My mouth was dry while we drove to the hospital with my mate sitting beside me. She said nothing, silent. beside me. Many thoughts went through my head but none of them stayed long enough for me to hold on
1. to.
“This is ridiculous,” I cussed in the silent car.
“What?” My mate’s gaze cut to me almost in an instant
“Nothing.” The words slipped from my lips and when she frowned, I knew it wasn’t the right thing to say. “I’m nervous for no reason,” I blurted out, focusing on the road.
“Oh,” she muttered. “What can I do to help?” Her sweet voice made me smile.
“You don’t have to do anything. I’ll be fine.” I’d be fine if I could silence the voices in my head.
I’d never felt this way before and I couldn’t understand it. The voices in my head were urging me to react in a familiar way. To lash out at something, at someone but I wouldn’t be Cahir Armani if I let the feral voices in my head control me.
As I strengthened my mental fortitude against my inner demons, I felt a dainty hand on my thigh. I spared a quick glance at my thigh to see my mate’s hand. She looked out the window away from
me but I could see the tip of her ear turn pink. NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
That was enough of a distraction against the anxiety tightening my chest. Unfortunately, it gave my body other ideas.
‘She’s really warm,‘ Perseus whispered with a sigh.
Rather than focus on the tingling in my gut, I focused on getting my body to calm down as I became hyperaware of my mate beside me and her warm hand on my leg. We got to the hospital while I tried to get my body to behave.
“Ah, Alpha, you’re here today,” the doctor greeted with warm smile. He was an older man that I’d never seen. Well, I’d never visited the maternal and childcare hospital before so it wasn’t unexpected that I didn’t know th doctors here.
“How are you feeling, Luna?” The man continued to chatter. “And our next alpha?” He asked my mate.
Our next Alpha. This child would be the continuation of a lineage I wanted to end with me. The demons, whispered more atrocious things to me.
“There’s a little bump now,” my mate said to the doctoras she raised her shirt. Her excitement made me excited
Of course. Soon, there will be more than a bump,” the doctor said with an unfading smile. “Your baby has a heartbeat now and is devolving facial features at this point.” The doctor talked nonstop. It was as if he felt if he stopped talking, something bad would happen.
“Can we know the gender today?” I asked as he asked about Sia’s symptoms for the third time.

mate were like two friends sharing a special time as they kept smiling and talking.
“I feel so much better this week. Still like shit, but you know- not as bad as last week,” Sia informed the doctor.
The goddess is kind to you,” the doctor said. “Do you feel more or less fatigued?”
“About the same,” Sia answered.
He asked more questions and then offered an early ultrasound.
“So far, everything is good and normal. Have you registered for antenatal care?” He asked.
“I’ll do that before we leave,” my mate answered.
“Ah. registrations were yesterday but you’re the Luna so I’m sure we can make special arrangements for you. He laughed. My mate gave a weak laugh this time I didn’t need to smile and laugh along with this man but I found it tedious to put up with his smiles so the goddess only knew how she felt.
After that, we left the room to ask if we could register for antenatal care. While she filled out the form for registration, I went through the conversation with the doctor. He asked a lot of questions and I only knew the answers to a handful of them. She’d done some research, enough to know what to expect during the first ultrasound but I didn’t even know what that was.
“Cahir?” Her worried face entered my line of vision. “I’m done. We can go now,” she said.
Fuck, I’d spaced out.
“Are you okay?” She asked.
“Yeah,” I answered as we went back to the car.
Throughout the ride back, all I thought of was how out of the loop I was with what was happening with my mate and child. I hated she was experiencing things I knew nothing about.
I dropped her off at home with a kiss and proceeded to work. The first thing I did when I got into my seat was to start the research on everything and anything pregnancy.
“There’s a lot,” I muttered as I read the first page, a website called first time mummy. From there on, 1 opened twenty–five more pages and had over ten sites opened at the same time.
Hours later, my head hurt from all the information I gathered, half of which I didn’t fully understand. Reading about babies, I stumbled upon a website that reminded me that I had to name the said baby.
“I have to pick out a name,” I muttered to myself. “Or is it too early?” Naming a child seemed like something that would take a long time so wasn’t it better to start now? “What if Sia already has a name in mind?” I called her to make sure.
“Cahir, where are you?” She sounded pissed when she picked up. I looked at the clock. It was just past eight.
“I’m at work. Do you need something?” I’d lost track of time but eight wasn’t too late, was it?
“I–I miss you,” she mumbled then I heard a sniff that had me sitting up straight. “What are you working on this late?” I checked the time again to make sure the clock hadn’t stopped working.

“I’ve been looking up baby names and I lost track of time. I’ll be back in thirty minutes.” My eyes hurt from staring at a screen without a break for hours on end. “Do you have a name in mind?”
“A–Name?” Her question made it clear she didn’t. “I haven’t thought about that yet. Do you have a name yet?”
“I’ve got a few. We’ll discuss that when I get home.” I go out of my seat and donned my jacket. “I love you, b- I was about to tell her goodnight when my office door creaked open. A redhead poked into the room. eyes roamed about and then stiffened when they fell on me.
