Chapter 2
Chapter 2
All the servants went out to welcome Lenny home, but Scarlet remained upstairs and watched his
arrival quietly from her bedroom window.
She had to admit that Lenny was devastatingly dashing and sexy.
He was tall with long legs, and his body was well-proportioned. He had no extra fat in his body, and his
muscles were lean and strong.
She knew that much about him physically. Because she was able to experience him fully that fateful
night.
What happened between them that night was so ridiculously surreal that Scarlet still thought it was just
a dream. She didn't know how to tell him when she came back home the morning after.
Lenny's face was impeccable, as if God had taken extra time to carefully craft his face. He looked so
handsome with well-defined features.
God was so unfair. He not only gave Lenny a perfect build and a handsome face, but He also gave him
a high IQ and a great educational background.
Lenny got his degrees in law and finance in his teens. After graduation, he took over the family
business. The company's business had been booming during the past few years, and eventually, it
became the number one commercial giant in the capital city. A few years ago, the company ventured
into the overseas market and was able to develop well abroad.
After they got married, Lenny went abroad the next day. His excuse for leaving was that the company
was starting a new branch and that he needed to focus on it. But since then, he hadn't been home.
Scarlet was lost in various fancies and conjectures when she suddenly felt Lenny's cold eyes on her.
Startled, she quickly shut the curtains and stepped away from the window.
She didn't know what brought on such a reflexive reaction. She supposed it was because she felt a
sense of inferiority around Lenny.
Scarlet wasn't favored by her own family, which was headed by her stepmother. If she hadn't married
Lenny, she would've been at home right now and playing the role of her stepmother's personal maid.
Thanks to Scarlet's mother who had saved Lenny's grandmother, Scarlet managed to marry Lenny.
She knew that even though Lenny didn't like her, he didn't hate her. After all, she knew her place and
always behaved herself.
Soon, a servant knocked on her door.
"Mr. Foster is home, Mrs. Foster. He wants you to join him for a meal downstairs."
Scarlet hurried downstairs. In the dining room, the table was already set, and the dishes had been
served.
Lenny sat at one end of the long dining table. Scarlet proceeded to sit at the other end where a place
had been set up for her.
They liked different foods. Since it was his homecoming, all the dishes served were according to his
preference.
Looking at the medi
um rare steak on her plate, Scarlet couldn't help wrinkling her nose.
"What's wrong?" Lenny asked, looking up at her and frowning slightly.
"My steak still has blood in it," she replied. She wasn't used to steak that was not well done, and her
appetite hadn't been good recently, perhaps because of the hot weather.
"Get her a well-done steak, please."
"Thank you." Scarlet thanked him in a low voice.
During the meal, neither of them spoke. They were indifferent to each other, as if they weren't a couple
at all. They looked like two perfect strangers who just happened to eat on the same table.
After the meal, Lenny took his napkin and wiped his lips. After hesitating for a moment, Scarlet took a
deep breath, making up her mind to tell him what happened that night.
"Lenny."

The two of them spoke at the same time.
Looking at him, Scarlet was nervous for a moment and said immediately, "You go first."
Lenny didn't refuse and spoke directly. "Scarlet, I want a divorce."
That short sentence echoed in her head for a few moments.
Right then, a servant came in and handed the papers to Scarlet. Lenny had already signed them. His
handwriting was beautiful, like that of a seasoned calligrapher.
However, she was no longer in the mood to appreciate it.
Distribution of property was the most important thing that needed to be settled during a divorce.
Scarlet quickly went over the agreement. She would get two properties after the divorce, one was a
shop, and the other was an apartment. Both of them were in a prime location with a market price of
tens of millions of dollars. In addition, she would get fifty million dollars as compensation. She would
even get a small company that pumped out an annual net profit of several million dollars.
It seemed that sleeping with Lenny once yielded a fair deal.
However, Scarlet was more curious about the reason Lenny wanted to divorce her.
She closed the folder containing the divorce papers and looked at him boldly for the first time.
Lenny met her gaze with equal intensity.
This was the first time that he had looked at her face carefully. Her face was small and delicate. Her
eyes were big and beautiful, and they shone like a pair of gems. The pure and innocent look in her
eyes reminded him of a pool of clear water.
She was very thin, as if his family had been treating her shabbily.
Her figure, however, was similar to that of the girl he met that night.
If Lenny crossed paths with that girl again, he would definitely want her to gain some weight. She was
too skinny, which stirred up his sympathy.
"May I ask why?" Scarlet asked.
"Because I have someone else in my heart," he confessed.
