As I sat in Noah’s car I couldn’t help but think about what went wrong in a matter of minutes. Why did she say such things about my mom? It hurt bad. She didn’t even know me and she was so quick to judge me.

Noah had driven us out of the premises and had packed somewhere on the road where it was safe to pack.

“Rachael,” he said, and suddenly the tears began to slip from my eyes easily. “I don’t know what to say about what my mom did” he sighed. “I’m sorry” he gasped out.All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“It’s okay,” I said brushing the tears angrily from my eyes.

“Rachael it doesn’t matter what they say or what anyone says I will take responsibility for my actions,” he said and I still didn’t look up to meet his eyes.

“Noah” I breathe out raising my eyes to see his blue eyes staring at me. “If your mother is so against us even if she just met me then you should listen to your, mom,” I said the tears coming out from my eyes.

“Then what will happen to you?” he asked concerned. “Nobody will understand you they will all judge you for a mistake,” he said and I could feel the kindness from his words.

“I can be a single mom,” I said sincerely and he frowned.

“And what about me?” he asked again.

“What about you?” I questioned and he frowned again.

“Yes won’t I have to meet my child?” he asked.

“You will, I will never keep him or her away from you,” I say and he shakes his head.

“We are going through with this wedding. I’m sure she will come around” he said and I just don’t want to right now. “I’m sorry for the harsh words and the slaps. I apologize on her behalf” he said the apology all around his words.

“It’s okay,” I say cleaning the ever rolling tears down my cheek.

“Can I drop you off now?” he asked and I shook my head. “What is it?” he asked as he sat well.

“My mom can’t see me like this,” I say finally and he nods.

“Where to madam” he said and I managed to smile a little.

“Anywhere,” I said and he drove.

He drove around until I calmed down and I didn’t look like a nervous wreck anymore. He later dropped me at my house and drove away.

“Where have you been all day?” Mom asked when I entered the dining table to see her and Dad sitting there having his dinner.

“I was out with Noah. We went to see his mom and after that, we just spent some time together.” I tell them taking a seat too. It wasn’t a lie. We talked and tried to know each other.

“So have you guys chosen a date yet?” Mom asked me and then Dad gave a look with which she calmed down. “I’m sorry I’m just excited” she admitted and I chuckled.

“No, we haven’t yet. You guys have to meet his mom and then we can inform the entire family” I said because that is the procedure for all these family formation things.

“We are free this weekend to meet his mom,” Dad said and I could see the excitement in his eyes.

“I will relay that message to Noah,” I said standing up.

“Aren’t you going to have your dinner?” Mom asked me as I left the place.

“I already had dinner” I lied and they nodded going back to the conversation.

“Night honey” Mom called after me.

“Night Fam,” I said and left the place. I plopped onto the bed and thought about everything that happened today. I decided to go with Noah’s words she must have been having a bad day. But wasn’t that too extreme?

I sent a text to Noah. He had to know that in the next two days, my parents wanted to meet his mom. He had to fix her before that time.

Me: Noah. Mom and Dad said they would like to meet your mom this Friday.

Noah: that isn’t a problem. She would have been over what she was sulking over by tomorrow.

Me: okay but you have to tell her not to make a scene.

Noah: no problem she wouldn’t.

Me: okay good night.

Noah: good night sweets.

Me: sweets?

Noah: it’s a new name for you.

Me: good night Mr. Lorraine.

Noah: good night sweets.

I slept off after changing into something comfortable. It was a long day for me and the baby. I wonder if it will be a girl or a boy. My baby. My baby growing inside me.

In the morning I had enough strength to go to the office and attend to Lila’s birthday bash. We worked round the clock and when I finally got off work I discovered that I had unread messages a lot from the girls which I refused to reply to because I might spill and that I did not do with all of them. But one stood out from the rest. Noah’s text.

Noah: When you get off work call me…

When I read it since we were sort of engaged or something like that I put a call across to him which he picked up now.

“Hello,” I said and he answered me with a weird laugh.

“Finally” he grumbled. “You work too hard” he complained and I rolled my eyes at him.

“You said to call you” I reminded him and he made a sound from the back of his throat. I waited for him to speak and when he didn’t I pressed on him.

“Are you still at the office?” he asked me and I nodded to myself.

“Yes,” I said.

“Okay stay there I’m coming to get you,” he said. When I was about to protest the beeping sound showed that he had hung up. I told my driver to go and that someone was coming to get me.

I waited outside for him
