Chapter 520 You Still Love Damien
Chapter 520 You Still Love Damien
Clarissa had a feeling Damien said all those things in front of Chanel on purpose. Did he suspect the
latter being the culprit behind the theft of her thesis?
After the meal, Damien returned to his grandfather’s house. Neil was still there, after all.
Meanwhile, Clarissa returned to Marble Garden. Just as she was about to open the door, her phone
started ringing. It was a request for a voice call session from Bethany, who wanted to talk to Clarissa
about something.
“What are you up to, Clarissa?” Bethany asked.
Truthfully speaking, when Clarissa heard Bethany’s question, she felt nervous. She was afraid that
Bethany would tell her the identity of the person who had been investigating her blood type. However,
the scenario that she dreaded never happened. So far, Bethany had been discussing casual topics with
her.
“I’m still writing my thesis, so I’ve been staying on the campus.”
“I’m on my annual leave right now. If I go back to my mom’s place, she’ll definitely nag me to find a
suitor. Can I visit you instead? I love visiting academic institutes,” Bethany said.
“Sure thing!” Clarissa replied. “My place is quite small since I only have one bedroom, which means
there’s only one bed available. We can squeeze on the same bed. Now that Lily has a kid, she can’t
stay with me, so I told her to stay in a hotel. You, on the other hand, don’t have to spend any money on
accommodations.”
‘Bethany’s timing is impeccable. I’m worried Damien might spend the night with me. I think he won’t
stay over now that Bethany’s coming to stay with me.’
“Then I’ll head over to your place tomorrow.”
“No problem. Shoot me a Whatsapp message once you’ve arrived. I’ll pick you up at the station,”
Clarissa said.
Since the duo was pretty free, they started chatting up a storm. Clarissa filled Bethany in on Caleb’s
decision to get drafted into the army. Then, she told her that she got angry at Damien for no reason,
and the worst part was that she had no idea why she would do that. She had no idea what sort of
feelings she had for him.
The whole time, Bethany just listened to Clarissa’s ramblings over the phone.
“Did Damien find out about Caleb’s special confession to you?” she asked.
Clarissa froze for a long time. She had no idea Bethany was this sharp. One question from her was
able to define the relationship between Clarissa and Caleb.
“Yes. Caleb used to court me and confessed to me during a basketball game. Damien was there at that
time, and he witnessed everything,” she replied.
“Isn’t this obvious? You hate the fact that Damien is defending his own love rival. You think he doesn’t
love you at all.”
“You’re just spouting nonsense right now!” Clarissa felt embarrassed and angry at the same time. Property belongs to Nôvel(D)r/ama.Org.
“You still love Damien, don’t you? You just refuse to acknowledge that.”
Clarissa moved to hang up on Bethany.
“Do you want me to visit you or not? I’m not visiting if you treat me with that attitude the next few days,”
Bethany chimed.
“Just come over. I’ll deal with you once you’re here,” Clarissa seethed.
“See you tomorrow.”
After Clarissa disconnected the call, she realized her cheeks felt extraordinarily warm.
The thought of Bethany visiting her made her happy. She continued to work on her thesis and prepare
her lecture notes in order to cover as much progress as she could.
Once Chanel got home, she recalled Damien’s words. The more she thought about them, the more
paranoid and nervous she became.
Logan happened to be throwing a tantrum, so Chanel smacked him on the butt twice in a row.
She and Logan were never related by blood to begin with. The reason Chanel adopted Logan was so
she could use him as an excuse to talk to Damien. For her, Logan was nothing but a pawn. Now that
Chanel was unable to find another chance to keep in contact with Damien, it was natural for her to vent
her frustrations on Logan.
Logan started bawling loudly.
Chanel grew irritated whenever she saw the little boy. The sight of him reminded of his sinful mother,
who was a murderer. ‘I can’t keep this little b*stard around me any longer. Once he grows up, he’ll
definitely turn out like his mom!’
After that, Chanel received a Whatsapp message from the university’s group chat.
[An assembly will be held in the university hall tomorrow afternoon at two o’clock sharp. The title
‘honorary professor’ will be bestowed to Seth Highmore, a renowned psychologist.]
Chanel couldn’t care less about the message’s contents.
Naturally, Clarissa received the same message as well.
