Chapter 836 Joseph Locks Himself in the Room
Chapter 836 Joseph Locks Himself in the Room
"No, sir... Mr. Noah ordered me to do this. I'm just a housekeeper and dare not ask too much about my master’s private affairs."
Knowing what was going on, Desmond did not believe George's excuse. "Collect your salary from finance for this month and leave."
George's expression fell, never having dreamt of such serious consequences. He got on his knees. "Sir, please give me a chance to turn over a new leaf. I've been working here diligently for more than ten years."
"You’ve taken the wrong person as your master. I can't keep you." Desmond lost his patience. He waved to signal George to get out.
George trembled, but he did not dare to say anymore. Looking at the old man, he felt as if he had ruined himself through the mistake he had made. Desmond's reputation made others assume he was a kind old man. They forgot that he was the one who single-handedly established his business in traditional jewelry in Ameria in his younger days.
Desmond did not deal with Noah right away. He instead informed the executives of Exotic Star to prepare for a board meeting that would take place tomorrow morning. He did not know why Noah was lying but it was undoubtedly wrong. Noah had made a grave mistake in trying to conceal something from Desmond with all the helpers of the manor.
It had been a long time since Desmond had disciplined Noah, which was now turning out to be a bad thing. If he did not step up, Noah might bully Chloe in the future.

Joseph had locked himself in his study for a whole day, either eating or drinking. Jasper carried over a plate of pasta and said in a mature tone, "Are you still not going to eat? Despite being an adult now, you simply refuse to listen to others."
Harold, sitting in his wheelchair, and snorted. "Ignore him. He won't starve to death in just a day."
"Greatpapi, don't you care about Daddy?"
"I don’t. I’m fine with him not talking. He’s much more likable this way."
Harold was dressed neatly as if he was heading out.
Jasper said curiously, "You look like you’re about to handle some business."
"I'm going to meet Desmond. Do I look good?"
Joseph had failed to win Chloe back, but as his elder, Harold could help him. He could fight for it.
"You look good." Jasper averted his gaze. "I want to go too. Please take me along, Greatpapi."
"No, the adults are going to discuss some matter. Don't stick your nose in this."
"Please take me along. I want to see Ms. Chloe's grandfather."
Jasper rarely acted coquettishly, and Harold was persuaded. "Fine, I'll take you. Go get changed."

The executives of Exotic Star were discussing softly with one another in the conference room. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
"What's going on? Why did Mr. Desmond suddenly call for a meeting?"
"I don't know. Maybe he wants to announce his retirement?"
"He has long retired. We haven’t seen him around for a couple of years now."
"That’s different. He may not be here, but he still holds shares."
"You’re right, and he is the largest shareholder. I wonder who he'll transfer them to. He cares so much for both of them."
"I think Chloe will most probably be the recipient. After all, she’s his biological granddaughter."
"Don’t be too sure about that. Chloe is just a middle-level employee here."
"Hush, keep your voice down. Here they come."
Chloe and Noah entered the room at the same time. This was her second time attending an executive-level meeting. The first was when she joined the company.
"Why is Grandpa suddenly holding a board meeting?" Chloe was stunned when she learned of this this morning.
