Chapter 20: Second Choice
Chapter 20: Second Choice
"Benny you might as well do it." Logan sighed as he stretched out on his seat. "You have no time, the
bonfire is tomorrow night."
"I really can't you guys." Benny shook his head no as he crinkled his face at us. "His ass is going to say
no. You guys don't understand, he's so different from me!"
I remained quiet, catching myself unconsciously look at Jesse from my table.
Logan gently landed his hands onto Benny's, making him slightly flinch back as Logan's voice began to
speak softly to him. "Sometimes in life, you can't always depend on other people to read your mind and
do what you want them to do. Sometimes, you're the one that has to put in the work."
"You're right." Benny surrendered.
Benny took a moment to himself as Logan and I glanced at each other in confusion as to what Benny
wanted to do. "You know what. Y'all right. That made me understand that I'm not the type of person
willing to put in work, and to me, that's okay. Fuck the bonfire, I'm not going. I don't need a man." My
mouth dropped at Benny as he crossed his arms at us.
"Damn." Logan stared at Benny completely awed. "Even with being best friends with you for the past 5
years, you still manage to surprise me."
The second our table became quiet, a deep and charmingly masculine voice quickly caught all of our
attention, making us look at whom the voice belonged to.
"Aye, you new right?" The gorgeously looking boy asked me, Benny letting out a loud gasp to himself.
"M-me?" I wanted to make sure he was talking to me as I stuttered before him.
"Yea you. I'm Miles." He nodded as he returned his firm hand shake. "We don't know each other but
you seem chill. You down to go the bonfire with me tomorrow night?" His smirk was widened enough
for me to see his perfectly white teeth.
I watched Benny blink a couple of times in subtle despair as he laid his head against his hand.
Logan's cheeks were undeniably reddened as he stared at me in curiosity of my reply. "I-uh, well I'm
already going with Logan." My eyes turned towards Logan as Miles seemed okay by it. "But you can
bring Benny." I smiled, shocked to see Benny's facial expression not even change.
Miles tall figure stood behind Benny as he looked down at him, Benny's face looked completely
unimpressed as Miles talked again. "Well I'm down to go with you if you are." Miles kept his smirk.
"No." Benny shook his head, not even bothering to look at him. "Now if you aren't aware, we're eating,
so get the fuck away from our table." Logan and I immediately dropped our jaws to the ground.
"Damn, well my bad." Miles surrendered as he threw his arms up into the air, widening his eyes at NôvelDrama.Org © 2024.
Benny lashing out at him.
Our table was filled with a wave of awkwardness after that, only being filled with the sounds of Benny
drinking out of his cup.
Logan anxiously chirped as he still looked shock at Benny's response at Miles. "Benny, what was that
for?"
I couldn't help but speak out also since I was genuinely confused. "I was trying to help you, how come
you just shut him o-" Benny's raised voice quickly interrupted me.
"Well it didn't work." He sassily replied. "You were his first choice in asking to the bonfire and you said
no. You turning him to ask me just felt like a chore for him and that's complete bullshit to me. It's
whatever, I'm not gonna be a second choice." He shrugged as he sounded completely irritated.
All I was trying to do was help..
I remained quiet with Logan, scared to annoy Benny even further.
"Maybe you're just on your man period." Logan casually laughed as Benny rolled his eyes at him.
Benny rapidly snapped back. "Or maybe I'm just fucking bothered at the fact that the popular type for
every boy in this camp seems to be just super basic, shallow ken dolls with not a single ounce of
uniqueness or personality!" And with that, he proceeded to walk away from the table with his fists
tightly clenched.
Wow, that actually quite hurt me a lot..
