Nelson sat alone in his office, sipping on a glass of water. The room was quiet until he decided to check his pack’s group chat. As he scrolled through the frenzy of messages, he couldn’t help but wonder what all the commotion was about.
Suddenly, he tapped on a photo and the water in his mouth went flying. His eyes widened in shock.
“What the hell is going on?” He growled, his werewolf instincts surging to the surface. “Alpha Kilian holding Nelly’s hand? And they look damn intimate too. How the hell do they know each other? Did my advice mean nothing to them?”
Confusion and questions consumed Nelson’s mind. The project they had been working on suddenly became an afterthought. His supernatural instincts told him that there was definitely something more going on between the two of them.
Anxiety began to gnaw at Nelson. If Nelly was successful in whatever she was doing with Alpha Kilian, that was one thing. But if she failed, their pack would have stepped on the toes of a very powerful supernatural being.
Meanwhile, in the Programming Department, the hopes and dreams of many young wolves were crushed. It seemed that only the rich had a chance with beautiful creatures like Nelly.
No one knew for sure what was happening, but it was clear to see that there was some history between Nelly and Alpha Kilian.
When Nelly returned, she was immediately bombarded by questions from the girls at the reception. “Ms. Jackson, what’s the deal with you and Alpha Kilian? Are you two dating?” they asked, their eyes never leaving her.
Annoyance creased Nelly’s brow. Word traveled fast in the supernatural world.
“There is no relationship, I swear,” she denied vehemently.
“But everyone saw Alpha Kilian holding your hand… you can’t deny it,” one of the girls persisted, staring at Nelly intently.
Nelly took a moment to compose herself before answering with a sly smile. “How is that even possible? It was a simple misunderstanding. Alpha Kilian mistook me for a friend of his.”
“Really?” they questioned.
Nelly nodded with conviction. “Absolutely true.”
Before the girls could respond, Nelly hastily made her way back to the Programming Department.
Ugh, one thing I hate about this place is how nosy everyone is, she thought to herself.
But as Nelly walked into the Design Department, she was met with strange looks from everyone. Confusion clouded her mind as Chris’s voice pierced through the tension. “Nelly, are you responsible for what happened?” he demanded, storming towards her as if ready to start an argument.
Taken aback, Nelly’s colleagues quickly intervened. “Chris, settle down. Don’t do anything rash,” they cautioned.
Nelly stared at Chris calmly, refusing to show any fear. “I don’t know if I have anything to do with the decision, but I can assure you that I have done nothing wrong. Before you start accusing me, maybe you should reflect on whether you have actually done a good job with your project,” she shot back.
Chris sneered, his wolfish nature taking over. “Are you insinuating that I’m incompetent?”
“Yes,” Nelly asserted boldly.
“What do you know?” Chris shouted, his temper flaring. “We’ve spent an entire week on the project, customizing it according to Alpha Kilian Corporation’s requirements. I won’t claim it’s perfect, but we are definitely the best among all the other companies. What does a woman like you know?”
Nelly’s words struck a nerve in Chris, leaving him momentarily stunned. But before he had a chance to respond, someone approached them. “Ms. Jackson, Mr. Yondel wants to see you,” they interrupted.
Nelly nodded, acknowledging the message, and turned to leave without uttering another word.
As she walked away, Ross and Tommy tried to console Chris, assuring him that Alpha Kilian Corporation couldn’t have based their decision on a woman.
Meanwhile, back in Nelson’s office, Nelly had to explain the situation yet again, this time to Nelson himself. Despite her explanation, he remained skeptical, his years of experience making him doubtful.
As Nelly left Nelson’s office, she let out a resigned sigh. Having a normal job was proving to be more challenging than she had anticipated. It seemed like there would always be drama whenever Alpha Kilian was involved.
Just then, her phone rang, bringing a slight boost to her mood. Donna’s name appeared on the screen, and Nelly couldn’t help but smile.
“Is school over?” she answered.
“Yes, Mommy. When will you be done with work? What time can we go grocery shopping with Gramps?” Donna asked sweetly.
Nelly glanced at the time. “Soon, in about half an hour.”
“How was your day at work? Any potential suitors?” Donna inquired mischievously.
Suitors? I think everyone is actively avoiding me, Nelly thought.
“You’re imagining things. Everyone is keeping their distance,” Nelly replied, amusement lacing her words.
“I don’t believe you. You had so many admirers when we were overseas,” Donna persisted.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
“Maybe the locals have different tastes?” Nelly quipped.
“Okay, enough chit-chat. What do you want from the grocery store?” Tony chimed in.
“Anything is fine. I might be home late though,” Nelly added.
“Why?” Donna asked.
“I’m visiting a friend,” Nelly vaguely responded. “Probably for about an hour.”
“Alright, I’ll let Gramps know,” Donna said.
“Mmm-hmm.”
“That’s all, Mommy. Bye-bye.”
“Bye.”
Hearing Donna’s voice on the phone, Nelly felt a renewed sense of happiness. At the end of the day, her children could easily lift her spirits.
When Nelly returned to the Programming Department, she noticed that everyone had buried themselves in their work, avoiding any interaction with her. She was aware that many of them resented her or had the wrong impression of her, but she decided to focus on her work and ignore the negativity.
An hour later, Nelly arrived at the hospital. As she approached the reception desk, she asked, “Can you tell me if Celia Dunne is admitted here?”
Coincidentally, she was speaking to Celia’s doctor who nodded in response. “Yes, she is. How can I assist you?”
“I’m a friend of her brother and I’m here to take care of the surgery payment,” Nelly explained.
The doctor’s eyes lit up at her words. “You’re just in time. Any further delay could decrease the chances of success.”
Nelly remained silent as she handed over her card.
“Didn’t her brother say he needed another half a month to gather the funds? How did he manage to expedite the process?” the doctor questioned as he processed the payment.
Nelly shook her head. “I’m not sure.”
The doctor studied Nelly for a moment, sensing her reluctance to engage in conversation. Deciding not to press further, he completed the transaction.
Once the payment was settled, Nelly quickly left before the doctor could say another word. As she walked away, the doctor furrowed his brow, finding her to be a rather peculiar person.
Inside the hospital room, a young girl sat pale and frail, bathed in sunlight as she typed away on her phone, sending a message to someone.
