Chapter 9
MAX POV
I hurriedly reached the place where Erica was. From afar, I saw her. She sat on the corner of street, shivering. I ran and as I came closer to her, I found her struggling for breath. Her hands were shivering and tears were streaming down her face. My heart stopped for a second watching her in this condition. At first I didn’t knew what to do. It was like a train was coming to me and I was scared to what to do or not. I stood there like a statue watching her in pain. Vehicles were passing by like a storm and yet I had no idea what to do.
Closing my eyes, I inhaled a deep breath and looked around. Okay, I need to calm her down. Think what you used to do when your sister, Zara had panic attacks. I thought to myself and suddenly it became harder.
Zara.
I remember her having panic attacks when she was pregnant. How hard it was for her to survive it. She struggled just like Erica.
I used to hug her to ease her pain.
Wait.
I blinked and quickly sat beside her on the floor. Ruffling my fingers through her hair, I made her look at me.
“Shh. It’s okay. It’s okay Erica.” I told her.
“Breathe.” I added.
She looked up at me innocently and hiccuped. “I-I… c-can’t breathe.”
I know Erica. I know.
Without thinking twice I hugged her tightly into my arms. Her fragrance entered through my nostrils and everything stilled. The vehicle on the road no longer mattered. The paparazzi clicking pictures of us didn’t matter. Nothing mattered at all. In this moment all that I care about is to calm her down.
“Count with me.” I told her, rubbing her back.
“10. 9. 8. 7…”
She repeated after me and after a minute or so, her breathe started becoming normal.
After few minutes being still with her, I realized that I’ve never experienced this kind of comfort. I always say that sex is cool, it comforts me but fuck I was wrong. This is comfort. Her arms are comfort.
“Thankyou.” She whispered into my ears.
And damn! That’s when I realized my situation. I was on the middle to the road, hugging her. People are gathered around us, some wishpering, some clicking pictures and oh then there was media all around me.
Fuck me!
I quickly stood up and trust me it took me everything in me to get apart from her because all I wanted was to be in her arms forever.
What’s happening to me? What this woman is doing to me?
Inhaling a deep breath, I took her in my arms and after my bodyguards cleared the path from people, I went straight to my SUV.
“Make yourself comfortable.” I told her once I made her seated inside the car.
She flushed but didn’t say anything. I wonder why isn’t she being stubborn or screaming at me? Is it because I saved her from her chaos?
Yeah right! And now you became her knight in shining armour. My inner consciousness mocked me.
Rolling my eyes, I started the engine. She looked out of the window still being in flushing state.
Okay.
“Are you okay, now?” I asked.
She simply nodded her head.
“I wanted to ask you something.” I said.
“Ask.”
“You’ve a brother, don’t you?”
She looked at me in shock. “How do you know that?”
I smiled.
What does she think I am? Off course I have bodyguards and I can easily do a background check on anyone. I am a billionaire for God’s sake.
“Will you let me meet him?” I asked, further.
“Off course not!” She hissed.
Ah my feisty queen is back.
My? Shut up Max. Just fucking shut up.
“Stop the car.” She said.
And I simply ignored her.
“Just stop the fucking car, Max costello.” She screamed.
I enjoyed her reaction and continued to drive to her home. She made a face and turned it away from me.
I laughed, pulling her cheeks out. “Awe.”
She was about to threaten me but before that could happen we reached her house. She quickly get out of the car and ran to her door. I looked at her in confusion but didn’t get anything.
Soon she started tapping on the door and then I realized what she was upto. She didn’t want me to meet her little brother.
I get out of the car and ran too. She was about to lock the door from inside before I entered.
“Fuck you!” She cursed under her breath.
“You shouldn’t cuss Infront of children, Erica.” I told her while looking at her brother who was now gawking at me as if he has seen some God.
Frankly it boosted my ego and somehow it made me happy. Atleast someone is here who knows the worth of Max Costello.
Smirking I sat on the couch and looked around. “Hey Alex.”
“Y-You know my name?” He whispered in shock.
I nodded. “Didn’t Erica told you about me?” I asked.
He shook his head.
Ah! This woman.
“I am Max.” I smiled.
He smiled back but still in surprise. “I know who you’re. Everybody knows who you’re. Even this idiot Erica knows who you’re.”
And that boosted my ego.
Idiot Erica!
I smiled.
“Nice to meet you Alex. By the way did you know that I am good friend of Erica?” I asked to irritate her.
And it did the work. She was now fuming in anger.
“Alex go to your room, right now.”All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
He made a face but after smiling to me he rushed to the room.
“And now you get out of the room before I kick you out.” She screamed.
I stilled, looking at her.
What the fuck?
Here I am trying to talk nicely to her. I helped her when she got panic attack and here she’s asking me to get out of her house. What does she thinks of her? I agree that she’s in pain but that doesn’t mean she has to be behave like this.
I clenched my fist. No one can talk to me like this.
Cornering her to the wall, I held her wrist and pulled her closer to me. She collided to my chest and gasped in shock. “Wha-?”
“Your brother has cancer, don’t he?” I asked.
Her eyes widened in shock and in seconds her anger bubbled up in air. She frowned and trust me it hurts a little to watch her like this.
“I can pay for your brother’s surgery.” I told her.
She raised her eyebrows and looked at me in surprise. “Really?”
Yes, I know that her brother has cancer. I know everything about her.
“But for that you’ve to marry me.”
