Chapter 578 Forum Post
Chapter 578 Forum Post
Clarissa thought that Howard would be a mess after three years of prison and squatting at Rebecca’s
house, but he looked decent. He was neatly dressed, and had a professional air to him.
Still, Clarissa didn’t want to deal with Howard now. She tried to hide her face as she entered the
university grounds.
When she unconsciously looked back, she thought she saw a woman throwing herself into Howard’s
arms.
Clarissa now understood why Howard was so well-dressed. He must have landed himself a student.
Howard was nearly fifty years old, but he had somehow managed to get himself a young woman in her
early twenties.
She didn’t know what Rebecca would think of this once she found out. However, Clarissa wasn’t the
kind of person who would bring up such a controversial matter.
When she got him, Clarissa sent Director Jones a Whatsapp message.
Clarissa: [Director Jones, I’d like to resign from the position of Independent Director. I’m a newcomer,
and there’s a lot that I’m not familiar with. At the meeting just now, I needed to put in a lot of effort to
follow the contents. Besides, I’ve put all my heart into teaching. What do you think? Sorry to bother you
about this.]
Not long after, she received a reply.
Director Jones: [Clarissa, this is a job with an annual salary of two million. You should have a good
think about this. If you’re not familiar with the work, you will learn the ropes soon enough. Or is there
some other issue?]
Clarissa: [There’s nothing. I’ve thought about it. I really want to quit.]
Director Jones: [Then I’ll ask Mr. Lawrence about it.]
Director Jones sent Damien a Whatsapp message.
Director Jones: [Mr. Lawrence, Clarissa wants to quit. She says she can’t follow the contents of the
meeting.]
At that moment, Damien was having some soup.
Damien: [Rejected! She can learn to keep up.] Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
Director Jones took a screenshot of the interaction and sent it to Clarissa. He also sent her a helpless
emoji and four words, “I can’t help you.”
Clarissa really had no other choice.
She couldn’t help but think that Damien was truly twisted. He wanted her to see how loving he and
Chanel were and make her suffer.
But didn’t he know the kind of a person Chanel was?
Then again, Clarissa didn’t have to bother about Chanel regardless of what kind of person the latter
was. It remained true that Chanel truly loved him, from Florin all the way to Emmeria and back. Now, it
seemed she had finally gotten what she wanted.
When she thought of that, Clarissa was again reminded of how reckless Damien had been. Anger filled
her once more. Since she had failed in getting her resignation, she would make life difficult for Damien.
Otherwise, Damien would underestimate her.
When it came to work, Clarissa went with the flow.
Clarissa recalled what Janet had said and thought how hesitant Janet had been. She thought the issue
probably had something to do with her. And so, Clarissa opened the Whirlwind forum page.
It had been a long time since she had even logged on.
Howard had used a very typical username, so anyone could guess that it was him at a glance.
One of the posts had the gist of how the New East Corporation’s president had used his position to
sleep with a lowly intern at the company and even paid her a handsome sum to keep her mouth shut.
At the same time, he manipulated her into falling in love with him and even had her give birth to a child
for him. Yet he turned against her and married his ex-classmate from university, who had been crushing
on him for more than a decade.
Of course, the post was much more sordid than that and described how Clarissa had slept with Damien
too. It was written very explicitly, and included the kind of sweet words Damien had used on Clarissa
while they had been married.
Clarissa was pissed at how Howard had revealed her identity.
This post had not only been posted on Whirlwind, but also other public online forums.
Clarissa was pretty sure Damien wouldn’t be bothered by such a post.
All the things happened years ago, so Clarissa didn’t really want to bother either.
Just as she was turning off her computer, her phone rang.
