Chapter 122 First Time Father
Blood spread along the hem of Lexie’s skirt, and a stabbing pain struck the small of her back.
Lexie covered the small of her back, her face pale.
[Child, my child].
Alan pushed Jack away and picked her up, “What are you waiting for? Drive, go to the hospital!”
Jack just woke up to this.
The car sped through the streets of J City, running several red lights in a row.
Emergency department ward.
Kevin came out of the hospital room.
“How is she doing?”
Kevin made sure the door to the room was closed tightly before he sank down and stopped Alan who was going in.
“Did you care about her?”
“Don’t tell me that, how is she really doing?”
“She’s pregnant!” Kevin plucked up his voice, his low voice echoing down the hallway, startling several of the medical staff into giving them a misty-eyed look.
How could Dr. Stewart, who is always so nice, get so angry?
Alan’s mind buzzed for a moment, “What did you say?”
“I said, she’s pregnant, it’s been over two months,” Kevin sulked, “I wanted to tell you the other day, but you were so busy taking care of Lydia every day and didn’t care about Lexie, I didn’t think it made any difference at all whether I told you or not. ”
Alan was still frozen, as if he hadn’t heard Kevin, staring blankly in the direction of the ward door.
Lexie is pregnant?
He’s going to be a father?
“Alan!”
Thinking about Lexie’s current situation, Alan snapped back, “How is she now?”
“You just remembered to ask? What were you doing early?”
“How is she really doing?”
“Nothing is wrong for now, and the baby is fine, but the fetal image is unstable, and the first three months are the most important time to pay attention.”
Alan was relieved to hear this.
In the ward, Lexie was leaning against the bed, she had woken up and was looking out the window of the ward.
The sound of the door opening came from behind her, and she could tell from the footsteps that it was Alan, and her back stiffened.
“Still uncomfortable?”
“I know you’re awake.”
After a long moment of silence, Lexie turned around.
What have you done with Grandpa David?
At the mention of Grandpa David, Alan’s face sank slightly, “This has nothing to do with you.”
[Grandpa David’s old, take it as I beg you, let him go, any dissatisfaction you have with me, any dissatisfaction you have with the Mitchell family, just come at me, don’t hurt innocent people!
[Isn’t it enough to have Myles in front of you?
Lexie almost collapsed, her eyes filled with blood, as if they were going to burst out in the next second, staring at Alan with a deadly stare.
“Do people get to escape punishment just because they’re older? He’s a human trafficker!”
Hearing these words, the despair in Lexie’s heart increased.
Looking at Alan, she actually let out a laugh.
You can’t even come up with a decent reason why Grandpa David is a human trafficker? Then why didn’t you turn him over to the police?
Alan was impatient, “Think what you want, I have to catch this man!”
When he thought of what happened twenty years ago, he hated to cut that group of people into a thousand pieces.
Peter and the group of traffickers who trafficked him are the culprits, and none of them are going to get away.
Police?
More than twenty years have passed, even if the police can find evidence, but also long past the retroactive years, the culprit is still to go free?
As we were talking, Alan received a phone call, looked at Lexie, held the phone and went out.
With a ‘bang’, the door of the room closed and the room fell into silence.
Lexie clutched the sheets beneath her, her face ashen.
“Hello?”
“Mr. Howard,” Jack’s voice came over the phone, “I got it. The man is a recent arrival in J City.
“Old acquaintances?”
Alan frowned.
When I think of the forest in Laoshan that was burned by Peter, it seems that the forest was bought and developed by the Mitchell Group, and the people who lived there knew Lexie’s grandmother, so maybe it’s normal.
“What else did it say?”
“There is nothing else, he bit the bullet and did not admit to human trafficking, the police files have long been destroyed, and can not find anything to.”
Jack’s tone was a bit difficult, “Mr. Howard, it’s been twenty years, could you be mistaken for someone else?”
“Impossible!” Alan’s tone was cold and penetrated with a bitter chill.
He will never forget that summer twenty years ago, the heat was killing him, and the old man with the hateful face who locked himself in the cellar, uncovered a corner of the cellar and warned himself viciously from above that he would starve himself to death in the cellar if he didn’t obey.
The cellar is dark and damp, you can’t see anything, you can only smell the smell of sour pickles.
If Linda hadn’t saved him at that time, he would have been dead.
“Mr. Howard, so what happens to people now?”
“Hold it until he gives an account of all his crimes, and then … send it to the police station.”
Alan’s tone was halting.
If he didn’t care about Lexie and the baby in her belly, he would have had to take care of the old man himself.
The following day, Lexie rested in the hospital room.
Kevin explained that she must be bedridden for a few days, otherwise it would be difficult to keep the baby.
“Duk Duk Duk”Contentt bel0ngs to N0ve/lDrâ/ma.O(r)g!
She looked up from behind her book and saw Lydia peeking in through the doorway, crutches in her hand.
Lexie immediately straightened up.
“Don’t you move, I’ll just walk there myself.”
Lydia was busy waving her hand and walking towards the hospital bed on her crutches, struggling a bit.
“Are you okay?”
[I’m fine, why are you here?
“I just heard that you were here, afraid that you are bored alone, I came over to chat with you for a while.”
Lexie was slightly stunned.
Lydia pursed her lips and reluctantly admitted, “Well, I was too bored myself, so I came to find you, okay?”
“I asked the doctor, and Dr. Stewart told me that you were pregnant.”
[Hmm.]
“That’s a good thing, Alan is old enough to have a child.”
There was actually some happiness in Lydia’s eyes.
Lexie wondered, [Don’t you like Alan’s?
If you like someone, how can you be so generous as to tolerate him having a child with another woman?
“Yes,” Lydia shrugged a little, justified, “it does not affect me to continue to stay by his side, I think even if he has ten or eight children, will not be more important than me, just like you stay by his side, I do not feel any influence ah. ”
Lexie pulled the corner of her mouth, [You don’t have to worry about that, I have no intention of having this child.
“Huh?” Lydia looked at the phone screen, stunned, “Why not, it’s your and Alan’s first child!”
Lexie had a bitterness in her throat, not knowing how to explain to Lydia, and not feeling the need to explain.
Neither of them noticed that there was a figure standing in the doorway the whole time.
After hearing Lydia’s rhetorical question, he clenched his fist fiercely, his face grim.
