I Once Married You (Harper and Benjamin)

Chapter 46

Save the Baby

Benjamin said, "Harper, you are so hypocritical. You keep saying that you are just friends. What do you mean now?"

"Everyone will change."

Harper was not afraid of Benjamin's misunderstanding.

Her words ignited his fury completely. His grasp on her chin tightened, threatening to crush it if he desired.

Harper endured it. Her coldness dissatisfied Benjamin. Then, he threw her on the bed with force and immediately pressed against her.

He was extremely sullen. Glaring at her, he said in a low and hoarse voice, "Harper, as my wife, you care about another man. Do you think I dare not do anything to you?"

Harper protected her abdomen with both hands, refusing to get close to Benjamin, which annoyed him even more.

She whispered, "Benjamin, I'm telling the truth. Why do I have such a big reaction?"

"Truth? Do you want to tell me that you are in love with Frank?" Benjamin sneered, and his words were nothing but indifferent mockery.

Harper was silent.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

"Answer me. Harper, are you in love with him?"

He continued to press, his gaze icy.

"I am if that's what you believe. Consider me."

Without giving her a chance to finish her sentence, Benjamin kissed her directly on the lips. He was violent, as if trying to punish her so fiercely that she felt only pain.

Harper struggled, but the more she did, the more Benjamin desired.

In half a minute, she looked disheveled. She patted his shoulders vigorously and almost slapped him several times in the face but to no avail.

"Benjamin, let go of me and get away!" Harper almost screamed incoherently, trembling.

All that was in her mind was that she could not allow Benjamin to make love to her, for she was not yet past the critical period of pregnancy. Moreover, at this moment, he was entirely intent on disciplining her. She could not afford the consequences.

However, she was no match for a man anyway.

"Benjamin, you bastard, I hate you!"

Harper didn't know how long she had been scolding. Yet, she was too hoarse to pronounce a syllable.

The weather in Mayby was changeable. It started to rain heavily at some point. The lightning and thunder outside never stopped, like the background of a nightmare.

It took a long time before everything finally came to an end.

Harper felt uncomfortable all over.

Every part of her body hurt.

Her lower abdomen, in particular, felt as if it were being ripped apart, and the pain continued to increase.

With all her strength, Harper got up from bed, walked to the bathroom, and stood under the shower, allowing the warm water to cascade over her head.

A few minutes later, she was about to get dressed but found the dazzling blood flowing down her legs. It gushed like a menstrual period, which made her immediately panic.

Her mind went blank, and she shouted, "Benjamin."

Upon hearing this, Benjamin rushed towards the bathroom. He pushed the door open and saw Harper falling backward. He agilely held her in his arms.

But she was already unconscious. No matter how he called out, there was no response. With a serious look, he instantly pulled a towel and wrapped it around her body before rapidly carrying her out. "Get the car ready. Go to the hospital. Hurry up."

The car sped along and soon reached the hospital.

Harper was sent to the emergency room while Benjamin stood outside waiting in a mess.

Wearing home clothes with a faint trace of blood and slippers, he was completely different from the handsome and dignified person he used to be.

In the emergency room, Harper was put on oxygen. After gradually regaining consciousness, she grabbed the doctor's hand and said weakly, "I want Julie." She insisted on Julie's presence. Otherwise, she would not receive treatment.

The doctor had no choice but to ask the nurse to get Julie over.

Soon, Julie entered the emergency room. She was shocked to see Harper. Harper held her hand and begged, "Julie, help me. You must save the baby." "Don't worry. Trust the doctor. It will be fine. You can't get excited. Cooperate well, okay?"

Julie calmed Harper and quickly explained her situation to the doctor. Then, she asked him not to tell anyone except the patient that she was pregnant.

She came out of the emergency room after taking care of everything. She recognized Benjamin, and he also knew her.

At the sight of Julie, he asked, "How is Harper doing?"

Julie said, "The situation is not very optimistic. Mr. Martin, if you can't love her, set her free and end this marriage, okay?"

With a long face, Benjamin didn't reply. Julie glanced at him indifferently and left.

Harper woke up and found herself in the ward. The smell of disinfectant filled her nose, and the white ceiling came into view. After slowly regaining consciousness, she immediately placed her hand on her abdomen and subconsciously tried to sit up.

"What are you doing? The doctor said you should rest in bed and not move. Lie down, okay?"

Right beside the bed, Benjamin placed a hand on her shoulder to prevent her from getting up.

"I want to see the doctor."

Harper was overly sensitive and persistent.

Thinking she was worried about her health, Benjamin explained, "The doctor said you're fine. You need to rest now." However, Harper refused to comply and insisted on requesting to meet the doctor. She said, "Get away. I want the doctor." She pushed Benjamin away and resisted his touch.

Her stubbornness made his face dark and his eyes indifferent. Ultimately, he remained silent, summoning the doctor instead.

Harper was solemn and hesitant to speak. Yet, with Benjamin nearby, she restrained herself from asking what she wanted and said, "Doctor, am I really okay?"

"Yes. Don't worry. Julie has informed us of your situation. Everything is fine. Lie down and recuperate for two days. When your condition is stable, you can be discharged from the hospital."

Julie had specially warned the doctor, so he understood the implications of Harper's words. In order to completely reassure Harper, the doctor winked at her.

Only then did Harper breathe a sigh of relief.

She lay down again. Ignoring Benjamin, she put her hands on her abdomen and said silently over and over in her mind, "Baby, thank you. I am very grateful that you haven't left me and that you are strong. Don't worry. I will protect you. I won't let you get hurt."

It was nearly dawn after a busy night. She hadn't slept well, repeatedly waking and falling back asleep.

At eight in the morning, Benjamin roused her from sleep. "Eat something before going to bed. The doctor said that you are relatively weak now. You have to eat, okay?"

Harper opened her eyes but did not look at him.

Benjamin added, "Last night..."

"You don't have to keep an eye on me. I want to rest after breakfast, so can you leave?"

Harper cut him short, not wishing to hear any words about last night.
