Chapter 49 : Did I Go Too Far?
Wendy packed up her things and was ready to go back to school. Her head was covered with sweat, and she just wanted to get into the refrigerator immediately. She poked her head out of the room and saw Rex pacing back and forth in the living room at a glance, as if he was looking for something.
Wendy coughed softly before Rex turned to look at her. He continued to search with his head lowered.
Wendy’s eyes whirled as she left the room. Step by step, she moved behind him.
Rex turned his head and pushed her to the side without even looking at her. The disdain in his eyes was completely undisguised, and even Wendy was wondering if she was really in his way.
“What are you looking for?” Wendy tilted her head slightly.
It was silent again.
Wendy did not know what exactly she had done wrong. Ever since a few days ago, he had been so cold and distant towards her, always wearing an icy cold expression on his face.
Rex bent down and picked up something from under the sofa. He held it tightly in his hand and his face looked relieved.
“President, it’s time for us to leave,” Clare said from the side.
Rex put the stuff in his pocket and left without looking back.
Of course Wendy knew. Those words must have been directed at her. They had no warmth; they were icy to the extreme.
She took a deep breath and walked out with her slightly heavy schoolbag. Looking at Rex, who was walking lightly in front of her, she was full of grievances.
Rex walked out of the villa. When he went down the stairs, he staggered and almost fell to the ground. Unfortunately, the wall on one side was too strong to support him in time.
But that action was funny enough. Wendy couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
Rex must have heard Wendy’s laughter and felt that he had lost face, so his ears turned red. After he stood up, he straightened his tie, and maintained his usual ‘gentleman’s demeanor’ as he sat in the car as if nothing had happened.
Rex was not having a good time either. She continued to carry the heavy schoolbag on her back. Clare saw that she was pitiful and wanted to get out of the car to help her but was stopped by Rex. He could only be a bystander.
Wendy had put her schoolbag in the trunk with great difficulty, and the scorching sun above her head burned her self-esteem. She wiped away her sweat, opened the car door, and sat beside Rex.
There was dead silence in the car. Wendy could even feel Rex’s cold gaze staring straight at her like countless sharp arrows. It was obvious that she was about to be completely hurt.
Unexpectedly, Rex broke the silence with a simple “let’s go”.
Shouldn’t he let her get out of the car? Or should he allow her to sit in front of him and let her go just like that? It looked like Wendy had still underestimated Rex’s “Art of Ice Frost”.
“Wendy Walters!”
“What? Are you saying my name?” Wendy was overwhelmed by the unexpected favor as she imagined a ridiculous scene.
She was dressed in finery and kneeling on the ground to welcome the emperor’s favor, but the emperor……
Frightened by the terrifying thought, she immediately shook her head, but then she heard Rex’s impatient voice. “You’re not willing to it?”
“What? What did you say? I’m sorry, I…… I just lost my mind. Say it again.”
Rex turned his head to look ahead and said in a low voice, “Buy me a bottle of water.”
Buy water?! Mr. Gavyn, you……forget it.
Wendy gave a faint smile and pretended to be a good-tempered girl. “Okay.”
Wendy walked into the supermarket. She hadn’t expected that there would be so many people lining up. Even if she could afford to wait, could the guy in the car? Wendy turned around and saw…… a Bentley drawing a perfect arc in front of her eyes. It wasn’t until it was out of her sight that she realized that it was Rex’s car?!
When she rushed out of the room, the place in front of her was empty and the sunlight was even more unbridled. It shone so brightly that she could not open her eyes. Wendy was even more certain that she must have done something wrong to him, otherwise, why would he tease her like this?
Wendy spent half an hour walking to the school, her was hair messy. She spread it out, scratched it with her hand, and tied it into a simple ponytail.
Unexpectedly, before she entered the classroom, she saw Rex, who was in the headmaster’s office.Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
What is he doing here?!
Before she could react, Rex walked out of the headmaster’s office. When she saw Rex’s face, she felt helpless. She didn’t want it to be such a coincidence, okay?
She tried her best to suppress the resentment in her heart and put on a smile. “Well…… my schoolbag……”
“The driver has already taken it to the classroom.” After that, he turned around and went away.
Wendy scratched her head before walking to the classroom while recalling what she had done in the past few days.
From day to night, she took care of Rosaria when he got home. Moreover, Rex had been busy with work recently, so he might not be able to take care of her. But it was obvious that his was not right.
God knew what he was thinking.
When she got home in the evening, Wendy deliberately avoided Rex and hid in the study as soon as she entered the house. However, she was hungry by the time it was time for dinner.
When Wendy heard the door open, she immediately got out of bed and opened it. It was Rex.
“Let’s go downstairs for dinner.”
“Sure.” Wendy closed the door and followed Rex downstairs.
Wendy sat down at the dining table and asked, “Where’s Rosaria?”
“I told Clare to take her out for a walk.”
“Okay.”
There was dead silence between the two of them, and the vibe was particularly uncomfortable.
“I’m done eating.” Rex put down his chopsticks and returned to his room.
He only took one bite. Looking at the full bowl of rice in his’s bowl, Wendy suddenly felt that he had gone too far and started a cold war without saying anything.
She ate a little and then stopped eating. She walked to the door of Rex’s room and was just about to knock on it. She paced back and forth at the door when the door opened. Rex was wearing pajamas. Wendy blinked and stood in front of him.
“What are you doing?”
“I……” Wendy felt her face burning. She was so nervous that she had forgotten what to say.
Rex grabbed Wendy’s wrist and turned around to press her against the wall. Wendy’s eyes widened as she looked at the face that was getting clearer and clearer. She held her breath.
Rex saw that Wendy’s eyelashes were trembling and he had stopped moving forward. When he was only one inch away from Wendy, Wendy was so scared that she even forgot to escape.
“Wendy, why aren’t you running away? Don’t you know what I’m going to do?”
Wendy covered her mouth with her other hand. Seeing her like this, Rex couldn’t help laughing, but Wendy acted as if she had seen a ghost. She put down her hand and slowly reached out. The moment she touched Rex’s face, he immediately held her against the wall. Seeing his inexplicable expression, Wendy realized that she was in danger and wanted to break free, but she didn’t expect that she would hold him tighter and tighter.
“Don’t you think it’s too late to raise your guard now?” Rex deliberately leaned forward, shortening the distance between them to half an inch.
Wendy’s heart was beating so fast that she felt dizzy. Rex could even hear Wendy’s breathing.
“It hurts.”
Rex’s expression immediately changed when he heard Wendy’s cry. He pulled Wendy to the ground. Wendy’s head hit the railing on the side. Rex’s heart throbbed, but he didn’t say anything. With a bang, he closed the door and locked himself in the room with his coldness.
Wendy could no longer hold back the grievance in her heart as tears started welling up in her eyes.
Rex, what have I done wrong?
After midnight, Rex gently opened the door of the study. Sure enough, Wendy had already fallen asleep on the table.
He quietly approached her and looked at her sleeping face. His heart ached as he pushed Wendy’s hair aside and took out the first-aid kit. He carefully disinfected and applied medicine.
Rex stretched out to smoothen Wendy’s tightly furrowed brows. He kissed gently on Wendy’s forehead. He put Wendy’s arm into the blanket and carefully turned off the air conditioner. He sat by the bed for a long time. Finally, he turned off the light quietly, slowly closed the door, and returned to his room.
“Did I go too far this time?”
