Chapter 22 Flaunting Love, As the Legends Say
So long as she met that mentor, she might find her birth parents!
Seeing the sparks in Blanca’s eyes, Matthew cocked his eyebrow. “You raised trouble in front of my father and grandpa last night, and you still want me to introduce you?”
“You bastard!!” Blanca pointed at him angrily. She didn’t think he’d go back on his word!
When he saw Blanca’s arched brow, Matthew smiled, pleased.
He sat down on the sofa and took his necktie off casually. “Well, you can’t say you didn’t raise trouble, can you?”
Blanca – “…”
She couldn’t.
Biting her lip, she felt a surge of resentment. If those people hadn’t deliberately targeted her, would she have acted out? She wasn’t going to let people step all over her.
Come to think of it, Blanca wrinkled her nose. “Fine, I made trouble. So what will it take for you to agree?”
Matthew raised his eyebrow, a bit of emotion flickering through his eyes.Belonging to NôvelDrama.Org.
Lips twitching, he suddenly leant close, his voice low and pleasant, like the notes from a bass cello.
“Promise me one thing, and I’ll take you.”
This again?
Blanca looked at him hatefully.
“I can make a promise, but what if you break your word again?”
“Oh? If you think I’ll break my word, then you don’t have to promise me anything.”
Matthew feigned being mad, even taking off his blazer lazily and going upstairs.
Blanca was howling inside. “Fine. Out with it. What do you want?”
“Prepare my lunch for me every day and deliver the food to my office for a month, and I’ll take you to meet my teacher.”
“Prepare your lunch!?”
Blanca yelled.
“Huh? Why me?”
The head of the Empire Group didn’t have assistants and butlers for that?
Matthew smiled. “You want something of me. Is that a good reason?”
Blanca took a deep breath. Fine, Matthew Grant, you win this round!
“All right,” Blanca said through clenched teeth. Then she smiled mildly.
The following day, Blanca prepared the lunch cooked by Mrs. Brown, dressed up in a red one-piece dress, and appeared in Matthew’s office.
Matthew signed off the last dotted line on his document, closed the blue folder, then lifted his head, unable to hide the bit of entrancement in his eyes.
His little wife had always been good-looking, but she stuck with T-shirts and jeans most of the time. This was a lovely sight.
He looked at her shoes and frowned.
“I thought you weren’t used to high heels.”
Blanca blinked, then pouted. “It’s all for you, you know!”
She set the lunch on the desk and continued. “I guessed you’re having me bring you meals to tell the world that you’re married, so those slatterns won’t come to tangle with you anymore. So I have to look the part and not embarrass you, at the very least.”
Blanca had thoughts sometimes, but she was sure that Matthew had married her to ward off his suitors.
And just today, when she’d walked into the CEO-exclusive elevator from the underground carpark and headed to Matthew’s office, she could feel several female employees she passed staring at her with murderous intent.
She was glad she hadn’t just put on a random pair of jeans and come out. They’d probably point and insult her. By then, it wouldn’t just be her losing face, but Matthew as well.
Maybe they were all just acting for the sake of their contract but their fates were still tied, and she didn’t want Matthew to be looked down on because of her.
She was at a disadvantage because of her background, so she had to pay extra attention to her image.
Matthew nodded, his face relaxing.
He stood and walked over to the sofa. “Come. I’ll eat here.”
