Chapter 51: Daciana
Chapter 51: Daciana
Yes my child." Came an answer.
My bestfriend opened the door to the room and I stepped after her and closed the door behind me.
"What have I done to receive a visit from the beautiful Spencer?" Daciana asked which made Spencer
laugh. I was busy looking around the room, soaking up the presence that lingered in every dark corner.
It isn't everyday you get to meet a real life witch. Although I kind of expected her to live in a cottage,
and look old and wrinkled. Elder Daciana didn't even look nearly as old as the witches in the fairytales.
She wore a knee length floral printed dress and her snow white hair was done up in a perfectly neat
bun. In her hand was a small piece of material and In front her was a medium sized sewing kit so I
assumed she was working on the costumes Annalise told us about.
The room was only slightly dark, and has potentially visual aesthetic that emerged in the late 2000s or
early 2010s. Curtains blocked out sunlight and endless boxes packed up the limited space of the room.
"I wanted to introduce you to my friend, Emerald." Spencer said and I jumped out of my thoughts. We
sat down on a loveseat in Daciana's room and she sat a few centimeters away from us.
"Emerald." Daciana said my name as if she was testing it out on her tongue and in her brain. The fact
scared me. What if she didn't like me? Would she turn me into a frog?
"I know your parents from the Midnight pack, very good people. Tell me, how's your mother?"
"She's doing fine actually, and so is my dad." I answer.
"Ah. Spencer, would you mind leaving the room for a bit?" Daciana asked, which made my stomach
turn. Spencer nodded and left the room after stealing a quick glance at me. I heard the door shut and it
felt like someone stabbed me in my stomach.
"Come closer child." Daciana ordered. I obliged and got up to occupy a seat that was directly infront of
her. My heart pounded in my ears and it felt like it was trying to escape my rib cage.
"Are you afraid, Emerald?" The elderly woman asked.
"It's almost as if you can read minds, I'm shaking." I tell her.
Daciana chuckled. "You're just like your mother, Emerald. Brutally honest and always straight forward.
Know what you want."
"Do I though? I don't know, I'm just so confused about everything." I confided in her. Telling people my
fears and hopes and desires have always been something I have trouble doing. I just don't like giving
people the ammunition they'll need if they decide to hurt me or make me an enemy. Ammunition like
myself. After all, our strongest enemy is ourselves.
"What are you confused about, Emerald?" Without waiting for me to answer, Elder Daciana takes my
hands in hers and closes her eyes. I follow suit and close my eyes as well. Before I know it I'm thrown
in a dark room with glowing light swirling around like a whirlpool.
Spencer's face pops up, my parents, Carter. Even Liam and Annabelle. They are all staring at me with
disgust in their eyes and my heart feels as if it's being slowly crushed.
"Spencer! What's happening?" I yell out. Spencer gives me a dirty look but doesn't answer. Suddenly
the faces appear and are replaced with new ones. Vanessa, and her minions. They are snarling and
telling me disgusting things and cursing. I cover my ears but the sound of their voices refuse to leave
my head. The voices continue mocking me until I feel a huge wave of overwhelm drowns me.
"Stop!" I scream and the voices stop abruptly and disappear. The light is gone and the room is dark
again. I open my eyes and almost topple over in my chair. Elder Daciana is just opening her eyes and
she gives me a strange look.
"What did you see?" She asks.
"Alot." I breath out. I feel like I've just visited my current mental state and it scares me.
"You're afraid of judgment, Emerald." Daciana says, almost like have a statement, half a question. "And © 2024 Nôv/el/Dram/a.Org.
losing the ones you love."
"Don't we all?" I ask sarcastically and try to brush off the uncomfortable feeling I have in the pit of my
stomach.
"Something happened to you when you were younger, do you remember?" Elder Daciana says to my
surprise. "Something traumatic." She states.
"No." I answer simply. Traumatic? My parents would have told me or I would have remembered. Right?
"I thought so. But it is not my place to tell you." The elder says.
"Is it possible for you to tell me anything about it?" I ask curiously even though I know it will probably
ruin my already tarnished mental state and jeopardise the trust I have for my parents.
"It's not my place to tell you, I'll leave that up to your parents." Elder Daciana says slowly. "But I do
have some advice for you. Self-love is the first love. There is no way you can love someone else if you
don't focus on yourself first. You may not always be strong, but you should always be brave, Emerald.
Bravery is key in all of our battles. Always be honest, and never forget that everything comes at a
price." She finishes with a smile.
"That's a lot to take in but I'll try to remember and practice those stuff you just said. Thank you." I tell
Elder Daciana. At first she scared me but she is pretty dope. Gives good advice too.
"It was an honor to be in the presence of a prophecy. You are a special one Emerald, don't let anyone
make you question that." Daciana said with a smile. I thanked her again and even gave her a small
hug, and left the room. Spencer was sitting on the stairs with her phone in her hand. She got up as
soon as she saw me and asked me if I was okay.
"I could eat something." I tell her truthfully and laugh.
"What do you say we sneak out?" Spencer asks with a cunning smile in her face.
