Chapter 19
“I’m just running a small business and want to focus on it. Please stop bothering me, both you and Ms. Green,” Shelmaine said, firmin her stance.
She had already admitted fault regarding the incident with Felicity and had formally apologized to Natasha Natasha had won that battle.
As for leaving South Haven, it was out of the question. Her career and friends were here. Shelmaine had no reason to leave just because she divorced Samuel.
“Did Natasha say those things to you?” Samuel’s voice was cold and emotionless. It was as if, no matter what Natasha had said or done, he would protect her to the end.
“Yes. She said them. If you don’t believe me, that’s your problem. I don’t need to speak ill of her.”
“I’m sorry. If she really said those things, I apologize on her behalf,” Samuel apologizedAll text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
But Shelmine found his apology ironic, Was he so devoted to Natasha that he would defend her no matter what she did?
“I don’t need your apology. I just need both you and her to stop harassing me.” Shelmine then decisively hung up, eager to sever all ties with them.
After being hung upon, Samuel immediately called Natasha.
She swiftly answered the call and spoke in a sweet tone, “Samuel?”
“Did you go see Shelmaine? Samuel asked in a serious tone.
“Me?” Natasha responded quickly, “Yes, I did go see her.”
“What did you go see her for?”
Natasha sensed the coldness in Samuel’s voice and quickly explained, “I didn’t do anything.”
“Are you sure you want me to repeat myself?”
“I went to see her because her sister stole my ring. Samuel, I didn’t go to see her for any other reason. I just wanted to get my ring back. It’s a family heirloom from my mother, and it’s very important to me.
“I’ve reported it to the police, but her sister denied taking it, so I thought maybe Shelmine could help persuade her…” Natasha’s explanation sounded plausible.
Samuel’s voice softened slightly. “When did this happen?”
“A few days ago.”
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
Natasha remained silent
Samuel continued, “If you have any issues, you should come to me directly. Don’t go to Shelmaine.”
“I understand. I’m sorry for causing you trouble.” Natasha continued, “I don’t know it I’ll be able to recover the ring I was planning to wear it for a charity event, and it holds great significance for me.”
“I’ll have Brody handle the matter with her sister. Don’t worry about it.”
“Should I apologize to Shelmaine? I said some things that I shouldn’t have because of her sister.”
“No need.”
Natasha smiled slightly, knowing that Samuel still believed her. However, she hadn’t expected Shemaine to dare complain to him.
She bit her lip in frustration.
“Isn’t that wrong? Apologizing for my mistakes is the right thing to do. I misdirected my anger at her. It’s not her fault. If you do contact her, could you please apologize on behalf of me?
Samuel didn’t a agree. Instead, he said, “You go ahead and handle your own things. This matter doesn’t concern you anymore.”
After hanging up, he then called Brody. “Natasha’s ring was stolen by Shelmaine’s sister, and the police are involved. Follow up on this and find a way to retrieve it.”
“Understood. I’ll handle it right away,” Brody replied and left immediately.
Samuel removed his glasses and leaned back in his chair,
Shelmaine’s words echoed in his mind.
What did she mean by not wanting to be harassed? Did she despise him so much?
Even though they wear divorced, they had parted on relatively good terms, didn’t they?
Samuel rubbed his temples, lest in thought
Suddenly, his phone rang, Intempting his contemplation. He looked at the screen and saw it was a call from home
