Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 239

In the VIP hospital room, Margot lay on the bed looking pale as ever. When she finally stirred awake, catching sight of the handsome man by her side, her heart practically melted. "Everett, how long have you been here? Why didn't you wake me?" she asked, her voice soft and a bit frail from being unwell.

Everett was perched on the sofa, busy with his laptop. He looked her way as she spoke, "Oh, you're awake. Feeling any better?"

"Yes, seeing you always makes me feel better. Even the baby seems to miss you; it calms down when you're here."

Margot's eyes were full of warmth as she gently caressed her slightly rounded belly. She went on, "Everett, do you want to come say hi?"

Everett set his laptop aside, maintaining a calm demeanor as if he hadn't heard her invitation. "You're alright now, so just rest. I have to head out," he said, rising and slipping on his jacket.

Margot wasn't about to let him leave so easily, especially knowing he'd taken Selena to try on wedding dresses today. He was probably rushing off to pick her up.

She had noticed Everett was getting increasingly attached to Selena. After three years of marriage without a wedding, now they were planning one! If that happened, Selena's status would be official, making Margot's hope for their divorce even dimmer. Today, there was no way she'd let him walk out.

Thunder suddenly boomed outside, the sound so loud it was almost terrifying. Margot clutched her belly, groaning in pain, "Everett, my stomach hurts again... it's really painful..."

Everett's brow furrowed, "I'll get the doctor to check on you." He walked to the bed, leaning down slightly to hit the call button.

Margot seized the moment,

throwing herself into his arms, holding him tight. Tears slid down her cheeks. "Everett, please don't leave. I'm scared of the thunder. Can't you stay with me...?"

"Let go," he said, his voice deep and steady.

Reluctantly, Margot pulled away, afraid to anger him further. As she looked up, she noticed a suspicious deep red mark on his shirt collar.

She knew exactly what it was a fresh love bite. It meant Everett had definitely been with Selena before coming here...

A wave of jealousy and resentment washed over Margot.

She had been by Everett's side for so long, offering herself time and again, yet he had never touched her. She had convinced herself that Everett was just reserved and hard to get close to.

If he didn't touch her, there was no way he'd touch Selena, whom he supposedly disliked. But the love bite shattered that illusion, leaving her dreams in tatters. Everett not only touched Selena but let her leave marks on him!

Margot couldn't accept this, her anger boiling over. She couldn't even touch a finger of his, so why could Selena have him?

Wendy had told her to be patient, reminding her that the baby washer ace in the hole. Margot agreed at the time, but ever since the incident with Jimmy, Everett had grown colder. Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

Even when she begged him, all he allowed was for Wendy to stay with her until the birth. After that, Wendy had to leave Newport for good.
