Chapter 635 Don't Wear It
Chloe went up to get James' cell phone. When she got down, she saw that the nurse was pushing a patient to the operating room with what looked like a smashed head. She didn't take it to heart as long as it wasn't James.
But all she saw at the door when she came downstairs was Maggie and Vicky, who looked depressed.
"Where's James?" Chloe asked anxiously.All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.
"He's gone." Maggie's voice was low.
Beside her, Vicky sneered, "You keep pestering him. He got bored and left. It's all your fault!"
Seeing Maggie cry again made Chloe's head hurt.
"What the hell's going on?"
Chloe thought, "James was just able to get out of the hospital. Why is he gone when I'm only gone for a few minutes?"
"He said he wanted to go to the restroom. We waited for a long time outside the bathroom, and no one came out. We asked the driver to go in and look for him, but no one was inside." Chloe was speechless and tried to pull out her cell phone to check his location, only to react to the fact that his cell phone was in her hand.
She held the phone up to her face, and the screen automatically lit up. Then she saw James' message to her.
[I'll go first. Don't miss me!]
Chloe was furious.
It turned out that James had been planning to run away for a long time. She'd thought he'd settle down after his surgery, so it hadn't occurred to her that he'd left his cell phone behind on purpose. "So what do we do now? James' wounds are just getting a little better. What if he splits his wounds?" Maggie said.
Vicky was too distracted watching Maggie, who only knew how to shed tears.
"Stop crying, okay? What's the use of it? Will he come back?"
Her yelling somehow made Maggie put back those tears.
Chloe looked at the two and thought for a moment.
Then she said, "You both think about where he might be going. I'm going to look for him, too. I'll contact you guys when I find him."
It was all they could do for the moment.
Chloe was a little anxious about getting home and trying to find out where James was.
James didn't have a locator on him now. She could only look for clues from surveillance at major intersections.
If James were going abroad, he'd have to buy a plane ticket. She was also monitoring the flow of his bank card amount in real time.
Finally returning to the villa, Chloe opened the door and went in to tell Michael about James. But before she could say anything, she saw James lying on the couch eating chips.
She was stunned. "James? What are you doing here? I thought you were gone!"
James heard her voice and waved toward her. "I thought you'd be back sooner. Got stuck in traffic?"
Chloe didn't say anything. There was a real traffic jam just now.
She walked over and threw the phone at him. "What the hell are you doing?"
James sat up somewhat weakly from the couch, resting on the cushion. "Why are you angry? I just thought they were really annoying and wanted to get rid of them."
For the past few days, James had been on the verge of a nervous breakdown, watching Vicky talk next to him and Maggie cry.
He wasn't trying to run away but just trying to avoid those two women.
The most dangerous place was the safest. So James took a cab straight to Chloe's house.
At that moment, Michael came down from the second floor with a clean set of loungewear. "Change into it."
He didn't like James and didn't want James to have too much contact with Chloe.
But James still had injuries now. He couldn't really kick James out, so he could only roll his eyes reluctantly while going upstairs to get James loungewear. James looked at the vertically striped loungewear in front of him and said, "Is this your outfit?"
"Or what? I haven't worn it. It's new."
James said, "No wonder it's so ugly."
One of Michael's most annoying things was people being sarcastic about his aesthetic taste when it was clear that his aesthetic taste had always been excellent. "Then don't wear it!" Michael snapped.
