Chapter 127_ No way!! 3
Abby stared at her reflection in the mirror for a while, she was putting on a red clinging gown that barely reached her thigh.Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
She applied her read lipsticks and smacked her lips together. She was confident that no family would accept such a badly dressed daughter in-law like her.
She picked her black purse from her bed and hurried out making soft clicks on the marbled floor with her black heels.
Martha stood up when she heard the clicks approaching, immediately Abby stepped into her view, she felt the air around her seize.
“Abby…. are you going all dressed up like that?!” Martha exclaimed.
Abby rolled her eyes and started walking away, “If you ruin my mood I will cancel this lunch date” Abby said sternly and left the room..
..
Martha blew hair on her forehead, Abby hadn’t come in yet, she smiled sheepishly at the Johnson’s. “has she decided to run away?” she mumbled beneath her breathe.
“So miss Grayson… where is your daughter?” Mr Johnson asked adjusting his glasses.
Martha flashed a weird toothy smile, how was she supposed to answer that when she doesn’t know where her daughter ran off to.
“She will be here any minute” Martha assured but deep down she was sure Abby ditched her.
“I’m here”
Martha and the Johnson’s turned towards her direction.
Martha sighed in relief, she sprang up to her feet and pulled Abby towards the dining table.
“I’m gonna scold you so bad when we get back home!” Martha whispered to Abby in a lowered tone.
“So this is my lovely daughter Abby…. Abby meet the Johnson’s”
Abby smiled and waved at them.”Hello Mr and Mrs Johnson and ….
The girl around her age smiled at her “Oh it’s savanna”
Abby smiled at the girl once more, something about her smile made her remember someone.
“Mr Johnson I don’t see your son around” Martha reminded and almost immediately she heard a screeching sound outside.
“That’s him” Mrs Johnson said with a sigh, she was sure that their son would like this lady.
Abby cleared her throat “So Mr and Mrs Johnson I’m sure you don’t like ladies wearing skimpy clothes or ladies who throw their lives away because I’m definitely that lady” Abby said nonchalantly.
Martha’s smile froze on her face, she pinched Abby’s arm, this daughter of her’s was trying to embarrass her in front of them.
Savanna laughed out “Oh dear, that’s exactly the kind of girl my brother likes”
“Yeah… we don’t have a problem with your dressing, infact we can’t wait for you to be our new daughter in-law” Mrs Johnson blurted out which her husband agreed to.
Abby’s face fell, what a weird family this was, why would anyone want her as their son’s wife after seeing her mode of dressing?
Martha laughed out finally this was working out, she knew how upset Abby must be feeling right now.
A hurried footstep approached the dining table “Young master he is…..” The butler swallowed his words after he was glared at.
“Oh here he is…. meet our son” Mrs Johnson pointed out.
Abby sulked, she was still upset about this whole fixed date or whatever it was.
Mrs Johnson pulled him to sit next to her and opposite Abby. He glanced briefly at the lady who was mumbling to herself. “Hmm.. not bad… but mum you know I don’t want to get married now” he whispered to his mum.
Martha cleared her throat to gain back Abby’s attention.
“Dear this is the lady we’ve picked for you” Mrs Johnson spoke up which gained Abby’s attention.
She raised her head and at the same time he stole a glance at her.
“You?!”
They both rose up to their feet in shock, surprise and anger.
James blinked his eyes to see if he was seeing things or if it was just an illusion.
Everyone sitted also rose up to their feet, “So you both already knew each other? then why are we still delaying let’s fix the date of the engagement!” Mr Johnson exclaimed in excitement, finally his good for nothing son would become responsible for once in his life.
“No way!!” They both exclaimed.
“What is going on?” Martha asked to no one in particular.
Abby picked up her purse “You could have done better mum… I’m not interested in this alliance” Abby bursted.
James frowned “What do you mean by that? I should be the one to say that!” he turned towards his mum.
“Mum I know that you and dad are trying to make me a responsible person.. but this is outrageous I can’t put up with this mad lady!”
Abby gasped and climbed on the dining table to get to him. Martha’s eyes widened in embarrassment, she caught hold of Abby’s wrist and pulled her back down.
“Mum did you see that?” James pointed out hiding behind his mum.
Few minutes later, they gathered in the living room, everywhere was oddly quiet, after a little more silence Mr Johnson broke it.
“Can anyone of you tell me what happened between you two? how about this? let’s hear from you first Abby ”
Abby shrugged “I don’t want to talk about it”
James arched a brow “I will speak first dad, we met at her grandfather’s birthday party where she spilled a drink on my suit, that suit costs millions! and she was too big to apologize”
Abby stood up “Is that all?” she glared at him, if her anger surge in there will be lots of problem.
“Do you have any more to contribute?” James asked back.
Abby rolled her eyes and returned back to her seat.
Mr Johnson leaned forward to his wife, they whispered among themselves for sometime before they turned to the others.
“Miss Grayson… our children had a conflict in the past, by we believe the past is the past so that’s why we are going to sought out their differences by getting them engaged as soon as possible” Mrs Johnson announced with a smile.
“What?” James and Abby barked out, they sprang up to their feet.
James narrowed his eyes at her “Don’t think I’m dying to get married to you”
“Can’t you see how elated I am about it?” Abby asked in sarcasm.
Martha smiled and pulled Abby back down to sit, she was now relieved, her daughter will get married soon and that too to a nice and wealthy family.
“I can’t wait to have you as my sister in-law” savannah blurted out only to receive a cold glare from her brother.
Abby got up from her seat in anger and stomped out, James also excused himself and followed her out.
James glanced around for a while before he pulled her into a room.
“Let me…..”
James placed his finger on her lips and pinned her to the wall.
“Is this your way of getting back at me for what I did?” James questioned.
Abby pushed him away from her, and pushed her hair backwards.
“If I had known that this alliance was from you… I would have gladly stayed back at my house!” She retorted.
James ran his hands through his hair, he wasn’t ready for marriage or anything that evolves around it.
“What do you mean from me?”
Abby smacked her purse against his chest “Your parents were the ones who brought the proposal, I did everything I could to stop this madness, I even went as far as wearing this skimpy dress!”
“But who knew that they like girls who dress up like this?!” she continued.
James paced around the room, there must be something wrong somewhere this can’t happen to him.
“This was bound to happen james! nemesis has caught up with you! all you have to do now is to face it” Abby scorned, she couldn’t deny that a part of her heart was happy about this.
He turned towards her “Don’t you understand? I’m not ready for any of this!”
Abby grabbed his arm and squeezed it roughly “You are not ready? when do you plan on taking responsibility for what happened between us that night, huh? I didn’t want to say anything out there but now that we are here I need you to answer that!”
James scowled at her and pulled her hands off his hands.”I told you that night was a mistake! stop reminding me of that!”
Abby slapt him hard across his face, she grabbed his shirt. “is that what you tell every lady you sleep around with?… well I’m different from them! do you get that?”
She yelled at him and released her grip on his shirt, she opened the door to reveal her mum and the Johnson’s they all had a shocked look on their faces.
Abby really didn’t care if they heard everything, she walked hurriedly out of their sights.
“Abby!” James called out but she was long gone, he kicked the large vase in anger and slumped on the large bed present in the room.
