CHAPTER EIGHTEEN
“Baby, are you ok?” We are in the kitchen now for breakfast. I put the coffee on her mug. “Baby?”
“Aren’t you ready to have children yet?” she asked so I stopped. Last night when we arrived she didn’t talk to me. We slept without talking. I wanted to caress her but she ignored me.
“Is this because of what happened yesterday?” But she did not answer nor did she touch the food. “See, baby, if we have children I want us to get married first.”
“I didn’t ask you to marry me cause I know you don’t have any plan. I asked if you are not ready to have a child? We can have one, even if we are not married. When I see you with the children of your friend you seem to be ready. You stand them as a second father, which means you can be a good father to your own.”
“Yara, my friend’s children are different from mine. If I borrow one of them I can return it anytime I get bored. I can’t do that to my baby.”
“So you’re not ready yet.”
“Are you pregnant?” I ask.
“No. I just asked because I’m ready and I really want to. But if your not, it’s ok.” I sighed and pull my chair closer to her. Honestly, if I got her pregnant I would accept it. Not because I don’t have a choice but because it’s my baby. But thanks God, no because I am not ready. I kissed her in the head and held her hand.
“Not now, baby, as of now, I want to enjoy my moment with you. By the way, since you already mentioned that. Can you do some contraceptives? Just to make sure. When we’re ready you can stop.”
“I am ready, you just aren’t.” She grabbed her hand.
“Baby, are you ok? Lately, you’ve always been angry.”
“No, I’m just bored because I don’t know what to do. That’s why I want to have children.”
“Please, understand.”
“I understand.” She move her chair and stood up then left. “You might be late for work.”
“Yara!” She slammed the door in our room when she goes inside. I just shook my head and let her. She will be ok later too.
THIS PAST few days I noticed that Yara is always irritable. It’s not that I am complaining but sometimes it’s annoying so I didn’t talk to her either. We didn’t miss our sex life and we got along but when it comes to other things, both of us are silent.
I go home early because the group talked about having dinner and bringing the partners. When I entered I noticed she was not in the living room. The kitchen is clean but I noticed the bowl on the table. My forehead furrowed and came closer to the table. I open the bowl and wonder why the food is still there. Yara doesn’t know how to cook, so before I left the morning I cook her lunch and keep it on the table. She’ll just heat it up when she’s ready to eat. I go inside the room and caught her in the bed laying.
“Hi,” I kissed her on the neck. “Didn’t you eat lunch?”
“I have no appetite.”
“Change your dress, we’ll go outside, Phoenix invited us with the group to the mansion for dinner.”
“I don’t want to go out.”
“Yara, please. Is there any problem, baby?”
“Just don’t want to come, there is a problem right away? Fine. I’ll get dressed.”
“It’s ok, don’t come if you don’t want to. I’ll explain to them that you’re not feeling well.”
“I already said that I will come isn’t it?” I didn’t answer when she got dressed. I was just shaking and even though I am annoyed I didn’t speak.
While on the road we no longer talk. I don’t want to make our problem worse. When we reached the mansion we were the only ones there. Just a few minutes later Dane arrived.
Phoenix said that Jace and Margot were late. Blaze and Maggie’s car was damaged on the road but the vehicle was being repaired. We were on the veranda where Don Alejandro used to sit. Yara and I seat side by side opposite Phoenix and Hailey. To my right was Dane sitting alone. We drank tea first while waiting for the four.
“You just don’t have a partner, Dane, when are you going to find one?” Hailey asked.
“When Zeus and Yara are married.” Dane laughed as we accompanied her. Yara rolls her eyes and I know that didn’t escape their sight also.
“We can go, if you’re not comfortable,” I whisper while smiling so they won’t notice.
“Yara, are you ok?” Dane asked her.
“Can I ask you a question, Dane?” my forehead furrowed because of what she said.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“Sure, spill it.”
“Do you like, Zeus?”
“What?” Dane looked at me.
“Yara,” my simple rebuke.
“I ask of you, Dane, if you like Zeus, as a man, not as a friend.”
“Yara, is there a problem?” Hailey asked.
“No, nothing, I just want to know.”
“Of course not, he’s like a brother to me,” Dane answered.
“Ah, cause Zeus is still hoping to be with you.” I heard Phoenix whistle and her eyes widened so Yara’s gaze focused on her. “Aren’t you aware that Zeus’ first crush is you — Dane?” And she looked back at Dane.
“Yara, what’s wrong with you?” I asked annoyed but I tried to calm down.
“Why don’t your friends and Dane know you like her?”
“Stop it, Yara, you’re getting attention,” I said.
“Yara, you misunderstood everything. There is nothing between me and Zeus.”
“No, I’m not Dane. Zeus still hoping that she has a chance on you.”
“I said stop!” My voice is getting a little louder.
“Relax, Zeus,” Phoenix gets up and comes to me.
“I’m just helping you, Zeus, to tell Dane what you can’t say.”
“You don’t know what you’re talking about.” I am really annoyed.
“I know what I’m saying. You’re not ready to have a baby with me because you’re still hoping for Dane.” I just sighed in annoyance.
“Let’s go home.” I stood up and held her hand.
“Ouch, you’re hurting me, Zeus.”
“Let’s go home!”
“Zeus, don’t shout at her,” Hailey said calmly.
“Zeus, talk to each other properly. It’s just misunderstanding,” Dane said but I did not talk and take her hand.
But she did not come with me. Instead, she faces Dane.
“No, it’s not Dane. Before Zeus flirted with me then, she confessed that he had a crush on you. But she can’t say because he doesn’t want to ruin your friendship. That is why I am asking you if do like him, because if yes, I will release him.”
“Stop making a scene, Yara.” She still wouldn’t stop no matter how much I reprimanded her.
“I understand your jealousy, but believe me, Zeus loves you. If you don’t feel that, we all know that.”
“His actions speak otherwise.” Then she stood up and turned around then walked away.
“Follow her, don’t fight, just calm down,” Phoenix reminded.
“I’m sorry guys, Hailey, I am sorry.”
“It’s okay, I understand.”
“Thank you.” I followed her who had already entered the car.
I slammed the car door shut. I looked at her staring outside. I wanted to talk to her but I just chose to keep quiet first and we might even have an accident if we fight on the road.
Yes, I crushed Dane when I was young. Who wouldn’t love a Diana Dane Dy? Beautiful, rich, kind, responsible. But that was before when I was young and before I met Yara.
When I met her my feelings for Dane suddenly disappeared. I can’t even get to my heart that I once liked her. It was like I was suddenly feeling guilty and that had a crush on my sister. Because I suddenly thought of Dane as a sister. When Yara and I broke up I know I can’t find the love same that I feel for her.
When Phoenix got married I told Dane the truth. That I had a crush on her. She just laughed at me and said she didn’t like me. I know that because Dane only loved one man. Wallace —- Dylan’s friend.
Both of us know that we can no longer find love in others as we felt in those we love. So, I offer her a deal that when the three get married and we are single, we will open our hearts to each other.
Date, eat out, watch a movie, do the thing that couple usually did and she agreed. We start to date silently when Jace and Margot got married. But no label. Just date, like a friendly date, but we did not tell them. We were going to let them know but Jace and Margot had a problem.
When the two were ok, Yara showed up at BCC. Everything went changed and I suddenly forgot Dane and the deal we had. Nothing seemed to happen between the two of us. So we just decided that we wouldn’t let them know regarding our deal and it’s totally didn’t seem to have any destination. Because when we were still hiding we had nothing to talk about but Dane’s secret love for Wallace and my love for Yara back then.
“What’s your problem?”
“You-you’re my problem!” she shouted when we entered the condo.
“Are you jealous of Dane? My god, Yara, your brain is narrow. Do you think I’ll let you be my girlfriend if I still like Dane?”
“Yes, to used me.”
“What the heck are you saying? What’s your problem? You’ve been like that for a few days. I’m just letting you act like that but you’re over. Your issue is so pointless.”
“Yeah, there’s no point, drama, overacting. Zeus, all I want to know is why — why don’t you want to have children?”
“I didn’t say I didn’t want to, I just wasn’t ready. Is that hard to understand?”
“Yes, it’s hard, because we’re already together. So, what’s this game, like that, and when you get bored, it’s over? Because that’s really the reason for it in the beginning? I’m just asking for a child, not a marriage but you can’t let me.”
“Fuck! As easy as that! You can’t even cook on your own, and you wanted a child?!” She became silent because of what I said. I don’t want to be mean. But it’s too much, it’s annoying to listen to. Just over and over.
“Is that why you don’t want me to be the mother of your child and you prefer Dane because she’s better at cooking?!” I just wiped my face. Why is she inclined to include Dane here? she didn’t do anything to her. “So you prefer her because she’s responsible, and I’m not? Is that it, Zeus ?!”
I sighed and calmed myself.
“You know what, Yara, I am so fucking tired. Your possessiveness is exhausting that you’re not thinking properly. Maybe it’s better that we don’t get together first. Go back to Luxury first so that your brain can clear up. You weren’t like that before.”
“Are you saying we’re going to split up?” I did not answer. If that’s what she understands, she’ll take care of it. “Answer me!”
“Go back to Luxury, it’s yours and I bought it for you.”
“Are you breaking up with me again?! Did you kick me because we’re separated?”
“If that’s what you understand. Take all your belongings and go back to Luxury.”
“Why? Do you think I’m just chasing you for money? That’s why I’m like this because I’m afraid of losing something to lean on, is that what you’re thinking?”
“The more you say, the more those are running through your mind.”
“Tell me, Zeus, why are you breaking up with me?” I closed my eyes tightly and sighed before opening my eyes.
“For you to be free and so am I. For you to do whatever you want.” I saw her tears fall.
“Why every time I need you, you suddenly disappear and leave me in the air? Why don’t you understand what I want to convey to you? Why is it so easy for you to let me go if we have a problem? Why? we fix it first before you decide? Why do you always pay attention to your side? Why?!”
I kept looking at her as she continued to cry. I wanted to comfort her but I chose to let her go.
“You think I can’t let go of you, Zeus? I can, and you’ll regret what you did to me today. I’ll prove to you that I won’t regret this and I can afford to change you right away. You’re not the only man, Zeus, I can find better than you.” She hit me and then left the condo without taking anything but only her bag.
