CEO's Tears Over Pregnancy Test Discovery

Chapter 1288

Hope quickly stashed the bottle back in her bag and settled on the floor, trying to look casual.

"Hope, what were you doing?" Orion asked as he came over, ready to play.

Hope, still just a six-year-old, wasn't exactly skilled at hiding her emotions. She avoided looking him in the eye, turning her head away. "Nothing. I'm just a little sleepy and thought I'd rest," she mumbled, closing her eyes. Orion shrugged, sitting beside her. "Okay, go ahead and nap. Where's Mrs. Watson?"

"She went to get some dessert. I was hungry," Hope replied, pulling a blanket over her face.

Orion adored his little sister. If he ever found out that Hope had done something to hurt her, he would never speak to her again. But she felt like she had no choice. If she didn't do this, she might never see her own family again. After all, she hadn't done anything to hurt Orion's parents, and she hadn't harmed him either. As for his sister, she was just a baby, too young to even talk yet. Besides, if something happened, they could always have another child. A few minutes later, Mrs. Watson returned with freshly baked custard tarts.

"Hope's asleep, so just leave them here for now. She can have one when she wakes up," Orion whispered, not wanting to disturb her. Mrs. Watson nodded and set the plate down. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

For the next few hours, Orion was engrossed in his book, while Hope, initially pretending to sleep, eventually drifted off for real.

By late afternoon, Mrs. Watson

noticed that Gemma hadn't woken

up all day, which seemed t She walked over to check on her, and a shocked gasp escaped her lips. Oh no! She's burning up

Orion looked up, alarmed. "What's wrong with my sister?"

He was on the verge of panic. He couldn't care less that Hope was still asleep nearby. All he wanted was to check on his sister.

Mrs. Watson was already on her feet. "Stay here for a moment, Orion. I need to get Mr. and Mrs. York right away," Mrs. Watson said, quickly setting him aside.

If it had been Orion with the fever, it would have been manageable, but for Gemma, so small and fragile, a high fever could be incredibly dangerous. Even a slight oversight could turn fatal.

Just then, the commotion caught

the attention of Nash and Nina, who

rushed downstairs in a hurry. Nash

grabbed the car keys and to

the garage while Nina went straight to Ms. Watson, taking the baby from her arms.

"When did Gemma start running a fever?" she asked, her voice laced with worry.

"I only just realized it. She was unusually quiet all afternoon, not waking up to eat or anything," Mrs, Watson Replied, flustered. "When felt her forehead, it was burning hot." She berated herself internally for not checking on the baby sooner.

Nina barely heard the words as she prepared to rush out the door. "Take care of Orion and Hope," she called over her shoulder as she left, clutching her daughter and hurrying to the car.

The commotion stirred Hope from her nap. She watched Nina's retreating figure, a flicker of guilt crossing her face.

But she quickly reassured herself. The bottle of medicine was well-hidden in her bag. No one would ever find out it was her doing. She wasn't about to lose her place here.
