Accidentally Married

Branch One Hundred and Twenty One

Hello Dear Avid Reader.

Forgive me for being inactive for almost a week. I needed to space myself in the real world and reclaim myself.

But I’m back and multiple chapters follow.

Enjoy

“Oh silly me I just remembered that I have to be at the restaurant early this morning,” she said hitting her head with her palm.

He shook his head and dropped the cup to the table. “I will take you then”

“Oh no no no no no”

“No?”

“Yeah, I do not want to pull you away from your busy day”

“My busy day?”

To him, it was how obvious she was avoiding her. His eyebrows went up and he scratched beside it. She shifted from one leg to another and murmured to herself. She has used up all the excuses she could think of and now she wanted to just escape as fast as she could.

If she was being honest with herself she wanted to kiss him again but was it not obvious that he did that under the influence of the drink they had?

“About the kiss…” she trailed off as she blinked and took deep breaths.

“What about it?” he asked slowly and gently.

Maybe he did wrong for doing that to her. Why did he think they were closer and that it was okay to do it to her?

“You know we were drunk and that is probably why you know we did that,” she said crossing her hand over herself and hugging herself right.

Something in her wished he would not say she was right. She needed her affirmation. She wanted him to dispel her fears. He searched her face.

“It was a mistake” she ended by closing her eyes and then opening them rapidly.

“A mistake?” he asked with a sigh.

“Wasn’t it?”

“If you say so then it was. I am sorry to have made that mistake”Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

He pushed himself off the counter and walked towards her. When he was right in front of her she gulped hard and closed her eyes. Why did she tell him it was a mistake and then expect him to repeat the same action?

“Excuse me” he murmured to her.

Her eyes flew open and her face flushed with embarrassment. She shifted from the way and he opened the door and left without a word. He climbed up the stars to him too and straight to the shower. He hated that she thought it was a mistake.

‘Was it a mistake? Was I under the influence of alcohol? Would I do it if I was sober?’

Different kinds of questions ran through his mind as he thought about his interaction with her. He came out and called the new coach to skip the day.

If she felt it was a mistake then he needed to skip the day with her. He did not know what he felt about her but he knew that hearing her call it a mistake made him so angry that he wanted to smash a whole lot of things.

The feeling he had was the exact one he felt whenever he lost a client for a deal. Why would he feel that way because of her statement? It was not that big of a deal? Or was it?

He drove out of the house to a race track. He needed to get his mind off the situation as swiftly as possible and he knew that doing strenuous activities would do the trick.

He was going to have that alone time to get his mind off those things. Probably a day or two.

“What’s wrong?”

“Hmm?” Jessica hummed and whipped her head to Leslie who was sitting there.

“You’ve been out of it all day” Leslie explained popping some store-bought chips in her mouth.

When Xavier had hurriedly left the house in the morning she felt weird and could not stop thinking about what he was thinking.

“Just have a lot on my mind with the opening of the restaurant” Jessica lied.

These days she was getting better at lying. She used to want to tell Leslie everything about her relationship with Xavier but how could she go ahead and tell her what happened last night?

She was taking full responsibility without asking anyone. She was at fault after all. She was the one that made them play that game. She should have found any other way to get the answers she needed from him.

“Jessica?” Leslie said with a clap of her hand. “You are so distracted I doubt it is the restaurant that got you like this”

“It’s a lot and with my aunt that’s around. She has been a pain” Jessica added.

It was true Olivia had been a pain but by now everyone in the house had gotten used to her constant nagging and snarky comments.

“I’m calling Alicia”

“Why?”

“Maybe she would be able to bring out the truth from you if I can’t”

“What makes you think that I’m lying?”

“All the reasons you’ve given me are too small to bother you. You are not even moved by Xavier’s indifference to you so…” she trailed off with a shrug.

“He is indifferent to me?” Jessica asked walking to her friend.

This was news to her and she did not like the sound of it. If he was indifferent to her then why did she feel bad telling him the kiss was an error? For some reason, she felt lightweight. Just a little bit though. She still wanted it to be that there was a reason behind the kiss.

‘It was definitely a mistake’ she reassured herself.

“Even a blind man can see his indifference to you,” Leslie said in a duh tone.

“Oh wow,” Jessica found herself in a mixture of being comfortable and uncomfortable with the situation.

It was not as if Jessica was unaware that she and Xavier were not two peas in a pod but hearing that from someone from the outside made her feel awake.

“Do you know what we can do now?” Jessica asked and took her away into one of the chairs on the table where Leslie sat.

Leslie shook her head as she popped the chips in. “We would order some food and then immerse ourselves in the work of choosing the menu”

“I thought you were going to hire someone for that?” Leslie gasped in tiredness. It was wrought work deciding what one was going to eat in a restaurant not to talk of being the one to prepare that menu.

“Yeah, but I changed my mind. I think it will be better to do it myself” Jessica said pulling out a huge sketch pad from her bag to the table.

‘I need to free myself from his grip. If he is indifferent to me why do I like him?’
