yours will be for a lifetime," she started typing on ner keyboard.

"What're you talking about? Kage loves me. I'm the only one he's willingly getting married to. The word there is willingly. Sylvie sighed. "I'm not disputing

the fact that he might love you, Lana. But when a man who isnt gentle loves you, there's no way he could show that love to you. Kage was wired to be cold and unfeeling. Haven't you noticed!" She rolled her eyes. Lana cleared the lump in her throat. She concealed her annoyance with a chuckle.

"Keep dreaming, Sylvie You probably think he can't love because he's never showed it to you. Why don't you wait and see how

perfectly ours is gonna be?"

Sylvie forced a smile. "Well, unfortunately, I have no plans of waiting around. Take care of you, Lana."

She returned her attention to the system. But Lana wasn't done.

She went closer to her.

"I hate the fact that you're working here. Who knows? You might find someone else to manipulate, Just hurry up with whatever shit you have to do and get out of here, she lashed, then walked away. Sylvie rolled her eyes. And there she goes, acting like Sylvie's words weren't true and didn't get to her.

Some minutes later and Sylvie's phone beeped beside her. I'd was a text from Westley.

'Ready for lunch? I'm on my way to get you already!

Ugh, she loved lunch time. She loved food.

She had a wide smile on her face as she texted back 'always ready!

It was time for the party. Sylvie gave herself one last lingering look before the mirror.

Her dress was a long red flowing gown which Westley had gotten for her. It had a slit from her thigh to her feet and also glittered. It was magnificent.

Sylvie had called a friend over to help her with her hair and makeup, and well, Cyndi had done an awesome job.

Routinely, her hand went to her belly. She could tell the baby bump was trying to push out already. Soon, she wouldn't be able to wear body-fitting dresses anymore.

"You're quite lucky, aren't you?" Cindy asked as she fixed her tools on the table while Sylvie continued staring at her reflection in the mirror.

"You were lucky enough to be married to one of the richest men in the world, and even after the divorce, it didn't take you long to meet Westley Harper - one of the biggest names in the business world. Seriously, how do you do it?"

Sylvie chuckled, looking away from the mirror.

"Trust me, Cindy, I've not been as lucky as you think. Besides, Westley and I are just friends."

"Oh, spare me," Cindy rolled her eyes. "He got you this dress, Sylvie, and he's taking you to the One Trillion Party. That's like a lifetime opportunity. Despite how rich my dad is, he hasn't been able to get into that group, and neither has he been able to attend the party. You Sylvie shook her head but kept her words to herself. No one would ever understand how unlucky she's been.

She got a text from Westley, notifying her he was outside.

"I need to go now, she grabbed her purse.

"Okay, sure. I'll just clear this up and leave once I'm done."

"Okay! Thanks, Cindy!" She hurried off.

Westley was outside his black Rolls-Royce Sweptail, looking dashing in a black suit with his hand tucked into a pocket. There was a C-wagon in front of him with three men in suits standing outside.

He seemed to hold his breath when he laid eyes on Sylvie. Then, a smile spread across his face as she got

closer.

"Well, well, well, Sylvie Price will never seize to amaze me, will she?" He sucked in a deep breath, pushing away from the car

where he leaned.

A blush crept onto Sylvie's cheeks. I apologize for my effortless charms, Westley Harper."

He held out his hand, and with a slight hesitation. Sylvie placed hers in it. He took it to his lips and planted a kiss.

"Thank you for doing me the honors," he cooed.

He opened the backdoor for her and waited for her to get in before going around.

One of the men in suits had already opened his for him.

The party was taking place in the most expensive hall in the city. From the street leading to the hall, armed forces were all

over.

They inspected every car that drove by, checking their valid member ID.

Sylvie had never been to a party more organized. More luxurious. There were cameramen all over the place, taking numerous pictures of people on the red carpet.

If Sylvie wasn't sure she looked good, she'd have been intimated by how extremely gorgeous the women at the Westley came out of the car before her. As soon as he did, the press men turned to him, their lights flashing endlessly.

party looked.

He went over to Sylvie's door, opened it and held out his hand for her. Gracefully, she took it and stepped out of the car. The lights from the cameras were blinding. Sylvie kept smiling as Westley led her to the red carpet. Geez, She's never been a lover of attention.

She and Westley hadn't even gotten to the red carpet when he started exchanging pleasantries. Sylvie had to keep smiling. Soon, the attention shified from them. Sylvie turned for a look and found a convoy of exquisite cars driving in.

The first one was a Bentley Bentayga, the second was a Lamborghini Urus, the third one was a Maserati, and the fourth one was a Bentley Mulliner Bacalar.

Sylvie released the breath she'd been holding as the four cars came to a stop. She didn't need a soothsayer to predict who was in the car Could only be one person.NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
