Chapter 2189
Chapter 2189
Ian knew that Gary would grow restless and bother Cindy for no reason. I knew it! Gary! Now is the right time I show myself in front of everyone! He couldn't show their marriage certificate yet, so he could only make his presence known.
Ian said, "Don't worry about that. Just play along when the time comes."
Cindy couldn't do anything about him, so she just agreed in the end. "Don't overdo it. Everyone is working earnestly in the company; it's very different from the entertainment field."
Ian expressed understanding; then, the two chatted about their daily lives for a bit before hanging up. After ending the call, Cindy felt a little better inside. The random topics they talked about had taken away much of the shock she had felt from the news earlier.
She put down her phone and lay on the bed, crossing her hands on her stomach as she looked up at the ceiling. She couldn't help but recall the members of the Morgan Family she had met. To be honest, she hadn't met them very often, merely able to recall their faces. However, with the news about the tragedy, she felt stuffy in her chest.
In the end, Cindy slowly closed her eyes. This world is too complicated; it's riddled with so many grudges and whatnot, as if tragedies and natural disasters aren't already bad enough.
Cindy fell asleep sometime later, but she didn't sleep soundly. She kept having muddled dreams, and many people showed up in the dreams. She couldn't see some of their faces, and she couldn't recognize the faces she could see.
The entire dream was messy and unexplainable, and when she woke up the next day, she felt her head
spinning. Aurora had already arrived and was preparing breakfast. As usual, Cindy washed up and got ready, and when she walked out, Aurora was bringing breakfast out from the kitchen.
Aurora looked like she had a good night's rest. "Morning. Food is ready."
Cindy walked over and sat opposite Aurora, then raised her hand to rub her forehead. "I didn't sleep well last night, and now my head is hurting."
Aurora looked up at her, then said helplessly, "I thought I wouldn't be able to sleep well last night, but it turned out to be the best sleep I've had in a while." With that, Aurora smiled. "To be honest, I felt quite bad yesterday, and I thought I would definitely dream of something at night. Turns out, I overestimated myself. I've never had a better sleep in my life."
Cindy chuckled at Aurora's words, then took a deep breath and began to eat. It was almost time to go after their meal, and Aurora had errands to run, so the two got ready and went out together. Cindy then habitually hailed a cab to work.
The cab she was in had just arrived at the entrance to her company when a car drove over and pulled up in the parking space.
Cindy opened the car door and went out. The car also had its door opened, and the person who got out was none other than Lucy.
When Lucy saw Cindy, she was stunned for a bit, then smiled. "What a coincidence."
Cindy nodded at Lucy, then greeted her. "Miss Harrison."
She didn't know what was going on with their fates and why she kept bumping into Lucy. She didn't even encounter Serena as often as she did Lucy.
Cindy started walking toward the company, and Lucy hastily went after her as well. Lucy didn't say anything as she followed Cindy to the elevators. Some people were already waiting at the elevators, and of course, they were all waiting for the staff elevator.
Cindy walked over there as well, but Lucy reached out and grabbed her arm. "Why are you going there? Come, take this one." NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Cindy said it was fine, but Lucy maintained her hold on Cindy's arm. "Don't be shy, come with me. It won't delay you."
With so many people watching, Cindy didn't want to engage in a tug-of-war, so she followed Lucy into the designated elevator.
