Alpha Kilian’s father? George Lances? The powerful and influential man who captivated numerous women in the Moonlight Pack when he was younger? The same man who built an immense business empire?
He was actually reaching out to her? For what purpose?
A chill ran down her spine as Shadow was taken aback, struggling to find her words. “Hello, Sir…”
Even though he was her father-in-law, she couldn’t bring herself to utter the word ‘Dad.’
“If you have the time tonight, I would like to treat you to dinner.” George’s voice was calm and assertive, reflecting the years of trials he had faced. Although it sounded like a command, it wasn’t intended as an offense.
Shadow understood one thing from his words. Despite giving her a choice, George left no room for refusal. She could only agree in response.
“Sure, I have the time.”
“Great. I’ll send the driver to pick you up. See you tonight.”
He hung up without any further ado.
From start to finish, George’s tone remained calm and powerful. No one could refuse him. Now she could imagine how cold and formidable Alpha Kilian must be.
Shadow didn’t dwell on anything else, hastily throwing aside her cell phone and rushing out the door. She hailed a taxi and headed towards Alpha Kilian’s Castle.
Her heart couldn’t help but race faster as the Pack grew more distant. George had mentioned that the driver would pick her up and bring her to Alpha Kilian’s Castle.Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
…
Shadow settled the bill and stood by the main entrance, patiently waiting for George’s man.
As she waited, she lifted her head to gaze at Alpha Kilian’s Castle.
The Castle was constructed halfway up the hill, making it appear eerie with its solitary presence. The white Castle stood quietly amidst the forest, emanating an unsettling aura. The solid black fences surrounded it, effectively repelling any intruders.
On this wintry day, Shadow’s face had turned pale from the cold. She hugged herself tightly, desperately trying to withstand the icy chill that made her teeth chatter.
However, she refrained from entering the Castle, choosing instead to wait at the main entrance.
After a while, a black car pulled up at the Castle’s entrance and stopped. Shadow’s curiosity piqued when she saw a gentle middle-aged man step out of the vehicle.
When their eyes met, a flicker of surprise flashed in the man’s gaze before he quickly concealed it.
This was the first time he had seen Alpha Kilian’s wife. And upon seeing her, he couldn’t help but be astonished. While he hadn’t expected a beauty, he certainly hadn’t anticipated this!
Regardless, Alpha Kilian was the sole heir of the Lances lineage. Even if he was disfigured, he remained the heir. Yet, to have such a woman as the wife of the Lances heir… He had never anticipated such a sight. Nevertheless, he maintained a composed expression.
He stood before Shadow and respectfully bowed. “Madam, I am Owen. Mr. Lances sent me to pick you up for dinner.”
So this was the driver sent by George to fetch her.
“Oh… Sorry to trouble you,” Shadow replied, attempting a jest as she let out a nervous laugh. She appeared rather foolish, as if she couldn’t grasp the situation.
Owen was taken aback. Was she also simple-minded? Nevertheless, he swiftly composed himself and opened the car door for her.
“Madame, please get in the car.”
Having said that, he circled around and seated himself in the driver’s seat, proceeding to drive away.
As the car disappeared into the forest, the curtains on the second floor of the Castle were swiftly drawn open. Inside stood Alpha Kilian and Frank, both attentively observing the scene unfolding before them. Their brows furrowed in unison.
Frank glanced at the car, then turned to Alpha Kilian. “Boss, are you truly going to let Madam see Mr. Lances just like that?”
“What choice do I have?” Alpha Kilian’s voice was deep and grim. He pocketed his hands and remarked, “She is nothing but a silly and foolish, ugly woman. Even if they meet, what can George possibly do to her?”

“But Madam is merely pretending!”
“And that is precisely her talent.”
If she could feign so convincingly in front of others, surely she could handle George alone, right?
Alpha Kilian pondered and smirked. Then he turned around and left.
…
Shadow had no idea where she was being taken, but she knew better than to ask. She simply sat in silence as the car journeyed on. After some time, a high-class restaurant came into view, and the car halted at its entrance.
The vicinity was filled with various luxurious cars, indicating that this was a gathering place for the upper class.
Shadow cast a glance at her worn-out, old clothes, and her heart couldn’t help but ache. Perhaps this wasn’t the best way to introduce herself to her father-in-law.
Owen escorted her to a private room, and upon entering, he gestured for her to do so. “Mr. Lances is waiting for you inside.”
“Okay,” Shadow smiled. “Thank you, Mr. Owen.”
Owen watched as she stepped into the room, closing the door behind her. He pondered for a moment, then shook his head gently.
At the table, a refined and authoritative middle-aged man perused the menu. Though his face displayed a few wrinkles, he exuded an air of grace.
Upon hearing some movement, he set down the menu and looked up.
Shadow scrutinized the man before her attentively. It was George Lances, the renowned business magnate of the Holsten Pack.
Initially, she had assumed that upon seeing her face and her modest attire, he would scorn her and turn away in disgust, just like everyone else. Yet, to her surprise, he smiled warmly and inquired softly, “Are you Shadow? I finally get to meet you.”
