Chapter 71
Lucian:
"Thump" Damian's back hit the ground with an alarming impact, causing his breath to escape from his mouth in a violent way.
The ground had formed a dust cloud around him, making him cough all the more as the particles entered his lungs.
I grinned at the sight before me not because I liked him being in pain, but because I knew I hadn't lost my strength, but instead, I had seemed to gain a lot more than I have ever had in my entire life.
I was at my peak. Something I need now more than ever in order to protect my mate and my unborn child.
"Lucian, your eyes", Damian said, looking up at me from the floor with a confused look in his eyes.
I cocked my eyebrow at him.
"Don't tell me you're falling for me. Oh wait you already have," I giggled a little and Damian shuffled his way back onto his feet not moving his eyes, of mine.
"Chill dude I'm taken"
"No you idiot. Your eyes have gone golden" He said and I shrugged off his words.
"Stop joking and using this as an excuse let's get back to training"
"Ughh" he pulled his phone out of his pocket and showed me my reflection in his camera.
I looked down and couldn't believe my eyes. Literally. I was gob-smacked. My whole eyes were replaced by two golden orbs. And yet I could see better than ever. Suddenly, I felt like my whole world came crashing down and I was having a panic attack. I knew these weren't my feelings, since I was OK with the idea of golden eyes.
I knew these were Scarlets feelings. I giggled a little thinking that she might be over reacting in regards to the gender reveal party themes.
I mean that couldn't possibly be so bad. Suddenly, Layla's voice was rambling in my mind with words that seemed to not be able to form a sentence.
"Saige... passed out...Gender reveal... Zeus... Aiden"
"Slow down Layla. Tell me what's going on your not making sense right now"
"Saige was here but also not here and said that she could either leave you and agree to marry Aiden. Then she could keep her baby or Saige would kill you and the baby."
My heart immediately sunk down into my abdomen.
""Where is Scarlet now?"
"Here in her office but she's..."
I closed off the mind link and started running to the pack house.
Within a minute, I appeared in the office and saw a devastating scene in front of me. My mate was out cold in the arms of my mother and hers.
I scooped her up in my arms carrying her bridal style. I started jogging down the halls, making my way to the pack hospital.
On my way there, I saw Damian still running to follow me.
"Alpha, how'd you....?"
"Damian, there was a breach in the borders. FIX IT NOW". I used my alpha tone and he nodded.
When I reached the Hospital, a bunch of nurses bombarded us and pointed me in a direction to take her.
I laid her down on the bed and brushed the loosed strand of hair that fell so delicately on her face away.
"No one will take you from me Princess", I whispered under my breath. Soon I heard a shaky breath behind me and turned to face our doctor.
She was a fragile old woman with a beautiful mind. Wise beyond her years, especially within the medical field.
She was the best of the best. Sweat pearls decorated her forehead wrinkles whilst she crouched over trying to catch her breath. She looked straight at my mate who was lying down on the bed unconscious. "W... What seems to be the problem, Alpha" she said in a breathless tone.
"She passed out", I said coldly as I looked over my shoulder at my beautiful mate.
"Yes Alpha, that much I can see. But please inform me as to why she passed out where she passed out and did she fall hard?"
I shook my head of the bad thoughts that were running through my head. Trying to get rid of them. I was beyond angry.
I was filled with hatred for Aiden and his plans. He was the sole reason for this and now it had become my life's mission to rip his throat out.
"Alpha please, we need to work quickly."
"Yes, of course. I believe she fainted due to stress" I said, concealing the parts as to why. I didn't need the pack to break out into total panic.
"She passed out in her office and she was caught on the way down so there shouldn't be any damage due to her fall." I continued.
The doctor let out a sigh of relief at my words. "Ok, the major issues like the loss of amniotic fluid, placenta abruption or a fetomaternal hemorrhage
seem to be out of the equation for the time being. However, high stress levels aren't good for the baby as it can increase the chances of a preterm pup or a low birth weight,
both which can indirectly affect the pups' health and development", she said in a professional tone.
I just nodded my head at each word she mentioned and the more I nodded the hotter the fire of hatred burned within me. It was like gasoline on a fire. I was ready to explode.
"I would suggest that we sort out whatever the stress factor may be as long-term stress does put the pup in danger."
"Yes doctor, I understand" I said, clenching down on my teeth. The doctor then went over to her and hooked her up to a couple of machines.
While she was looking at the monitors, she wrote down on a piece of paper.
"OK, her blood pressure is a little high and her sugar low. I'll order her an IV.
As for her blood pressure, I just want to keep an eye on her for the time being to make sure we aren't unnecessarily medicating her or the baby.
I don't see any swelling at the moment, but that doesn't rule out pre-eclampsia"All content © N/.ôvel/Dr/ama.Org.
The doctor then left and a nurse entered with the IV bag. I sat down in the chair beside her bed just holding onto her hand.
"Princess, you better be okay or else I'll tear the world down until you are."
