Chapter 7: The Day on Which Lawrence Needed the Blood

Time seemed to stop instantly. Charlotte had nowhere to go and her heart leapt when she met that pair

of cold and bloodthirsty eyes. The rim of her eyes went red at once. “I…” She opened her mouth but Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

could not even call out his name.

The man fixed his eyes on her face and his eyes were brimming with emotions. The rage in his eyes

made him looked like he was going to eat her alive. He called out her name with his teeth gritted.

“Charlotte, Garcia! I can’t believe it’s you!” The crispy sound of something broken was heard the next

second. Her shoulder seemed to be broken and she yelled in pain.

She was tossed hard onto the ground and intense pain was felt all over her body. “Daddy…” Hearing

his daughter’s voice, Lawrence regained his mind at once. He turned around and squatted, carrying

Emma up and consoled her calmly. “Don’t worry Emma, daddy’s here.”

Everything that happened before her, even the little girl’s cry and tears had made her appeared to be

the one that should be blamed, as if she was the culprit that wanted to take Lawrence’s child away.

Charlotte’s heart ached as if being sliced. She gritted her teeth and staggered to her feet. “Lawrence, I

didn’t do anything, you have to believe me. The little girl’s knocked down and someone wanted to take

her away, it’s not me!”

The little girl was still crying. A child who was only four or five years old could not tell any truth.

Lawrence carried Emma and stood up with a frightening look. He shot a cold glare towards Charlotte

but he was talking to the person next to him. “Take her inside. I have something to tell her in person.”

Charlotte watched him left with determination and instantly collapsed onto the ground. He did not

believe her.

Charlotte was held by two lofty men all the way into a room and she was pushed onto the floor. She

could still vaguely hear Emma’s intermittent cries from the corridor outside. It was rare to see Lawrence

being gentle. He was hugging her while talking to her softly. “Don’t cry, Emma, daddy will not let

anyone bully you. Daddy will not let those who try to harm you off.” As he spoke, he looked up and

glanced at the room with its door closed. The coldness in his eyes grew.

Emma had been crying for too long and it was hard to make her stop weeping. The little girl only

remembered that her Uncle Jeffrey was going out to work and she was left in the office to play. She

sneaked out of the office yet she ended up getting lost. She met three bad guys on the way who

wanted to take her away and she could not recall what happened after that. She could only recall

seeing a strange woman’s face the moment she woke up.

“Daddy…” As Emma wanted to tell her father the whole truth and looked up, she suddenly widened her

eyes and stared at half of Lawrence’s face. She blurted out, “Daddy, what happen to your face?”

Lawrence frowned and the expression of Jeffrey who was next to him changed. He immediately came

forward. “Mr. Harris, today’s fifteenth!” It was the day which Lawrence needed the blood!
