Chapter 141
Chapter 141
Christiana’s POV.
I leaned back in my office chair, twirling the delicate gold pen in my hand as the phone pressed against my ear. Alex’s deep, velvety voice filled the room, wrapping me in a comforting warmth 1 hadn’t realized I craved until recently. Things felt normal again.etfortless, as though the last week of tension had never existed,
“So, you’re saying you handled the board meeting without snapping at anyone?” I teased, a smile tugging at the comers of my lips.
“Miraculously, yes,” Alex chuckled, his rich baritone vibrating through the line. “Though James nearly tested my patience when he..”
“Ma’am?” Grace’s voice interrupted softly from the door as she pecked in. She held a folder in one hand and her tablet in the other, her efficient demeanor firm.
I raised a finger, signaling for her to wait, as I focused back on Alex. “James again, huh? You should just promote him to Head Annoyer Copyright by Nôv/elDrama.Org.
Alex laughed, and I could imagine him shaking his head. “Tempting Very tempting. What about you? How’s the queen of jewelry and accessories faring today?”
I glanced at the reports Grace had placed on my desk earlier, detailing our latest line’s performance. “Queen? A bit much, don’t you think?”
“Not at all,” Alex said firmly. “You own half the market in your industry, Christiana. Own it.”
His words warmed me, though I masked it with a playful scoff, “Well, my empire is thriving, thank you for asking. Grace will make sure of it even if I collapse from exhaustion”
Grace smirked as the scribbled something onto her tablet
“Good. I need my queen in perfect health,” Alex replied, his tone dropping slightly, carrying that magnetic charm I could never resist.
I rolled my eyes but smiled, leaning my head against the backrest. “Your queen is fine. Now tell me about Sebastian. How’s he settling into this whole. billionaire’s club?”
There was a brief pause before Alex sighed. “Honestly, he’s still adjusting Growing up with nothing and then being thrown into this world.it’s overwhelming for him.”
I could hear the pride in Alex’s voice, though he tried to mask it.
“Is he handling it okay?” I asked softly.
“He is. But sometimes I catch him staring at things like he’s expecting it all to vanish. It’s surreal for him” Alex admitted, his tone growing thoughtful.
A pang of envy struck me unexpectedly. I envied Alex for having someone like Sebastian, a brother he could bond with. Growing up, I always wanted that a sibling to share secrets, dreams, and burdens with. But I pushed the thought aside, focusing on the joy in Alex’s voice.
“That’s good, though,” I said, smiling as I rested my chin in my palm. “I mean, surreal or not, it sounds like he’s finding his place.”
“He is. Slowly
sly but surely.”
I hesitated, fiddling with the pen in my hand. “You’re lucky, you know. Having a brother,”
Alex’s voice softened, “You’re jealous.”
“Maybe a little,” I admitted, laughing lightly. “It’s nice, though. I’m happy for you both.”
There was a pause on his end before he said, “Why don’t you meet him tonight?”
1 blinked. “What?”
“You, ie, and Sebastian. Dinner tonight, Alex said, his voice laced with enthusiasm. “It’s about time you two met
“Oh, I don’t know.” I glanced at Grace, who raised a questioning brow. “Won’t that be awkward?”
“Not at all. Sebastian’s eager to meet you. I’ve told him enough about you already,” Alex replied smoothly.
“Should I he worried about what you’ve told him?” I teased, leaning forward.
“Not unless y
you’re hiding some deep, dark secret from me.” he countered, his tone playful.
I laughed, the sound light and genuine. “Tine Dinner it is. But if it gris weird, I’m blaming you.”

“Tl take full responsibility,” Alex said, his grin audible through the phone.
“Alright, I need to go,” I said reluctantly. “Grace is staring at me like I’m holding up the world’s progress”
“You probably are.” Alex quipped.
“See you tonight,” I said, ignoring his comment.
“See you tonight, Christiana,” he replied, his voice warm and inviting before the call ended.
1 placed my phone down, glancing at Grace. “Cancel any late meetings tonight. I have dinner plans.”
“With Mr. Alistair!” she asked knowingly.
“Yes,” I said, unable to hide my smile.
Grace smirked as she turned back to her tablet. “Noted.”
As I went back to reviewing reports, a sense of anticipation filled me. Meeting Sebastian felt like stepping into another part of Alex’s world.one I wasn’t sure I belonged in but was eager to explore nonetheless. Tonight would be interesting, to say the least.
I was halfway through reviewing the profit margins of our latest diamond collection when there was a sudden knock on the door. I glanced up. frowning slightly.
“Come in.” I called, expecting Grace to bring another stack of files or remind me of something I’d forgotten.
Sure enough, Grace stepped in, her tablet tucked under her arm, but there was something different about her expression. She looked… intrigued.
“Ma’am,” she began, clearing her throat, “you have a guest”
I raised a brow, setting my pen down. “A quest? Grace. I thought I made it clear no meetings today”
“I know, and I already informed him of your schedule, Grace replied quickly, stepping closer to my desk. “But this might be worth reconsidering.”
my head. “Who is it?”
I tilted my
She adjusted her glasses and glanced at her tablet. “A Mr. B. He owns a fast–rising tech company called Nexus Innovations.”
“Nexus Innovations?” The name was vaquely familiar.
Grace nodded, her tone growing more persuasive. “They’ve been making headlines recently for their groundbreaking Al–driven designs. Their stock has tripled in value within the last two months. They’re already being approached by major investors, and from what I’ve gathered, they’re poised to dominate their industry.”
I leaned back in my chair, skepticism creeping in. “Grace, you know I don’t usually entertain surprise visits, especially from people I’ve never worked with
“I understand,” she said, her voice calm but insistent. “But this could be a significant opportunity. He said he has an offer for you, and he seemed… confident. Here, take a look.”
Grace slid her tablet across the desk, and I glanced down at the screen. The article headline read, “Nexus Innovations: The Startup Disrupting the Tech World” Beneath it was a detailed report about their explosive growth, complete with graphs and projections that caught my attention.
I pursed my lips, scrolling through the data. “How confident did he seem!”
Grace smiled knowingly. “Very. The kind of confidence you like to see in a potential partner?”
I considered this for a moment. There was no harm in hearing him out, and d if Grace was impressed, it meant he wasn’t just some ambitious startup founder wasting my time.
“Alright,” I said, handing the tablet back to her. “Let him in”
Grace nodded and exited, leaving the door slightly ajar. I sat up straighter, smoothing out the fabric of my blazer as I prepared myself
– Moments later, the door opened again, and a man stepped inside. The air shifted immediately, a quiet intensity filling the room.
I froze.
“Christiana,” he said, his voice smooth, familiar, and charged with something unspoken.
It was Daniel Brooks.
He stood there, neatly dressed in an expensive sult, the sharp lines and expensive fabric making him look every bit the billionaire…Wait, was this

I couldn’t believe it
His hair was styled neatly, his jawline sharper than I remembered, and his dark eyes locked onto mine with a mix of confidence and something else determination

Toom…
For a moment, the world seemed to stop. My heart thudded loudly in my chest, the reality of his presence hitting me like a tidal wave. What was he doing here!
Grace, oblivious to the tension, gestured toward him. “Ma’am, this is Mr. Brooks. He requested to see you personally.”
Thank you, Grace. I managed, my voice tight. “I’ll take it from here.”
Grace nodded and exited the room, leaving me alone with Daniel.
He didn’t sit. He didn’t speak immediately. He just stood there, watching me as though he had all the time
in the world, while I struggled to make sense of his sudden appearance.
Whatever he wanted, I could feel it in the air it was going to be big.
